I like this drama and the comedy and I'm happy to finally have a male lead with an actual personality. He gives butterflies but he doesn't feel like a character designed solely for green-flag edits, even though he is one.

But I just can't warm up to the FL. I waited this long hoping she'd grow on me but her constant boundary-crossing since the beginning and the fact that she's been in this world long enough yet still does it, has only made me more convinced after the latest twist. And she always needs saving. If Segye wasn't around, I wonder how her life would have turned out. It feels like she can barely do anything on her own

So Mo Jingli is a one sided lover turned villain, while Han Mingxi is the supportive one sided lover? I kind of wish Han Mingxi had a romance with Ye Ying. Supportive characters deserve some love too

Is the assassin going to be a second male lead in Ye Li's life, or is he going to have a love story with Ye Ying?

I mean, isn't that the best stage for romantic tension? 😭 Once they fully trust each other, love each other with their lives and get used to each other's presence, it becomes harder to create that kind of tension.

Everything is ok but I was expecting more from their chemistry. I mean Ilike how they already act like an old married couple,she hugs him when she's scared and they don't do the whole this marriage isn't real shy act. I'm glad they avoided that cliché
but I still feel like they skipped a few steps. There's barely any romantic tension between them. I don't know if it's because of the actors chemistry or if the writing intended it to be this way. I just feel arranged marriage trope could be hotter

They keep making the same story in a hundred versions but still can’t give it a proper ending, probably because they know the ML fumbled badly and they can't sugarcoat it.

Even the FL liked liked the most good looking boy in her class when she was considered ugly. So at the end of the day, both of them just liked attractive people like most humans do. Let’s just say that and move on.

I suddenly remembered this drama might only have three kissing scenes at most, in my mind I somehow thought it would be really intense/hot. 😭 Did anyone here follow Reuters videos while it was being filmed? How many kissing scenes are we actually getting...

So the main plot isn’t their story and they might not be following the novel? I thought it was a romance focused drama

Till now it’s good but a bit slow. But once the ML fully warms up, there might not be much story left. I don’t really see how they’ll stretch it to 40 episodes, because the plot feels quite short to me.

Compared to the other one, he looks like a saint.
There, he showed no basic humanity toward the child. Even after learning she was his daughter, he didn't care that she had kowtowed until her forehead bled, never felt guilty and didn't even get her treated. He even threw away the medicine that could restore FL's eyesight because he wanted to keep her blind to keep her by his side.

At least this ML gave money for her mother's treatment. I can understand why he was cold. She had stolen things meant for his late daughter, and she reminded him of what he'd lost. That other ML would've never done even that.

But I get why u think he's heartless. Compared to what I was expecting, he turned out pretty decent here for me

This was actually quite sad. I felt really bad for both characters. I had watched another version before that was filled with abuse and child abuse, so compared to that, this one had none of those scenes. This version is also less dramatic and less ridiculous.

Fans will always find imaginary haters to fight. The top reviews are full of 10/10 ratings. I don't see anyone actively hating on it. Maybe a few neutral viewers watched it, didn’t enjoy it and left a comment

The last 10 episodes- 6/10

I still think changing her job wasn’t the best direction. She was way cooler before and before the leads relationship felt more authentic, like a real husband and wife.

That said, this drama made me feel so many different emotions. It’s one of those rare dramas where not just the leads but the entire cast left a strong impression on me. I didn’t feel the need to skip anyone’s scenes. I'll forever be a fan of this drama, which is why I still rate it highly

It was amazing if not a love story, whatever it was

Being authoritative doesn’t mean she has to speak like a grandma. She wasn’t a Dowager Empress. No one is asking for a high-pitched voice from the female lead either. You’re getting worked up over something that was never even said.

It wasn’t what I expected from the synopsis. And the second half really went downhill. Too dramatic

Use your brain and read my comment first. I never mentioned her accent. I was talking about her body language and tone, *sometimes* she carries herself like she has a hunchback. No matter the era, a young woman wouldn’t naturally speak and move like an elderly person

Honestly, 24 episodes are better. Even the best 40-episode dramas usually have at least 10 episodes that feel like filler
