I was in a K drama slump after so many disappointments but this was lovely! It cured me honestly. The acting 10/10 The plot 10/10 The OST 100/10 If you want something light hearted this might be it for you, my only complaint might have been more a cultural misunderstanding than anything to do with the actual drama itself but really everything was great.
The actors must be great because the number of times I wanted to punch my screen in frustration was a LOT. Lu Xiao Fa in particular made me want to scream my head off, I generally do not like people that allow themselves to be doormats so watching this guy get bullied and constantly get used by almost everyone gave me a headache. From the Bei Lu Xin and her madness to his brother that kept using Lu Xiao Fa I was like "why?!" The chemistry was sizzling, acting as I already mentioned topnotch, OST fit the vibe. Worth the watch just make sure you get through the frustrating parts.
After watching season 1 I was so excited for season 2 and I was woefully disappointed. Explain to me why sometimes the pacing was dragging then all of a sudden rushed like patched up story, there was so much unnecessary stuff and plot holes. I just feel like the quality of writing went down with season 2 and some plots were to cliche and predictable then I had to check why the quality drastically went down. Turns out season 1 followed the original novel and season 2 diverted a lot from it the Director made changes that I personally feel were unnecessary and not to mention the end of Bale was so so under climatic
So just finished it and I liked it, I was not crazy about it but I would give it an okay score. The actors were fine but for some reason Ollie stood out a lot more than he's costar Shu Yuan. He was stiff too many times and looked like he's eyes were not in it. I can not fully explain it sometimes he looked like a hostage. ***Spoiler Alert*** This might be unpopular but I enjoyed the story of Dr.Fang and Zhen Xin and how both of them were having almost similar things happening to them as the roles they were playing, acting as some kind of mirror but with different questions. For Dr.Fang the question was "Is our love right since this is Doctor and Patient? Did I make a terrible mistake?" For Zhen Xin the actor the question was " Is this real love or impulse and desire?" If anyone noticed the whole vibe and camera change when it was Dr. Fang and the patient Gal Zhun it was more dark and gloomy while the story of Zhen Xin and Zhang Zhun was more lighter showing us the bridge between both. I love the after clip endings it added little something to the story and in the last episode it was so interesting seeing a sort of fourth wall break. With Ollie and Shu Yuan as themselves judging Zhen Xin and Zhang Zhun as characters.
