Yeahhh,,, happy and then heartbroken bcause of his dad🥲🥲🥲 poor Fugui,,, 🥲🥲🥲🥲I think it is…
I'm not saying he should be mad at Qing Tong or anything but there is definitely a pattern there. He's fine with being poisoned, he let's himself be blinded, he gives up 10 years of his life, not for someone he loves, he says (and I believe him) because he saw someone struggling to live, and he would do it for anyone.
When he's hurt, his father doesn't ask if he's ok or for him to get treated. He tells him to go back to his cell and reflect on his mistakes. Everyone refers to his as soldier like he isn't a person, doesn't have a name or any wants and needs, and this has messed him up big time.
Today's episodes were so good. When Fugui questioned his father, then straight up told him, bonds are your weakness, not mine, I screamed.
I'm glad the poisoning didn't become a whole thing. But it does illustrate how very little Fugui values himself. Qing Tong seemingly betrays him, and he doesn't even have it in him to be mad about it. He's just like I'm sure she had her reasons so it's fine. If someone needs to use me to save themselves, totally ok. What else am I good for? Juxtapose that with how angry he was with Rumu's dad for using him, he can get angry on behalf of others but not himself.
And while we're at it, let's contrast his dad defending him for the FIRST TIME EVER (and when was the last time he called Fugui Gui'er instead of soldier?) and then finding out (in his mind at least ) that his dad wasn't defending him at all and was instead defending his stupid super soldier program. VS Qing Tong coming back with the antidote after her betrayal and poisoning herself and almost dying to get it.
All these mofos calling Fugui soldier like he's not even a person😡
And Hong Ye remembering his wife saying 'this soldier plan was my idea' and 'promise me one last thing' and then forgetting her saying the most important thing-- if he wants to walk away let him! Did he just get a concussion one day and replace that with a false memory of her saying 'and raise him super emotionless and don't treat him like a human so he won't even be able to think about walking away'??
I was kinda worried cuz Love in Pavilion was just ok for me but this is soo sooo good! I love everything about it, the story, the cinematography, the action, the pacing. I was on the fence for a hot minute there about the cgi spiders but 12580 being adorable won me over.
Li Yi Tong is perfect, I love her so much, and Cheng Yi is, as always, chef's kiss, marvelous, wonderful, flawless, I have no notes.
I actually really enjoyed this, but there were definitely things I did not love.
Things I loved: Ying Yuan/Tang Zhou, Yan Dan, Ying Yuan/Tang Zhou X Yan Dan, Ying Yuan/Tang Zhou X Yan Dan X Yu Mo, that time they all fell into a wixia and started kicking around the jianghu solving crime, Xuan Ye and his green tea bitch ass self
Things I found unutterably boring: Yu Mo's solo side quests, Side characters' boring ass side quests
Things I found absolutely infuriating: Shitty lamp wicks! No wonder we all switched to electricity! That choppy ass ending, we spent sooooo much time on boring side characters but suddenly oh no we can't possibly spend any more time on the ending?? And don't come at me with the specials or whatever, I deserve one full episode of everyone being happy. They filmed it! I want to see it! In lingering detail!
Just finished this, but it was a chore. So slow-paced that I kept getting bored and had to go do other things…
I actually feel like the pace was too fast (because of the episode limit) and that's why you were bored, because there was no time to flesh out the side characters so they kinda had no personality. Not counting Crazy Yan and Li Chen Zhou of course, those guys drip charisma just by standing around like some kind of leaky faucet that's unreasonably full of charisma. More episode would have also allowed their stories to be fleshed out, how amazing would that have been.
Say what you want about JoL's pacing, directing, post-production, editing (and I have deffo said some stuff), but watching other shows' fight scenes after JoL's is like eating cardboard after a perfectly cooked steak.
Yup. Kaiyan is truly the worst, spends his working hours killing people I like more than him (but no one I'd actually…
(but no one I'd actually be happy to lose)😂😂😂😂😂 I feel this so hard.
Logic, Kaiyan. Logic. It does exist so use it.-- He probably thinks its some kind of food. But sadly it didn't didn't come in that massive table he ordered.
thank you for this! all the cut scenes would have made the plot of the last episodes so much better, it felt so…
The fact that they actually filmed PLOT RELEVANT scenes that would have made the ending actually coherent and then choose to cut them is absolutely infuriation. And for what exactly? time constraints? Did I really need to waste hours of my life watching Kaiyan and Yiren being the absolute worst instead? Or the 4 stooges that honestly made me wish Suifeng was just a bit more of a mass murdering maniac so he could have killed them off 10 minutes after their introduction? Or even Quishui and co falling into a weird music video for 5 minutes straight? I'm not even talking about needing Ming Ming to survive or whatever I just want proper plot progression instead of thing randomly happening! R^*$&#^@*&)*&^$%$@#
The problem with having super OP characters in your story that are not the protagonist, like Li Chenzhou and Crazy Yan is that you then run into the Gojo Satoru problem. If you gave them free rein, they would go ahead and single handedly solve all the problems because they are just that strong. So then they need to be nerfed and sidelined so the protagonist can go and do protagonist things. But too much of that and you end up with the unsatisfying situation of OP characters who do nothing and achieve nothing. It takes skill to thread that needle and in this case, I don't think the director and the writer succeeded.
