Yes, exactly! If the male lead is young and hot, the romcom gets hyped up like crazy. honestly, it’s rarely justified because most of these actors deliver mediocre performances at best. I feel like the cheesier and more forced a romcom is, the more successful it gets. and you're right , romcoms rated below an 8 (depending on the website) might be controversial, but they're usually the ones with real quality and originality.
personally, I think Lee jung jae is both handsome and an incredible actor. what bothered people was the age gap and the mere fact that someone his age was starring in a rom-com. NTNMY was actually witty enough to address it and poke fun at the whole situation

It’s an amazing romcom that deserved huge success. I loved everything about it, except for the lack of a kiss and the fact that there were loose ends left.
but I just can't understand the taste of most romcom lovers these days. the bad romcoms are usually the ones that succeed, at least those that i watched.

Actually, what I meant was that the enemies to lovers trope is really well done, specifically in Nice to Not Meet You. even though I don't usually connect with most romcoms because I find them too cheesy and formulaic, I'm sure there are other hidden gems out there to be found😊

In my opinion, there's a massive gap between the hype and high ratings this romcom gets versus how terrible it actually is.
the writing is awful and amateurish, the acting is completely over the top (especially the FL acting) , forced chemistry between the leads and it's just far too cliche and furmulaic.

I agree with you! that romcom was so good and very special. it was very underrated. if it was on netflix it could get a big hype but it was on prime video 😭.

Even from the promotion and aggressive marketing stage, with all the hype that I think was partly fake, I understood it was a bad, childish, and amateurish romcom. everything there feels forced and over the top, also the chemistry between the leads which i didn't see between them. I truly feel like they built up hype over absolutely nothing.

so i hope this romcom changes your mind. for me, it's my favorite romcom, and I started liking Lim Ji-yeon because of her role there. her charcter is complicated but very cute in her own way 😊

I didn't like her acting in My royal nemasis either. she was amazing in the romcom she did before that—Nice to Not Meet You. I highly recommend this excellent romcom. there, she proves that she knows how to do comedy and deliver a charming, cute character.

If you enjoy deep, mature romance and witty comedy. Lim ji yeon and Lee jung jae. did a romcom before mrn. i higely recommend it. It's called "Nice to Not Meet You". it's not the typical furmulaic romcoms, ut's more simple amd realistic. some people didn't like the age gap between the main couple, but people are often too judgmental and don't focus on what matters. It is suggested to ignore that, and if you connect with this style, watch it too. Lim Ji-yeon is amazing there. It is an amazing romcom with amazing chemistry.

Ah, I get it! I haven't seen Lady Ok, and yes, her previous romcom was called Nice to Not Meet You. I highly recommend it, if you like a mature romance that is different from the typical romcom.

It's was a satire about the entertainment world and about the enemise to lovers relationship not a biography. I think exactly the opposite. I think her previous romcom was amazing, unique, and touching, well made. I defenitaly got my dopamine from them, their chemistry was amazing. a world of differences between the two romcoms, but then again, it’s a matter of taste.

Yeah, some people love it, some were disappointed, and some really dislike it. I’m one of those who didn't like it. after all, it's a matter of taste.
