The antis only hate fan service when it isn’t masc4masc men abusing each other. Men being decent human beings…
Actually we agree in many ways but not disagreeing in the way you think. Maybe I didn’t express myself well.
FS in integral to Thai BL because the industry business model follows the Kpop model where FS that engages a queer audience is central.
FS is quite political. So international fans who come at Thai BL from a particular cultural background embrace the parts that look relatable to them and reject the parts they don’t understand but that are precisely the parts that have meaning for queer communities in Asia.
This is well documented through the Asian region in countries that produce BL, most of it focussing on Korean, Thailand and now more recently Japan but to make it easier I’ll link an English language presentation from one of the foremost English-speaking authorities on Asian BL and Kpop to queer communities globally.
Thomas’ talk centres on how FS is perceived among fans in Asian and how it differs from Anglophone communities and why. https://youtu.be/_gkIvEOMjGo
Very good review. I was blown away with Yoon’s acting from Ep 1
You mention the lack of consent - not in the bedroom but in terms of Yoon stalking Kim and and using the distraction that their sex play could be for Kim to finally persuaded him to come and live with him and I think that is the beginning of their consent arc in terms of consenting to be in a meaningful relationship based on love, as equals. Did you finish the final episode yet? I did and I am just so happy and still floating on cloud nine

Beautiful authentic BL series, each episode rewatchable many times, the acting and the growing love between the characters which started from just sexual attraction, blossomed over 12 emotionally and dramatically intense, well-acted, well written directed episodes.
Unforgotten Night showed us that complicated journey through care, commitment, knowledge, responsibility, respect and finally trust. They end up as equals when they started with one man being more powerful and holding all the cards.
It actually has a plot, there is a central dilemma on the mafia element that is consistent, credible and substantial; we know their businesses and why their rivals want to kill them every step of the way; and on the romantic side we saw the central conflict of both men’’s insecurities that was holding them back from love.
If you don’t mind your brain being flooded with serotonin, your heart racing and the high tension parts, or smiling for hours on end after watching both CPs loving each other, then this series is for you. Enjoy!
I actually didn’t understand any of those criticisms about the sex scene in episode one. If you ever had sex…
It is an orchestrated campaign by that fandom. People can enjoy 10 series you don’t need to trash something for other people to enjoy your fave. At least everyone notices it’s extreme so you know the criticisms are not genuine. Once can spot a genuine fan making a criticism and a hate campaign.
Yes Kamol killed it from Ep 1 with his acting! He moved, spoke and looked like a actual powerful man and he didn’t break character once in 12 episodes. Even if you’re not in the mafia and you’re a powerful man in business that is how you move, you talk; it’s slow, it’s controlled - the way he turns around when someone calls his name, constantly on guard and on the look out. He doesn’t scream and get hysterical. He’s not pally pally with his subordinates. Even with Khom who is his trusted confidant there is a line they don’t cross. A powerful man is never going to be caught scrabbling about on the floor with a university student while his bodyguard standby because that was just be ridiculous. Kamol contemplates every move before he makes it and honestly I was blown away with his acting from episode one 👏🏽
On this visuals, it always makes me laugh when people say his face is too smooth or pretty for the role because first of all that’s homophobic and I don’t think I need to say more. But when I hear it from English speakers esp Americans it’s even more hilarious as those people do not even know their own history because one of the most famous and deadly gangsters in American history was literally called BABY FACE Nelson.
So a lot of the criticisms are just ignorant and come from people who do not know anything about media analysis and know even less about BL’s history and impact because the purpose isn’t to just be giving people erections. BL is dealing with challenging homophobic stereotypes that even many queer people have internalised, and challenging STEREOTYPES about MASCULINITY especially imposed by western colonialism, as well as Homonormativity.
So I think UN really returned BL to its classical roots and that’s why it’s so loved. We need more like this
I loved this and hate that it is over. I loved Yoon in this role and Ton as well. I want to see them in something…
I actually didn’t understand any of those criticisms about the sex scene in episode one. If you ever had sex you know the more you get to know each other the better is the sex and I think they communicated the feelings that both people had that night (acting is first and foremost the transmission of Emotions) both in the moment and afterwards, and that was more important to imo than simple visuals.
My only demerit point would be because I would've like to see more care scenes, which seem to have been relegated mostly to the secondary couple or to Kim caring for Kamol, but I would’ve liked to see even in the last episode a longer time with Kamol physically caring for Kim while he was sick.
Yes we need at least hand holding from Khom and Baiboon but I hear there is a special episode so we might just get that as well.
Definitely a must watch, highly Rewatchable - I think I’ve watched episode 10 10 times as episode 11 was really stressful because it was the peak of the conflict, and I will be re-watching the beautiful finale episode for the third time this weekend. Loved it!
It’s the morning after the finale and I’m still swooning over this beautiful, romantic mafia series with some nice dramatic tension to make pure hearts beat even faster. HIStory3:Trapped lovers you’ll love Unforgotten Night too.
Just to remind everyone the unhappy incels will be mad hectic in this comment section after such a perfect finale so please remember that like Danil, angry and cruel people are looking for always looking for the love and attention that they don’t have, so don’t stare at them whatever they do. They’re working so hard trying to hate this series they will soon lose weight too 🤣
Bravo to YoonTon and congratulations to all the team at Y.Entertainment for an excellent job and for bringing happiness and joy to so many millions of BL fans🥳. Onto the next 100 Million views!
Can’t wait for the Special Ep and more of Khom/Baiboon 💕
I loved this series from the beginning, and liked that they added the surprise party. It wasn't in the novel,…
The antis only hate fan service when it isn’t masc4masc men abusing each other. Men being decent human beings to the person they love, being romantic and caring for each other, and treating each other as equals in a loving relationship is their problem.
I loved it and I’m glad the vast majority of BL fans adored it. Can’t wait for the special Ep and yes more of Khom/Baiboon 😍
This has been the most beautiful, romantic mafia series with some nice dramatic tension near the end. If you liked Trapped you’ll love Unforgotten Night too.
I’ve just rewatched and it’s now quite late but just to remind everyone the unhappy incels will be mad hectic in this comment section after such a perfect finale so please remember that like Danil, angry and cruel people are looking for always looking for the love and attention that they don’t have, so don’t stare at them whatever they do.
My heart is full! Bravo to YoonTon and all the team for an excellent job and for bringing joy to so many 💕
the problem here is the acting and chemistry and yes the plot is good but its not enough. No one should compare…
U2! OMG I love Kamol and I love his acting; this is his breakout role and I know he is going to the top after this.
The series already has 100 million views just on the studio channels alone, not counting GagaOOLala and all the rest, and within two months without the massive marketing Blitzkrieg others used to get attention.
Yoon is among the top 4 most popular Thai BL stars as of last week, right up there in the big times with Bright and Mew. He even beat their fave despite that fandom’s bitter disinformation campaign.
the problem here is the acting and chemistry and yes the plot is good but its not enough. No one should compare…
It’s not bad in the least . I enjoy and rewatched every episode because UN is classic BL.
Kamol walks, talks and moves like a mafia don and never breaks character once in 11 episodes. He is experienced in the BL field and he can actually act. That’s why that rabid lot is so mad envious under this comment section and can’t rest in peace 😆
Say what you will, but as a Mob boss Kamol > Kinn. In every episode he is seen working as much as romancing. And…
💯! Totally agree. Kamol walks, talks and moves like a mafia don and never breaks character once in 11 episodes. That’s why that rabid lot is so mad envious under this comment section and can’t rest in peace 😆
Lovely international fan interview with Yoon and Ton about their hit series, their acting work and future aspirations. Ton has a nice command of English and there’s also a good interpret https://youtu.be/C8efE_NF4uQ
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head - these comments are organised to dissuade people from watching UN.…
They hate it Because it’s great, it has a plot and the main lead can actually act.
No one in their right mind spends time and energy talking about something like this, not to mention trying to dissuade others from watching it, if it doesn’t touch them in a vulnerable place. Just ignore those unhappy people.
If their fave was any good they’d be happy for the next several years and spending their time shouting about how much they love it like all the really good BLs - think about it.
These are depressed people because their faves made no sustainable impact and the minute the huge marketing campaign ended everyone has already forgotten it in just a matter of weeks
A particular person in this comment section is unbelievable irritating. All she does is leave negative comments…
I think you’ve hit the nail on the head - these comments are organised to dissuade people from watching UN. It’s That fandom that is following this very good series, down voting it and trashing it everywhere. I don’t do reviews but I’m going to have to write one for this series. It’s the best mafia BL I’ve seen since Trapped from Taiwan and Killer and Healer from China.
It’s like a social contagion the way people from That fandom work so hard to stop people from watching and enjoying this series, swarming and dog piling even their own fans who have any criticism of their own wanna-be BL series that had a lot of shortcoming in the most important ways - like no plot and a lead actor who cannot act.
I saw someone in a BL community on Twitter criticising a shirt that Kim wore. That’s how desperate they are to pick at literal threads to find a criticism they can get other BL fans to laugh at and drop the series. I’m not surprised to see the rating for UN at this level too. It’s all orchestrated.
Good God, everyone please stfu with the negativity. It's not funny and it's not cute, it's actually quite irritating.…
These are angry and depressed people that why they’ve come here to be violent. Just ignore as much as you can. No happy, well adjusted person behaves this way.
When you watch a great BL you enjoy you and the other fans are still joyfully enjoying it years later and spreading the love. It’s only been a couple of months and already these fans of that series are depressed and are everywhere rampaging in their sadness and spreading their toxic misery on every platform
I just saw that Yoon is among the most popular BL actors in Thailand and he beat their fave of course, hence the overwhelming pain and despair you’re seeing. UN already passed 100 Million views even though it didn’t have massive advertising and marketing and has many other accolades.
Wow! The amount of toxic masculinity on display over this BL series by fans of a wanna-be BL that didn’t even have a plot.
The envy is palpable but I love how hard they have to work to find fault with a series that is actually BL and vastly superior to their faves ha ha .
They will soon lose weight trying to piggy back on this series because no one pays any attention to them anymore and it’s not even been 6 months and that forgettable monstrosity has already been FORGOTTEN
i watched the series since ep1 and to be honest i do really like it i like kamol and kim's chemistry and for me…

That’s exactly how I felt about SCOY when I wa the hate; we’ve all been Toh at one point or other, in one way or another if we’ve ever loved someone. But it’s only when we can see Toh’s humanity in the ways he’s different from us that we can give ourselves permission to human in all its wonderful ways.
My background is in gender policy mostly in the development/economics realm but one must have a multidisciplinary and intersectional lens to make social policy that will actually affect people positively and affect those furthest from power disproportionately so.
If you’re on Twitter please join us sometime with other SA activists, survivors and of course enthusiastic BL enjoyers 🌸
Thank you. I really appreciate your words and point of view. I really never understood why everywhere I saw they…
Yes, I’m really glad for the care and thoughtfulness they put into this series that helped many queer men, young and old, to see themselves in these lovely characters and to leave them with a sense of optimism and hopefulness about their own potential as non gender conforming men deserving of love and being treated as an equal by the men they love.
The majority of the fan feedback has been quite dispiriting but I realise we have to start by being more understanding of how hard it is for most people to fight our cultural indoctrination into patterns in which we tend to assign negative interpretations to actions undertaken by less powerful or stigmatised people in society, while projecting legitimacy to the exact same and often worse actions undertaken by the powerful. The more gender conforming the man the more people fall prey to these white-washing prejudices and it is highly irresponsible that the most highly capitalised BLs are the ones playing right into the pre-existing dysfunctions when they should be challenging them, as is the entire point of BL! I guess capitalism ruins everything?
Last week some of us on Twitter held a spaces on Consent in BL and the way we project our femmephobia onto femme characters like Kim/Porchay (Kinn Porsche) and now we see we need to continue this discussion next Sunday and now dissect consent itself, especially coerced consent a concept many find challenging to condemn but only when a highly gender conforming male is the one doing the coercing. Like some old fashioned consciousness raising.
I’m not often on MDL but I had to reach out and thank you for your lovely review which I’m sure validates and made a lot of Tohs in fandom feel very seen 😊
