Sometimes, the things I see on the internet genuinely make me question humanity or just humans lol. I honestly wonder whether some of these people are teenagers or just immature adults, because how can people be so worked up over a fictional pairing? You don't have to like every couple, but why is it so difficult to accept that other people might enjoy a pairing you don't? Zhao Lusi is an actress, and she's allowed to explore different characters and work with actors of different ages. Not every drama has to cater to your personal preferences, and not every actress has to stick to the same type of male lead forever. The world doesn't revolve around your taste. Having an opinion is one thing, acting as though everyone else should share it is another.
I’ve watched till episode 20 and honestly, this drama is not for the weak 😭 I initially thought it would be more about Huang Yimei’s journey of self-discovery, but so far, so much of it revolves around her relationships with men. It’s not that complicated relationships are inherently bad, but I really struggle with emotional ambiguity, especially when it feels like things could have been handled more clearly.
The first guy and Huang Yimei had such genuine chemistry, and you could really feel how much they loved each other. But I wish they had made a clean break instead of avoiding the conversation and leaving so much unresolved. He seems so confident that they could get back together even after knowing she’s in a relationship, and telling her not to get married because he thinks it’s because of him? Sir, please Maybe it's realistic to still have feelings for your ex after years, even when you've moved on and are in a new relationship, but honestly, I don't fully understand it. If you've loved someone else, built a relationship with them over the years, and supposedly moved forward, how do those old feelings still have so much power over you? I know people are complicated, but I find it difficult to relate to this kind of emotional ambiguity. And instead of confronting those feelings and properly closing that chapter, it feels like they're just avoiding it, which makes everything even messier.
The second guy is fine, but his insecurity to the extent of checking CCTV is too much. At the same time, I think Huang Yimei was wrong not to tell him about meeting her ex, especially given their history. And proposing marriage after finding out about the encounter feels impulsive, almost like an attempt to secure the relationship out of fear rather than a decision made with a clear head. What bothers me is that even after being together for years, he still seems so insecure.

What is it about Liu Yifei that makes her chemistry with her co-stars feel so natural and captivating?? Because whatever she had going on with Chen Xiao in Dream of Splendor and Li Xian in Meet Yourself, I NEED to investigate lmaooo. It's not even about shipping actors in real life, but the chemistry is just so good that I'm starting to wonder if it's a Liu Yifei thing. 😂 I'll have to watch The Tale of Rose to see if I'm actually onto something or just out of my mind lmaooo.
I saw a post saying it’s finally going to be released. It was filmed a long time ago but apparently got delayed because of the controversy. Honestly, after watching The Early Spring, Dream of Splendor, and Meet Yourself, I’m actually so excited for it now!
Episode 21 was SOOOOO breathtaking, that confession!!! 🤧 She looked absolutely gorgeous in yellow, and the words he said to her??? GOSH, everything about that scene was so heartfelt and moving. And of course, the OST making the whole moment feel even more intense!!! The way everything came together was just pure magic. And episode 31 too lol, MY FAVESSSS.💙💐
Another great C-drama I’m so glad I came across! 🥹 This is probably the first drama I’ve ever been reluctant to finish, not because I wasn’t enjoying it, but because I simply didn’t want it to end. I just wanted to keep watching these characters live their lives a little longer. This and The First Frost are definitely going to be among my most-rewatched C-dramas.💙

There was something so comforting and healing about its atmosphere, the way it portrayed everyday life, and how it made even the simplest moments feel meaningful. None of the characters felt like mere stereotypes or existed just to fill a role. Each had their own struggles, experiences, and stories, and I loved watching them navigate life in their own ways. And Grandma Xie!!! Gosh, she’s SO adorable. 🥹❤️ She was easily one of my favourites.
And the leads… GOSH, Liu Yifei and her chemistry with her co-stars! 😂💙 From their very first interactions, everything felt so natural and effortless, both here and in Dream of Splendor. Their conversations, little moments, and the way they looked at each other were just so special. And the leads’ scenes paired with the Saddle of My Heart OST? AN ABSOLUTE GEM. The music, their chemistry, and the emotions in their eyes came together so beautifully, making those moments feel so intense and unforgettable. The two confession scenes were especially beautiful and genuinely brought me to tears. Liu Yifei is such a wonderful actress. Her performances feel so natural and unforced, and I found myself tearing up whenever she did. As for the ML, this is my first drama with him, and I really liked him too. I’ll definitely be checking out more of his work!
I also loved the little life lessons, experiences, and pieces of advice scattered throughout the series. The cinematography was gorgeous, especially the real locations and natural scenery. Everything felt so peaceful and lived-in. The pacing and overall flow were well done, too. I especially appreciated how every character had their own problems and how they worked through them without everything turning into something unnecessarily dramatic or superficial. It felt like watching real people living real lives, with all their little joys, struggles, regrets, and moments of growth.
One thing I loved most was how even a single episode could make me feel better. It became something I’d often watch before going to sleep because of how comforting it was. There’s something so beautiful about a drama that doesn't need constant twists or high-stakes conflicts to keep you invested. Sometimes, you just want to sit with the characters, watch them live their lives, and feel a little lighter afterwards. And Meet Yourself gave me exactly that.

I think whoever runs this page should remove the romance tag because so many people seem to be disappointed lol But seriously, if you're watching it solely for the romance, I'd say skip it. There are so many other C-dramas where romance is the main focus. But if you're open to something beyond that, give this one a try because it has so much more to offer and actual substance beyond romance.
Hopefully, she continues to do well in the future because the unnecessary hate she gets genuinely makes no sense to me. The hate she received during Overdo was ridiculous, especially from POJ and Tian Xiwei fans and shippers. And honestly, I can already imagine the same thing happening when My Life with You or Tale of Floating Cups gets released, with Zhao Lusi fans or Hidden Love fans finding something to complain about.
Now, there are already people making a fuss over nothing but RUMOURS about her and Weilong, saying he looks better with Jin Mai. Like, nothing is even confirmed, and people are already creating problems? Do these people not want their favourite actors to work with different actresses? Do they just want to see the same male leads paired with the same faces forever? Chemistry with one actress doesn't mean an actor can't have chemistry with someone else.
It's honestly so tiring. Let actors explore different pairings, take on different roles, and build new on-screen chemistry without turning everything into a competition. You can have your favourite couple without hating on every other actress who gets paired with your favourite male lead. Like kindly grow up and let actors do their jobs. 🙄

Exactly! This is what happens when fans of popular C-dramas start expecting every other drama to give them the same romance, chemistry, and butterflies. Not every drama is made to fit that mould. Some stories are meant to be uncomfortable, heartbreaking, and thought-provoking rather than romantic or escapist. The problem is that people get so accustomed to certain expectations that they end up judging every drama by the same standards instead of appreciating what makes each story unique.
I knew it was only a matter of time before people started comparing "Lament of Autumn" to Overdo, and now that it's been released, here we are.
Personally, despite the poor editing, especially in the first few episodes, I thought Overdo had a really good plot. The acting was great, too, and I think it did justice to its storyline and genre.
From the very beginning, it was clear that this wasn't going to be some fluffy, sunshine-and-rainbows drama or a lighthearted romance. It's a Republican-era drama, and the tone, themes, and storytelling reflect that. It's just disappointing to see people overlook these aspects when judging the drama.
And honestly, when it was airing, I remember people being so busy hating on Ren Susu and arguing over red flags, green flags, and that's all I can remember .Sometimes I feel like audiences get so caught up in categorising characters and judging their every move that they forget to look at the bigger picture: the story itself, the circumstances the characters are in, and what the drama is actually trying to convey.
Just my opinion, but I genuinely think a lot of C-drama and Asian drama audiences are male-lead-centred. The number of female characters I've seen get hated on simply because they don't make the male lead the centre of their entire existence is honestly ridiculous. A female lead can have her own priorities, ambitions, flaws, boundaries, and reasons for making certain decisions, but somehow, if those decisions don't revolve around the male lead or cater to what the audience wants from the romance, she's suddenly unlikeable.
And don't even get me started on the whole red-flag/green-flag discourse. Those terms are so overused at this point that it feels like people have forgotten how to look at characters beyond those labels. Not every character needs to fit neatly into a box, and not every relationship or storyline needs to be judged through the lens of whether the male lead is boyfriend material. Sometimes characters are complicated, situations are messy, and that's precisely what makes a story worth watching.
Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I'm not saying the drama is without flaws. The editing definitely could've been better, especially at the beginning.
