She got stabbed and poisoned by some schmuck soldier at the end of the 1st episode, which lowered her fighting skills for the majority of the series.

In her weakened state, she did a stupid open attack on the opposite's envoy in the 3rd episode and had to be rescued by the ML and his younger brother/friend.

And there were a few more times later as well, when she had to be saved by the ML, plus as a legendary assassin, she had a most idiotic idea of trying to get pregnant during the important mission.

I really like Liu Shishi as an actress, and overall Ren Xin was cool character, but compared to what it could be, she was heavily butchered by the writers.

Could you write a few words about it? What was it supposed to be and what was in reality?

However, they forgot to tell about it to the folks preparing a Trailer, this is main issue for me - I have no problem with Rom-coms in various circumstances, I would just avoid them and allow fans of them to enjoy it.

But I have a serious issue when Trailer promotes something entirely else than I get to watch in reality.

Well, her voice isn't much better.

And I kind of miss hearing "Dudu" every 30 seconds :)

Well, it's difficult to assess there, as due to Amnesia, she was on her way to get back her high-level skills.

But I agree that after becoming a general, she was very powerful.

LOL, He Yan needed saving multiple times too, it's just a standard Cdrama trope.

Even the strongest Female Leads like in "Journey to Love" or "Who rules the World" were stabbed/poisoned/saved in the opening Episode and later it happened again multiple times (more in "Journey to Love" compared to "Who rules the world" to be fair).

Two episodes, two times FL had to be saved in desperate situations.

Am I the only one thinking, "How did she become the general in the first place and survived for so long until meeting the ML?"

I will never understand why writers never consider it, and after building up badass/powerful female leads in synopsis/trailers, they crash their characters over and over again.

It took only 18 minutes for the FL to get out-schemed and in need of being saved by the ML (kind of). Even for a Cdramaland standards of hating capable FLs, it's really, really quick :)

After reading the synopsis, what does FL do in all of this? Except for existing?

I've recently realized something similar with "Minglan" as an example- the era of truly great Dramas is probably over.

I still think it's possible to find a good ones ("Blossom" and "Flourished Peony" would be my recent examples), but no higher than that.

Unfortunately, Idol Dramas masquarading as the serious Dramas are the flavour of the day, with poorly written plot and/or even worse acting (usually from MLs), "The Double" or "Journey to Love" would be two MDL highly-rated examples.

Also, I've heard many times good thing about "The Princess Wei Yang" Novel, with pretty much agreed opinion that the FL was much better in taking care of the bad guys compared to the Drama from 2016. But didn't have a chance to read it, yet.

It was already made into a microdrama "换亲后我顺便换了江山" aka "After Changing the Marriage, It's Reasonable for Me to Change the Country" (still long, but much better title)

I loved the "I became the cannon fodder who died early, and I angrily married the villain", even if it was really, really long (775 chapters) and sometimes the English translation was rough.

But, it has the smartest and most badass (in a non-Kung Fu way) Female Lead you can find anywhere, so it was still worth it.

Well, it's an individual priority after all.
There is one more big battle in Episode 36, some scheming by the 2ML complicating main relationship, the FL also had some decent moments when talking to the Emperor, the 2ML and her brother.

Personally, I didn't think the episodes 34-36 were particularly bad compared to 1-33, but I was overall down on this Drama, so not sure if my opinion matters too much.

30 years after its initial broadcast, it remains one of the shows I would love to watch with decent Eng subtitles. Too bad it probably won't ever happen.

Well, I don't know much about her, besides the fact that she was great in "Queen of Battlefield" (the one you linked) and "Crown of Shadows- The Empress's Revenge" (this one should have Part 2 in the future and doesn't even have MDL profile), playing two very strong Female Leads in both of them, and from my limited understanding of acting, she really deserves better than Microdramas.

Also, her character in "Queen of Battlefield" is definitely one of my favourites in the "female badass lead" category, as she perfectly blends Martial Arts skills for physical confrontations and intelligence, along with eloquence, to deal with her opponents in verbal battles.
Her scheming and revenge in "Crown of Shadows" was great as well, plus she looked sexier than I expected in coquettish/romance scenes.

There is one more Palace microdrama with her, which looks great, but has a sad ending, so I'm postponing it a bit. But probably my curiosity will make me watch it as well.
And, there is also a Microdrama about the Lion Dancing, which looks kind of unique, but I wasn't able to find a full version so far.

Typically, the main issue for generals in the court is a lack of eloquence, so the scholars and censors can twist their words, even if the generals see the threat coming.

But I agree it doesn't make sense with the FL here - she is eloquent enough and has a good knowledge of battlefield strategy, yet seems quite oblivious to court matters.

Also, I'm still bothered by the fact that she didn't even consider telling Dudu about herself being a real General Feihong when their relationship seemed stable enough, instead of allowing the initiative to be in the opponent's hands.

Lu Songli would never make a mistake like that, I guess, for the foreseeable future, she spoiled me with how a supposedly smart female lead should progress with her decision-making.
The same goes for the FL from "Blossom", another impressively smart character.

"Using her intelligence to escape false charges" - this actually proved to be a lie.

I've dropped it after Episode 5, following another dumb thing done by the FL.

I use abbreviation of a true title of "Romance of the Female General", but yes :)

I actually was the most bored in 13-16 episodes, after He Yan successfully defended garrison from invaders (of course, getting saved by Dudu at the end), they went with almost exclusively Romance for a bunch of episodes, which was a FF mostly for me.

I don't like final episodes too much either, but at least some more serious things were happening. For example, He Yan had some solid confrontations with the Emperor and Zhu Chan, also Emperor telling Dudu to shut up and stop simping during Court Discussion and allow He Yan to defend herself instead was nice too.
