The type of Drama that disappoints me the most (even if it remains watchable) - potentially fantastic story based on the all-around capable and powerful female lead, dragged down by the horrible, overbearing ML wearing multiple god-awful masks, mixed with childhood/rescuing tropes and the terrible Romance. Thanks to the FL, the drama gave me a vibe of "Queen of the Battlefield", but the execution wasn't anywhere close.
Also , there is a moment around 1:32-1:33, when the ML is pinning the FL down - I hope one day to watch a drama where the female lead, actually presented as the very all-around capable, will beat the hell out of the ML in this kind of situation, instead of getting pinned down like some Damsel in Distress. Doesn't matter which god-awful mask he will wear at the moment :)

How does she compare against the Prisoner of Beauty's FL, who was absolutely fantastic and very powerful in her scheming and forward-thinking in the opening 11 Episodes, and then heavily downgraded for the rest of the Drama? Or against the FL from the Blossom? (minus the rebirth)
I really like Ma Qiuyuan, so I would like to watch it. But the comments regarding the FL's scheming abilities are very conflicting, so just not sure...

Well, the majority of dramas these days have pretty people in main roles. And pretty much, it was always the case. So, there still had to be some things that "PoJ" did well, even if obviously 9.2 is a crazy rating.

Well, 9.2 is a higher rating than "Nirvana in Fire" - so in this case it's FAKE AS HELL! But also, 9.2 is higher than "Romance of the Female Soldier" at 8.6, so in this case it's somehow deserving :).
Is this the best show ever? Of course not. Is this the best Idol drama ever? Also not, but IMO it's clearly above-average. But it's an enjoyable ride, seen much, much worse. Of course, a lot depends on your priorities.
