I liked the Drama I am not sure why the reviews here are mostly negative. If you are watching for Romance I wouldn't call this a romance story. The main characters are very young and there is very few romance scenes. The story focuses more on their lives and the battle against the demons. Even when they are together it's all in the midst of chaos or during training and they have very little time to go on dates when the world is almost ending or when their at school. ( First kiss episode 11 ) And they do get married. This is more of an action based Wuxia or Fantasy but one that you can watch with children or your family. The ML is essentially trying to save his mother and in order to do so he must develop his strength and powers so he can defeat people who are older and stronger than him. He goes on various missions alongside and with the help of his friends and mentors. The overall story wasn't bad in my opinion. But I could see why someone who mostly likes romances dramas would dislike this. I also see people complain about the special effects I am not picky in that sense I thought the fighting scenes were good. I don't feel as if the storyline dragged but there is a lot I would have wrote differently. If you dislike plot holes, there are somethings unsaid, not properly explained or inconsistenties when it comes to his powers or mother to help move the story line. And yes the kids in the drama tend to seem more smarter and adept at facing demons than the adults but this is expected from a drama who's entire main cast is children or young adults so that part didn't bother me. The villian does come with a lot of plot armor and the villians seem to recoup hours after a defeat if you dislike this type of writing. The story has a Happy Ending for ML and FL. Story also has a Happy Ending for the town as the demons are defeated. No love triangle but there is someone else also interested in ML and FL. The girl interested in ML stops her pursuits when she realizes is unrequited but the boy interested in FL does not stop. It's not my favorite drama but it was okay.
You can understand Gu Jin / Yuan Qi better as a character if you watch Ancient Love Poetry first.
I watched ALP before I watched the last immortal and honestly you can understand him better as a character if you watch ALP first. He was always living in his parents shadow and tried to do what he thought his father would do in that situation but still made so many mistakes. Even down to his personality I believe Tian Qi is to blame for his foolish ways in the beginning of the Drama.
where did you find this? is this true? because as a MM fan who hasnt seen ALP, i need to know!

MM is about Tian Qi and Yue Mi in ALP but their names are changed in MM because it's a different time period after they were both reincarnated I believe.

I liked ALP better than the Last Immortal if that gives you more motivation to watch. Also In ALP their son is named Yuan Qi same as the Main Character in the Last Immortal but he changes his name to Gu Jin so people don't know who his parents are. ALP is his parents love story.
I liked Hong Yi and Yan Shuangs love story better. ML and FL had to much screen time for me I kept skipping there scenes to get to Hong Yi and Yan Shuangs. After a while their story got boring. I would of liked it better if they had more scenes together
I watched Moonlight Mystique before ALP and I didn't know it was a sequel to ALP. When I heard there was a Sequel with Yue Mi I was hoping she married someone else and Tian Qi was the one with the unrequited love.
Wait so it seems FL remembers what happens every time she dies and goes to the Nether Realm seeing that she remembers…
She was always a Phoenix but when she died a part of her essence instead of going into a tree it went into becoming a water beast. That's why the old man at the tree said he recognized her essence
Finally someone who actually saw things in FL's pov. Until a few months ago, I have been actively replying to…
Yeah there are a lot of negative comments on here. To many negative comments so the reviews look one sided. I only commented for people who read the comments or want spoilers before watching. I never read the comments before watching I watched because it was recommended in another dramas comment section.
Ancient Love Poetry was a better rendition of Lovers who had multiple life times together. I didn't like how The Unclouded Soul ended but if you enjoyed it you will definitely like Ancient Love Poetry. đđ
If you like historical romance dramas or enemies to lovers stories, youâll like this one. I actually liked it better than Fated Hearts, which has been my favorite historical romance so far. It follows a pretty typical historical romance plot: the ML is very smart and strong and has to fight through a lot of corruption before he can finally settle down and find peace. The ML and FL develop feelings very early on (around Episode 6). Since they fall for each other so early, there are a lot more romance scenes and couple moments than in most historical dramas Iâve watched. Thereâs even a 1-hour compilation of all their kissing scenes on YouTube. First kiss (cheek/peck): Episode 9 First real kiss. Episode 21. They do fight a lot as a couple and are basically on-and-off until Episode 31. Then they have another big fight after getting married in Episode 34, but it only lasts about two episodes. There are scenes where the ML is mad at the FL and scenes where the FL is mad at the ML. A lot of people in the comments say the FLâs reasons for being mad are unreasonable, but you really have to understand where sheâs coming from.
đ¨ Spoilers starting here: First time: She gets mad at the ML for thinking she betrayed him and plotted to kill him. Second time: She gets mad at the ML for not saving her brother. Even though her brother deserved what happened, she is in love with the ML, and it hurts to know he would let her go through the pain of losing a loved one. The ML then traps her in the palace and doesnât let her go home to mourn. Sheâs angry at him, but sheâs also grieving her brother. These events happen very close together, so sheâs also upset that the ML doesnât trust her and throws what people call a âtemper tantrumâ about her brother dying and the ML not saving him. She stops being upset after the ML lets her visit her father and they hold a funeral for her brother.
Third time: Sheâs upset because she truly believes the ML could have done more to save the Cui army, but he doesnât and is very passive because there really isnât much he can do. Again, sheâs hurt that the ML would cause her pain in that way, even though it wasnât entirely in his control. She believes he could have tried harder. A lot of people complain about the FL during these episodes. Especially because the FL, wanted the ML to become Crown Prince; in fact, she actually forced his hand. She wanted him to take the position because she believed the country would be safest in his hands. The ML, however, didnât want to be Crown Prince because he grew up in the palace and hates court politics and corruption. He understands how bad the system is and knows thereâs not much he can change in this specific situation, while the FL believes he should have done more. The FL wasnât raised in court politics, she was raised as a war general, which explains her mindset. She also puts the ML on a very high pedestal and genuinely believes heâs capable of more. Because she never grew up around court politics, she doesnât fully understand how severe and limiting the situation is.They eventually get back together by Episode 36.
People also complain that the FL is mean to the ML. When they argue, if the ML is mad at her, he distances himself and she also distances herself because she knows sheâs wrong. When the FL is mad at the ML, the ML doesnât distance himself; instead, he tries to win her back, which only makes her angrier. She was raised by her father, and based on their conversations, he likely taught her to never let a man get the upper hand. You can tell from early on that she loves winning arguments. When she realizes she canât beat the ML or it will be difficult to beat him, she uses his love for her instead. This becomes one of the reasons the ML gets upset with her throughout the show. because he loves and trusts her blindly, and she sometimes uses that to manipulate him.
Overall, it was a good show to me. Episodes 1â18 are very hectic. The emperor dies, and there are a lot of mini wars, power struggles, and people fighting over land. ML is trying to return the throne to the rightful heir. Episodes 19â31: ML helps his father escape, his father goes against his will, and declares himself emperor. He then forces ML to become a prince and participate in court politics under imperial command. ML is still secretly trying to help the old emperorâs grandson become Crown Prince. A lot of people say these episodes are boring. These episodes have less action and have court politics mixed with MLs life as a war general and Romance scenes. I didnât find them boring. Episodes 31â40: ML becomes Crown Prince and gets married. The remaining storylines with the MLâs villains are wrapped up. I donât think the last 10 episodes were rushed, but they could have been written better. đ¨ Ending of spoilers.
Happy ending. No love triangle, but both the FL and ML have delusional, obsessed characters who relentlessly pursue them despite their love being completely unrequited. If you like other historical romance dramas or enemies to lovers I would certainly recommend watching despite negative comments before dropping. I would say this is romance before historical if you like just historical dramas you might not enjoy this. After Ep.20 It becomes more about romance combined with MLs Court Politics ARC
đSpoilers đFor me, it started off slow, then got really interesting, but I didnât personally like the ending. Although it was a happy ending, I didnât enjoy the storyline.
The way FL and her sister were written is annoying. In terms of romance, FL doesnât trust ML, even though he proves time and again that he is trustworthy. In the beginning, it was okay, but it dragged on too long, and itâs clear that ML is not the villain she thinks he is. FLâs sister, whose parts I skipped most of the time, comes across as controlling, demanding, and desperate.
I would have liked it better if ML had left FL for someone else, like in the original script, because she feared he would leave her and rejected him a lot. It would have been nice to see the roles reversed and the original script play out after constantly rejecting him where she is the one constantly trying to prove her love to him after he leaves her after all and the story line couldn't change
Quite OK, but ridiculously overrated heređą When I see many ppl commenting they've loved it while skipping some…
I disliked the FL acting and her voice. Her facial expressions never match the scene or their very monotonous. She once gave a disgusted face but she was supposed to be angry in the scene and In other scenes she tries to look cute but just stares at the ML with puppy eyes but it's not cute it just looks like she is in deep thougt. I still gave it a 9 because I liked the overall story. Might change it to an 8 but its a 9 for now.
This is a historical drama where there are going to be less skinship.
I am new to C dramas but I noticed the historical romance dramas they nearly fight to the end and have no time for romance because all of the corruption. This had a decent amount of time with them being together I will not complain lol đ
