"You lost" - said the FL around 31th minute of Episode 1, and about 5 seconds after, she had to be saved by the same guy she was fighting against, as she would have fallen off the cliff without him rescuing her.
The way C-Drama writers are writing a Strong/Badass/Martial Arts Female Leads is just downright insulting.
皇后娘娘万福金安 (Ma Le Jie) - highly capable and very likeable FL, and even ML; plus the Romance was better than usual. Standard storyline about the powerful ancient lady transmigrating, but worth watching.
毒舌千金又美又飒 (Fan Chu Qi) - there were a few interesting moments and catchy one-liners; even the FL was pretty good here (and had great presence). But overall, it's a bunch of nonsense, especially the final act.
重生后我和公主成闺蜜,顺便换了江山 (Wei Fan Shu) - what a smart and capable female lead in political scheming (and with stunning looks), unfortunately, in an overly-complicated Revenge Story. But without ML, which is a huge plus. Either way, I have a tough time accepting/believing that such a powerful FL could be killed in her original life. Ugh, I hate rebirths.
I don't like Republican dramas, so I don't know if I even would watch it, but it's a second Qin Lan's drama besides The Assassin that is on-hold for so long.
Episodes 6-10 report... or lack of it, as I am dropping it.
Some cool moments here and there, but overall I dislike ML too much to continue. And FL is nowhere close to fill this gap for me.
I'm sure there will be moments I would enjoy (surprisingly, Lingbo pouring a bucket of ice-cold water on her mother in Episode 10 was a great one), but overall it will be a frustrating waste of time watching the remaining 27 episodes.
Back to my private Vertical Trashy Dramas Dungeon, filled with truly FL-centric and sometimes, even lacking ML and/or romance, dramas.
Title: 【商战女王她断情绝爱】/ [The Business Queen Who Cuts Off Emotions and Love]FL: Yu Xiao Wan 于小琬https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7gCegmlfgQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCG6Vh0iOps
Title: 真千金她热辣滚烫/The real heiress is hot and passionate
For the fans of badass FL's (and a lack of cold CEO MLs)
Plot: Lin Jinchu, a girl who has struggled in darkness for nineteen years, has a deformed right leg and a heart full of scars, yet she still stubbornly lives on. One night, after a narrow victory in the boxing ring, she encounters her biological parents and learns that she is the real heiress, switched at birth by her nanny. Returning to the Lin family, she is not greeted with warmth and love; the fake heiress, Lin Yue, hides a knife behind her smile, and her younger brother, Lin Chen, verbally abuses her. Faced with hypocritical family affection, Lin Jinchu can no longer endure it and unleashes a furious counterattack!
The first drama (around 3:35 long) with multiple links ("Queen of Battlefield") is actually a decent starting point to test whether you might like them.
And regarding "G2G - we'll see. I promised myself to give 10 episodes, but it's getting harder, as it's another copy-and-paste show, especially after I recently watched bits of "Legend of Condor Heroes".
That quote is pretty accurate. The FL & ML are evenly matched, not sure where the "crying mess" description…
Vertical Dramas are dramas filmed vertically for mobile devices, usually trashy, with episodes 2-3 minutes long and runs of 40-60-80 episodes.
They started 2-3 years ago with a terrible all-around quality,, but despite it, the ADHD society still made them popular, and with more money poured in (Investors like them, since it has a return on investment in 2-3 months), the quality is getting better on all fronts (picture/audio quality, storytelling, acting) 95-99% of them are still trash, but if you know how to search for what you like, they can be quite enjoyable. And the range of topics/themes in them is much wider than in the copy-and-paste world of Big productions. For example, you can find FL-centric dramas without ML and where the FL is running a show - how cool is that? :)

Yes, I watched both parts - Flourished Peony was really, really good, "In the name of Blossom", not really.
I loved the resilience of the FL (and the actress's acting plus music). And, to their credit, the writers made decent use of her in the final battle/rebellion at least (hello "Prisoner of Beauty" and your idea of getting FL pregnant and making her a useless, side character at the end...). It was a weak rebellion, but at least the FL proved to be quite useful.
However, let's not lie to ourselves that ML doesn't save the FL there - it happens quite a bit; I don't know why people are blind to that so often in Dramas. At least in "Flourished Peony", he helped her a few times on her request, which was a nice twist. But, after she got really rich, every time she went out without bodyguards, it made me, well; I know am in the minority to prefer a smarter FL with better decision-making, over dramatic/cliffhanger moments. But I know it will never happen due to the latter.

It's complicated, but it seems to be happening more and more, as I'm decent in research, so among the huge pile of shit, I am able to find individual Vertical Dramas I enjoy (with algorithms helping of course)
Unlike the big production ones, which are pretty much copy & paste these days - good looking FLs & MLs, more and more romance, FL always playing 2nd fiddle in "Power Couples" and getting dumbed down if starting smart/strong, etc... At least in Vertical's pile of shit, there is some diversity...
It seems like I will drop "Generation to Generation" at Episode 7 (watching it at the moment). There are some I finished (Pursuit of Jade was the last one, but even there it was a bore after Episode 19), but it's getting more and more difficult.
You made me quite interested in the Novel - how does the FL here stacks against Lu Songli? :)

But, on the other hand, it's only 10 episodes left...
Of course, I agree that writers lost their way when trying to expand the drama's world, but unfortunately, it's quite typical- C-drama or not
Okay, now, I'm curious too ;).

Now, it's - 女王的审判 aka "The Queen's Trial"

I'm yet to see one, especially if there is a Power Couple, where pretty much always ML is stronger/smarter.
Plus, the Zhen Huan (Empress Dowager) with a cat in "Ruyi" just doesn't make any sense ;).
