But the rest is still quite good.... people these days on MDL simply talk shit about everything...
If everything were 9.0, then 9.0 would lose its meaning. It's depressing to think that if not for haters or downvoting bots, MDL ratings would be even more inflated.
I was just surfing Douban and realised it has a 3.8 rating there. "Rebirth" is unbeatable this year in terribleness (2.9), but this one looks almost as diabolical.
So what, is this another drama which should have an NBA2K rating? Why is there an expectation that every drama deserves a rating around 9.0, and when it doesn't happen, it's always because of the bots and haters?
Why not? I'm trying to decide if i want to keep this on my watch list or not.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. It would bother me as well, so I won't be starting this one; especially after just finishing watching LSS as a super-capable female lead in "Kill My Sins".
I just finished watching "Kill My Sins", and with the LSS here, my expectations went up regarding this drama (especially without Romance tagged at the moment).
But the silence in the comment sections doesn't look good ;(
It was really interesting to watch her as a villainess in "Prisoner of Beauty" and then as a 2nd heroine in "Kill My Sins". Also, if someone told me she is Liu Shi Shi's sister, I would probably believe it :).
It sucks to write a summary 18 months after everyone, but as I finally decided to watch it, it has been a very good drama.
I would rate it at the "Blossom" and "Flourished Peony" levels (maybe slightly better than FP due to higher rewatch value and FL doing more on her own) , and easily higher than most 8.5+ rated dramas, which I won't mention to avoid putting myself in the crossfire. However, I'm a bit disappointed that it rated only at 6.3 on Douban, despite mostly very positive comments visible on the main page.
Couple of notes: - The title should be "Expect unexpected", as some of the twists and turns were really surprising, and yes, a few of them didn't make much sense to my limited brain - It's a rare, female-centric show without any Romance (but a lot of friendship), which already puts it in unique territory. And, fortunately, it was executed really well. - It also has a very dark and heavy tone, lots of death and tragic moments (especially in flashbacks). - It was a rare show where I actually would welcome more episodes. - It was a very rare show where I barely fast-forwarded scenes; instead, I was probably going back more to double-check some things. - I really liked a moment when the 2ML took the female lead to the outside of the city when she was probably at her lowest point, cursed by everybody. What a lovely character. - It's so nice to see, for once, a female-centric show where the FL is actually the most capable person in the drama. She had her share of painful losses too, and in general, she is the most resilient female lead I've seen besides the FL from "Veil of Vengeance". - She also had some irritatingly smart and easy-to-hate antagonists. - I liked it until the end, but overall, the opening arc about the original revenge was the strongest one, and the final rebellion was pretty pathetic. Okay, so maybe this didn't need more episodes after all :). - It's a travesty that the actress playing Wu's wife and mother (宋欣洁/Song Xinjie) isn't listed in the cast. - I also really liked the music; maybe sometimes it was too much of it, but it really fit nicely. - And what can I say at the end? I just really like watching dramas with Liu Shi Shi (and obviously, just staring at her); it was a really nicely written role for her. But there were many other strong performances from various actors and actresses (the old chancellor was my favourite; I recognise his voice from The Story of Minglan as the original Emperor); the lack of beauty contest participants helped a lot :).
She was also playing in "Kill My Sins", the wife of the final villain turned Taoist Master. I couldn't ind nowhere an inwo about the year he was born, but either way she is wery pretty. She had to be a true looker in her career before taking a break in 2010's.

Disaster-territory.
I love them then :)
My very early guess is that it will be below 6.0 on Douban.

Also, Blossom was superior on almost every level, maybe except the second couple.
