Ok but this drama is literally romanticizing abuse. Maybe the ML will get character development but that doesn’t erase what he’s done. The SML was hated from the very beginning, so it’s not as if people only turned against him because he lacked character development. My point is that the SML isn’t going to get the same leniency you’re giving the ML.
I’m here for both tho. As long as the story doesn’t cross certain lines for me, I can enjoy both characters in fiction.

ML is just a coward. He was flirting with the SFL throughout the whole drama and never mentioned his girlfriend of 10 years to her. He just couldn't dare to do anything. I feel like both of them have checked out of this relationship but can't escape it because of the familiarity they've built over the years.

I don't think it's appealing to the audience that much. Reading it in a book or manhwa and watching real people pull these stunts have completely different effects.
