I agree, she's an interesting character and a big part of the narrative, so she's sorely missed. Hopefully next week the writer will be able to better explain her absence.
In real life, she hurt her foot during a scene and needed to use a wheelchair. She tried to keep filming, but it was hard because she couldn't stand. So she'll return to set for episode 33 and onwards.
Unfortunately, the writers haven't done a good job in hiding her absence. We are just told she's "out investigating" without adding any other explanation.
I was hoping her absence wouldn't be as glaring, but oh well. At least she'll return next week (hopefully)!
I love this series of articles of yours!!!I have request for you, could you please come up with visual cues from…
Oh, I haven't heard about these films, but I will definitely add them to my PTWL with a note to get my notebook out and make notes! I have a "Visual Master" article planned for Sky Castle. But I can probably write one for these movies after that one. It helps that, since they are movies, it should be a quicker watch ;). I'll be sure to watch them in the order you described below!
As always, a great article that gives me some new views on cinematography! Thank you for putting in all this time…
Thank you, @Love! I'm happy you've enjoyed the articles! Hopefully the next one will be as insightful and/or entertaining as this series. @Lua and I have been planning to write it as an infographic about the various tropes found in romance k-dramas and what they tell us about the romance genre.
Thanks again for putting all this time and effort in these beautiful articles of yours!Every time I read your…
Thank you, @Penel! You have been there since my first article and I thank you for all your support and kind words! It's been really fun writing this series. At first, I thought people would just react in a "well, dah" way lol. As in, I was writing about very obvious things. So thankfully the reaction was A LOT better than I anticipated and it made all the time invested worth it!
And don't worry, you were the first of 6 people to request an article about Sky Castle, so I've already added that to my index (found in the profile). Once I finish writing the tropes one, I'll be tackling "The Visual Mastery of Sky Castle". I'm just about to start the series and, needless to say, I have high expectations given all the praise it has gotten!
And I want to add how this have been reminding me of that one lesson in my English class back at school with this…
Yes! I still want to do a small bite-size article about camera angles and what they mean. I'll probably add the shaking camera to that one as well. I just need to finish the already planned ones before tackling that one!
Although I also want to do a more "character" related article. A "5 interesting antagonists" sort of article, which focuses more on characters which are so complex, that they stand out from the other "baddies".
I really admire your efforts in these series of posts. That’s such a massive content and obviously a lot of…
Thank you, @AnnitsAnn! It was very time-consuming indeed, but I had fun. The fact that so many people enjoyed it made it well worth the time invested! :)
Great article @3GGG! My favourite technique is the 'reinforcing' one- I spotted this in the dramas you mentioned…
Thank you, @Corneliafudge01. Yes, "Fight for my Way" has a lot of visual cues, so it's a perfect drama to get examples from! It's also one of my favorite dramas precisely because the art direction was incredibly tight and well thought-out, so it was a pleasure watching it.
And yes, I'm actually going to write a "The Visual Mastery of Sky Castle" soon! That show has been highly recommended to me and most people praise its directing, so I have high expectations and can't wait to start on it! I'll probably finish writing the tropes one first with @Lua, since we have already collected all the info before tackling the Sky Castle one.
I'll be using my profile as a "index" of my articles. So whenever I start working on a new article, I'll add it there first with its "status" info :).
I love your articles so keep them coming! I pay more attention to the background and overall setting after reading…
Thank you so much, @Yuanwei! I'm excited for the tropes one because we've made some really interesting connections we'd like to share. Rather than just talk about tropes and what we dislike about them, we went for an angle based on data. After we collected some numbers, we started to see trends and connections. Which should tell us how we, as viewers, perceive certain dramas and how we tag them. Hopefully we will make it an enjoyable infographic :).
There are hints of romance, but nothing solid when it comes to the main leads. I think they care for each other, but I don't think there are any romantic feelings between them yet (maybe they'll add another season).
There is, however, a secondary couple that really steals the "romance" aspect of the show. The tag of "office romance" really refers to this secondary couple.
As to whether this show is good, I'll also vote for yes. If you like satires, then you will enjoy this one. Expect the humor to be quirky, over-the-top and absurd. This really is a "feel-good" drama which doesn't demand too much of its audience, but which is still incredibly interesting. It helps that there's some mystery involving our ML's & FL's past, of course. I still need to watch the last episode, but so far it's a 9.5/10 for me.
I can't wait for "Different Dreams". That one looks very promising. But I'm also looking forward to "My Fellow Citizens". I hope that one is mostly a comedy!
Though the art direction is all over the place, I really like the leads. I especially like the FL, who is a real badass! And I think it's refreshing to get a partnership where it's the guy the one who becomes the moral compass of the more cut-throat FL.
A good drama overall, but i would be lying if I said I didn't lose interest towards the end. I struggled to finish this one because, outside of the romance, there was little else to see.
Since I'm not a romance-centric show fan, so I had to give this one at 7.5/10. A good one-time watch which a bit too much fluff and not enough substance for my personal enjoyment.
If you like romance, you might enjoy this one much more than I did, though. :)
Yup, that is my concern also. I hope the writer will twist the story in a way where we wouldn't feel her absence.
I'm thinking they might have her fall off the radar and then when she reappears, she'll say she found info on someone. That would be a way to not show her in a believable way. Since she's very dedicated to her job (her character is), it would make sense.
Unfortunately, the writers haven't done a good job in hiding her absence. We are just told she's "out investigating" without adding any other explanation.
