Great post, agree 100% in both cases. The only thing I didn't like about Wei Yan was the fact that out of all people,…
He's old and hasn't seen battle in many years. I could maybe buy it against Changyu, but the ML was supposed to be a super-duper unbeatable fighter, steamrolling over anyone.
Wei Yan is a great complicated villain. He's not likeable or sympathetic but I like that he doesn't whine about…
Great post, agree 100% in both cases.
The only thing I didn't like about Wei Yan was the fact that out of all people, he was somehow able to have a relatively close sword fight against the ML - how in the hell was it possible?
It downgraded ML's level of fighting skills more than all the Changyu scenes and glory that people complained about.
do you really think that in reality the men in the army are fighting over a woman and a potential husband... it's…
Blossom was definitely better, but I don't have a problem with the Changyu the way she was presented (except the nonsense moment, when she suddenly forgot how to kneel during the Edict's arrival). And no, she wasn't stronger than ML, it was clear when they had a sparring session that he is still a much better fighter. It's just the way the story was written, focusing more on her road to greatness compared to the already established Marquis. I actually appreciate the writers who, for once, created a Power Couple (in the aspect of fighting) where the FL rescues the ML as much as he rescues her.
This is one of the dramas that I always return to every time I feel bored and have nothing fun to watch. Some say…
Well, the romance with red flag ML disgusts me, but the way you described the female lead makes it very appealing to watch. Especially with Bai Lu playing her.
I didn't really care about her Romance in "Pursuit of Jade", but I really enjoyed watching her, and I would love to see her playing a highly intelligent, strategic kind of leading role. She seems to have a great look and poise for it.
《破庙怀崽后,奸臣天天洗尿布》After becoming pregnant in the dilapidated temple, the treacherous minister washed her diapers every day (based on someone's post in the YT comments section) - similar plot to the village's part of the"Pursuit of Jade"
Any cdrama where ml/fl fight using spears? New to historical cdrama
It's Jdrama actually, but I highly recommend "Seirei no Moribito", with Balsa the Bodyguard easily beating both fl's in spear prowess (and many other aspects). It's quite old, and it has fantasy aspects, but the 1st season is short and overall, to what you asked, is the best choice IMO.
What a world of difference between Episodes 31-33 and 34, the latter probably became one of my favourites so far, even though Emperor's over-the-top persona is a bit too much for me.
At least they tried to fix the damage done to the FL's image in 31-33.
Exactly that’s how I felt. Even in the supposedly standout moments, the best ones were at the beginning, and…
Yeah, I just realised that there was a scene about her maid to be good at making money - I would expect FL to use this money to buy informants in the city, maybe some guard/assasins, etc,,,
When she visited her family alongside ML, the obvious move was to get rid of the uncle (they were openly disrespecting him, so why not..._), or at least his advisor, since his brother complained about him a lot.
Also, I hated when they made in storyline FL to be surprised that ML is reading her letters - what could she expect at the beginning? She should do the same if their positions were reversed. Unless she faked her rage, but it didn't seem so.
So many possibilities to develop FL further into the capable strategist we were promised based on the opening episodes.
Well, I finished it... kind of, as I was using the FF a lot in the 2nd part.
I like to watch FL-centric dramas, and until Episodes 10-11 (the verbal destruction of the MiL was the last great moment), the FL here was on her way to becoming one of the most intriguing and powerful FLs ever. And I strongly believe the early episodes will hold rewatch value for me for a long time.
But since then, with just a few exceptions, the FL became another run-of-the-mill "smart female lead", written to do nothing, hear nothing, when the villains scheme in her face against her, her husband and her family. She was even downgraded to being unable to properly explain things in the letter to her sister/cousin. Maybe the typical romance push & pull tired her out too much, lol.
In the end, due to war and pregnancy, meaning the lack of creativity from the writers, she became just a side character.
Overall, I expected a much darker tone to this drama, and the light, comical vibe quickly became insufferable. Despite the strong beginning, I find the full drama to be nowhere close to the "Blossom", IMO the best (doesn't mean it's perfect) mix of the multi-dimensional action, romance and the fantastic all-around FL.
I will probably keep trying with some upcoming Dramas, but in reality, in 2026, only Micro/vertical dramas can present less tropy, not your typical, run-of-the-mill stories.
Lu Songli can safely sit as the Queen of the capable Female Leads, despite the Micro Drama with her not being finished (yet?). But there are some other Micro Dramas too, which proved to be ready to present FLs in some unique/powerful way.
The drama is reaching its end.. What is your favorite scene and the most heartbreaking scene for you? I love all…
Probably Granny King talking to her grandson while hiding under the bed during the massacre, knowing that she will die protecting him in a few minutes.
The whole massacre had more great moments, including Changyu spectacularly killing the 2nd in command among bandits.

And somehow, this one has a Princess Shu from "Pursuit of Jade" in it.

ML: Wang Nian Jiang Cheng 王年将成
FL: Li Shi Qi 李十七
I didn't read novel, but after LOTFG's trailer, it was such a disappointment to watch it fully.

Also, I personally find "Legend of the female general" (aka, the Romance of the female soldier) to be quite overrated.
