We're at the "episodes long misunderstanding that could be cleared up with a 5 minute conversation" stage…
Really wanted the reveal to be from Chan itself. They probably wanted to add more angst and drama but I think it'd have been much better if she got to know the whole truth from him and then we could still have her process her emotions, get hurt, angry, breakdown, realise things all of it after that. But now the next ep will most probably be her getting hurt and processing a half or misunderstood truth until she finally learns about the whole situation.
Ya i noticed that too...and turns out our theory about the bf cheating is true?! But maybe it's not the whole…
Ohhh so it really isn't cheating?!! But it's not revealed in the drama yet though? Anyway I hope they don't salvage his character then, because he was still an asshole.
I actually also came up with the same theory!!(I posted it above haha) But I didn't catch him smoking in that scene. That makes a lot of sense and does clear some of my doubts. And yeahh, I so agree that it's too simple of an explaination for so much buildup. That's exactly what I was thinking too! But I think still better than it being unnecessarily dramatic making Chan as the sole reason for the explosion or anything like that atleast😂😂 I do think it looks like the situation with the ex, Sujin, their relationship and the argument in the lab is a bigger mystery now 😂 There's most probably nothing much about the argument too. But I don't understand Sujin's strong reaction if it really was just one sided for her and again Chan was still ignoring Haran. It could still be emotional infidelity.
I actually wouldn't say Mr. Yeon is being honest. Because he does infact like her and Hayeong was right about that. Also I actually just got this thought that on a more broader view, him and Chan are in kind of a similar situation😂 Both like the other person but hold a guilt that they haven't confessed and is the reason they think they shouldn't like them (Though the reason for guilt is hugely different and Chan's is much more serious and complicated) The difference between them is that while Chan failed to control his feelings and has at this point, crossed the line, Mr. Yeon is stern on not crossing that line. Which would make sense if we think from the perspective that he's been in this one sided love with her for a very long time. He's used to loving and caring for her in his own way from a distance(But I don't think he can resist Hayeong reciprocating his feelings so sincerely and breaking down for long) But for Chan, it's the opposite. He never imagined he'd ever meet her again, but now that it's happened, he couldn't contain his feelings and now wants to be with her more and more. But it makes their situation worse and more complicated because the truth isn't out yet!! Don't know why that comparison even came into my mind 😅😂
Yeah, probably my favourite aspect of the drama is also how developed every character is. None of them feels shallow. The relationships other than the romantic ones are beautiful and wholesome as well. Also, mnot sure how true but I read somewhere that it was originally planned for 16 eps. And I am genuinely scared about a rushed ending here now. Oh and also, do you still think they can kill Chan? I really don't see it happening but there sure has been a lot of foreshadowing. Anyway, I might not have the time and energy to watch the new eps this weekðŸ˜
We know that Haran didn't have a great relationship with the ex and she only got emotionally attached to Sunwoo…
He didn't remember the other woman back then. He only remembered about it recently now. And I don't think he got access to the messages again after the accident. He wouldn't have to "find" or look for her or even question whether she was real if he had the means to know and reach out. Also, the ex said he was going on the trip for a few weeks so they must've talked for around a few weeks too.
What I wanted to say was that I think he ofc didn't know or could've known that Haran didn't have strong feelings for her bf and that it were just his chats alone that created an impact on her. He still doesn't know that. And yeah ofc it's true that the bf asking him to text and gift her in the first place itself is enough to say that he didn't really care about Haran. But that doesn't say anything about how invested Haran was in the relationship either. But I don't think he even thought about telling her anything then. He just ran away from everything back then. He wasn't doing good mentally back then either. He even wanted to run away when he met her now in the present too. I do think that part of his character arc/development is to finally stop running away and avoiding his past. Also, I do agree that if Haran was told everything back then she would've moved on faster. But I've been thinking would she still be doing a lot better even if she knew how his bf actually was? Because she wasn't just grieving him but she locked herself as a defence mechanism to not get close/open up with people in the fear of again losing someone close. But yeah I guess if she knew it probably wouldn't have been such a great impact.
Ya i noticed that too...and turns out our theory about the bf cheating is true?! But maybe it's not the whole…
The ex bf is confirmed dead now!!! Atleast one of our biggest worries is out of the way 😂😂 I am starting to think he probably wasn't in a relationship with Sujin. There again hasn't been any direct confirmation that he was cheating exactly(Though if I remember correct didn't he once lie to Haran and meet Sujin?) But Sujin's reaction when Chan confronted was quite strong too with the way she said she lost Hyukchan in the explosion. But it could still be a one sided thing or were they just really close friends?
Yeah the reveal is just taking too long now. I honestly don't even know if it's going to happen in ep 10 now. The preview is honestly a bit confusing to me, i dont know if they're trying not to give away too much but no hints of secret coming out. Even if it happens then I think probably end of the ep. I have no idea how they are going to wrap all of this up in 3 eps. Grandma secret needs to be out as well which atleast it looks like it will be revealed to COO next ep. Also relieved that Grandpa too knows about it now. I have no idea honestly how is Haran going to face both these revealations and also recover from them with us only havinf 3 eps. I am scared for her. Oh andd Chan's condition is worsening too now. Damn 🤣🤣 I actually only realised now how much is happening in the story right now and how much of the plot is remaining to be tied up in only 3 eps now.
I actually don't really like COO's reasoning. I understand his guilt, I get it. But I think it's still a bit of a strech with how he thinks they can't be together and how cold he was to her with his rejection. Like you of all people know how she hides her emotions and hurts alone, so why are you doing this when she is sincerely expressing her feelings to you. Someone give a bit of Chan's greediness to this man too😂😂 But seeing Hayeong finally breakdown was really very heartbreaking. I love her so much and she deserves all the happiness in the world. They better give her deserved happy ending. And I need her to know that it's ok to not be ok!! But yeah I guess I wasn't expecting their story to turn out so angsty too hahaha
I was honestly annoyed by Yougyeom's leg injury in the earlier ep and it felt like they were forcing it to show all the Song ladies going through a crisis. But that arc turned out to be so heartwarming and I ended up loving it a lot. These two are just soo sweet. Even though I love all the Song ladies and their relationships but these two have grown on me so much in the recent eps. Such sweethearts!! Only hoping it's all smooth from here for them and he gets back to play baseball again and she actually did well on her exam. The other three couples are enough for the stress and angst hahaha
What a bad situation they are in!She has been deppressed over a jerk for 7 years and the ml is partly responsible…
We know that Haran didn't have a great relationship with the ex and she only got emotionally attached to Sunwoo Chan. But he himself didn't know that. He had no idea about how their relationship was or that she only connected to him and his texts. From his perspective, he probably thought he came between the two of them and he didn't belong. Moreover, at that time he wasn't in a good place himself either. He tried finding her, thinking she may be someone important (possibly the only good thing in his life then) only for it to turn out to be something completely different and that he never had any real relationship with her and again I think he felt he just came between something he wasn't meant to. After the accident, he just started trying to forget/block all his past and everything and ran away to start a completely new life.
Why did Chan's father have burn marks as well? And what's up with grandma's cupboard too?
One thing I didn't understand was Chan being so sure about the ex dieing in the explosion when he doesn't remember the details of the incident. Turns out the explosion happened in the ex's lab itself. And now it looks like that there was a fight in his lab between both of them. That'd also explain the wound Chan had near his lips that day. But from Chan's memories, he was outside the lab when it exploded. And Sujin is completely fine too so she cannot possibly be anywhere near when the explosion actually happened either. I think the chemical waste container dropped during the fight and it started leaking, but they all didn't notice it and both Chan and Sujin left the lab. Later Hyukchan lighted his lighter and the fire broke out which then turned into an explosion with Chan opening the door. Though I think there is still more to it because I still don't understand a few things here.
But I think they're dragging the secret for too long now and I am not confident it's coming out in next ep as well. Not sure how they are going to tie up everything in 3 eps.
Ya i noticed that too...and turns out our theory about the bf cheating is true?! But maybe it's not the whole…
Yeah I think you might be on the right direction with being forced into something shady or maybe there was some accident or anything along those lines that eventually led to the explosion. I don't think he blames himself for it YET because he doesn't remember it but definitely can be something he'd blame himself for if he knew. Though you're right that he thinks the ex died in the explosion which honestly I don't even understand how he came to know about it in the first place if he doesn't remember the exact details of the explosion itself. Maybe he came to know after the incident, then that'd mean he actually died there?
It also looks like that the bracelet sound is linked with all his new memories. So the bracelet might be the key that triggers all his memories to return. It does looke like that all his erased memories are somehow linked to her. This would explain why he forgot everything related to her in the first place. And with the bracelet girl come into the picture already things are definitely about to go down. And yeahhh, why was she going to the hospital? I still don't think its not the ex though. I hope not.
No, the pen isn't the same, but Chan just ordered a similar one from Boston for her.
Yeah I really hate the whole father redemption arc too. I absolutely hate when kdramas keep doing this. There's absolutely no need for him to reconcile with him just because he's "family" or an "elder" or whatever. It's so annoying actually. Walking away and not forgiving people who don't deserve it is absolutely fine!!
And yeah same, he really needs to tell her already. It's stressing me out now. I know he's scared that he will hurt her even more instead of making her happy and that he's starting to get greedy too now and all that but the secret really needs to be out now. It really feels very wrong and unfair since she shares everything and their relationship is really developing now. Seeing him dodge questions now feels wrong and kind of makes me uncomfortable. I actually thought that the conflicting feelings on his side would be present more persistently and while they still are present, the relationship is escalating quicker than I thought. I was expecting the memory recovery and the revealtion were done before the relationship reaches this stage. But ig it wouldn't have been so angsty then hahaha... His 'reason', I'd say is that he's scared to hurt her more now that she's finally starting to heal. And kind of also their conversation the next morning after the missed confession. But yes it's still an excuse and Haran deserves to know the truth and its is also no longer just about her ex, it also involves chan who is also already becoming very imp to her. Would also like to point that in the last scene of ep 7, I feel her would represented how he thinks he'd hurt her and it's wrong for them to be together but it's almost like he's giving in to his feelings.
Alsoo, the pile of hints related to the secret keeps increasing for Haran. I think we were right that she might discover at least a few things on her own or speculate maybe. And I don't know, I honestly don't even see Chan telling her about the cheating bit atleast. Maybe this is also where Sujin comes in. Its actually so messy😂😂 It's also probably going to be the same seperation route when the secret comes out
There's also this whole new possible indirect involvement of COO in their parents' accident. I hope it's not that he was related to the truck driver, but more of the guilt of not being their driver that day, though this feels less plausible right now to me. This feels a bit too dramatic honestly. Because there are already two major secrets yet to be uncovered, I don't really think we needed this. Or atleast I hope they don't make it a major deal or blow it out of proportion. The next few eps might just be trauma dumping at this point. It can get too messy. I hope things are handled well even though I am not that confident right now. I am really scared they might make the explosion thing too dramatic. And we also only have 5 eps left to tie up all these subplots. The next eps are going to be crazy😂
You weren’t wrong in saying this drama isn’t special but I’m genuinely curious how you think this drama…
Ohh, I actually interpreted things a lot different here.
But also it seems that you've got the timeline of events a bit wrong here. Because I am pretty sure that they chatted for a few weeks at least. And also he did not roll his eyes after seeing the messages before the explosion. I only remember him getting startled, checking the time and running towards the lab. I think he rolled is eyes the first time the ex asked him to text her. Also, the timeline basically is that the ex asked him to text her on his behalf once or a few times (don't really remember this part), and also gift something. This is the time period when I believe he wasn't interested in interacting with her. But then later their laptops got exchanged when the ex left for a trip for few weeks. So he started receiving her messages. He only actually started actively interacting with her from the day of the attempted suicide. And they most probably talked for a few weeks up until the day of the explosion.
And I don't think there was any suicide plan as such either. It was more of an impulsive decision that night, triggered by the fight with his dad. And her message that coincidentally popped at the exact right time disrupted him and he stopped. This is where he actually started talking to her. He was also obviously very isolated at the time so with him interacting only with her, she directly/indirectly became the only person around her. It also helps that she had a very lively personality back then, which probably affected him. So, interacting with her may have become the most happening thing in his life then and he started looking up to it the most. Though, it might still be a bit far fetched.
I also don't think the drama ever showed that his depression went away or his personality changed overnight. We're in fact even told and shown a few times here and there that he tried very hard to change himself and his life. So, I don't think it was ever implied that he changed suddenly but that the accident(a near death experience) gave him the motivation to change and live for himself. There's a 7 year difference between the different person we see now. I also didn't see it as she became the only reason to live after the accident but the reason that saved his life or gave him a second life. So, the reason that made him actually start living rather than the reason to live, kind of.
This is how I interpreted everything, atleast. And I definitely agree that this is in no way an accurate, realistic or in depth representation of depression. It is still at the end of the day of very fictional Kdrama story.
I was honestly hoping the revelation was done before this, but we'll see how it goes. Looks like the upcoming episodes are going to be heavy. The anxiety is really kicking in now.
Also, why did Sujin go to the hospital first thing after landing?
Ehh the argument that she changed too fast is still valid. Sure that’s how her old self used to be. But it’s…
Yeah it could be due to the no. of episodes and maybe they want to focus more on the things that are yet to unfold. I also wonder how she would react when they find out about Grandma and whether she'll feel like spiraling back to her old self.
Ehh the argument that she changed too fast is still valid. Sure that’s how her old self used to be. But it’s…
Yeah I do agree on this part. They did make it look too easy and fast.
Though I'd also say there are quite a few reasons why it may have been easier to open up to him. She was very self aware about her situation to begin with and herself showed the desire to come out of it too. It also helps that she was seeing and realising that Chan also had a very difficult past but came out of it and has such a positive attitude towards life. So all of this must have given her that motivation and push to go for it/give it a try. It probably even helps that it's just a 3 month "trial" so nothing that serious or long term or no big commitments but just to test things out and see how it goes. And I am sure she needed to get a lot of the things out of her chest. In this case particularly it definitely would be easier to open up to someone else than family.
But then again, I wish they made it more gradual and less effortless than this. Even if they probably wanted to show that it wasn't that difficult as she thought it would've been, it still feels too fast given how long she was closed off for.
At least based on what I have seen in Kdrama land, they tend to have the funeral pretty quickly - sometimes even…
Honestly yeah, it does sound a bit too much 😂😂 But I guess since someone had posted about that possibility last week, that was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the scene😅 😂 It'd still be a very Kdrama thing to do so we can never be too sure hahaha
I really adore the relationship between him and the Song family!
i think he did so much that he was trying to make his project work... what's weirder that the' not sent message'…
From his side, he wrote a quite reassuring message addressing all the important points and thought the message was sent. That's why he probably didn't check and then later just got too busy. Though you'd definitely want to check the reply. The explanation about the message was still a bit silly I guess.
At least based on what I have seen in Kdrama land, they tend to have the funeral pretty quickly - sometimes even…
No, we weren't even shown the driver or anything else about the truck. The only thing told was that the driver had a cardiac arrest.
But his character is quite interesting as well. It looks like he joined Nana Atelier around his high school days. The accident happened after he joined and now the funeral scene we saw today. And he really cares about the Song family a lot. Is it because he in a way has made it is his duty after having seen them go through really hard times? Or is it also because of the above theory?
I actually also came up with the same theory!!(I posted it above haha) But I didn't catch him smoking in that scene. That makes a lot of sense and does clear some of my doubts. And yeahh, I so agree that it's too simple of an explaination for so much buildup. That's exactly what I was thinking too! But then again, I wish they made it more gradual and less effortless than this. Even if they probably wanted to show that it wasn't that difficult as she thought it would've been, it still feels too fast given how long she was closed off for.
I really adore the relationship between him and the Song family!
But then why did he still have blood during the funeral? How quickly do korean funerals take place after the death?
