Wait, he dies?? I thought the novel ended with her giving up everything to be with him. If he dies, then they’ve…
In the novel, there are basically two endings, and in the drama they included a special episode, which is a happy ending, just as you're describing it. In episode 40, he dies after the wedding and at the end becomes a spirit and follows her – an open ending for you to decide if it's happy or sad. And the special, as I said, is happy.
I agree with you. I think the execution could’ve been much better. Add those few more episodes for the ending,…
My rating is between 8.5 and 9 overall. I liked the drama, I had fun, and I thought the ending the end could have been better, but as a whole, I liked it.
I honestly don't feel sad about how it ended. I ended up liking everything; I thought it all made sense, and I enjoyed the special episode. In short, it could have been executed a little better, but overall I loved it so much. I really wasn't sad or disappointed.
im really starting to understand those 50-70 episode dramas more....yall just have your tissues on stand-by.
Yes, but that's the case with several historical and fantasy dramas; in the last 10 episodes they need to cut the novel, which ends up feeling rushed, just like many others. These Chinese laws limiting the number of episodes need to end, you know?
Look, some people won't watch the special, but as I said, the ending is open to interpretation; it's happy or sad for some (I consider it happy overall). There was a wedding, and even after he dies, it implies that he returns as a spirit and stays by her side. So, for those who watch the special, it's a happy ending.
In the drama, it's a sad/happy ending because there are signs that he's with her, and the alternate ending is…
I don't want to give you spoilers so as not to ruin your experience, but the episode is beautiful, it has bittersweet feelings, a gorgeous wedding, and then, almost at the end of the episode, he dies. Then some things happen, and in the end, there's a spirit that walks with her. That's the first ending, which I don't consider a completely sad ending; it's an open ending that you can consider happy or sad. And there's the second ending, which is the one from the special, and it's happy. I don't know if you'll like it; I liked both. Even though the execution could have been better, I didn't think it was bad.
OK, so the ending is very typical for not a fantasy drama Xianxia and the extra episode is there to show that.…
Oh no, so it's another drama that suffered like Pursuit Jade. China definitely needs to release more episodes; the novels are too long to adapt into 40 episodes, they have to shorten and streamline things. This drama should have had another 3 or 4 episodes just for this ending.

To be honest, I would have preferred the special episode to be included in the drama and that the drama ending not to have happened, but given how everything turned out, I can't be mad, you know? I liked both endings, but I would have preferred a better execution.
I might not comment here for a while since I've already watched it, but thank you to everyone I interacted with in this chat, it was wonderful to follow the drama with you all.

Watching everything up to the special episode, I liked the drama. I feel like the special was meant to give us an alternate ending, and I liked it too. Overall, I don't dislike the ending because it was beautiful. I'm not that disappointed, but I did expect better execution. I'll give it a lower rating, but overall I really loved the drama; it was worth it.
I'm going to do a full review of the drama now and post it in the reviews section with a rating. Saying here that I'm already satisfied is a very solid drama.
