Title My ID Is Gangnam Beauty Spoiler
As much as I dislike Soo Ah, I gotta say you're probably better off without a guy that leaves you for the prettier…
Yeah, I'd say Tae Hee (I think that's the chubby girl's name) dodged a bullet. If a guy doesn't want to be with her when he has options, then that means you are better off alone. You shouldn't be someone's "settlement", you should be someone's "one and only".

I thought he mainly shifted attitudes when he found out that Soo A was just using him. Nevertheless his feelings…
No, I think he was a jerk from the start. Remember when she rejected him and he challenged Kyung Suk to a drinking game (objectifying Soo Ah in the process)? He disregarded her feelings/wants from that point on.

He's a character who can't understand why the other person wouldn't return his feelings, let alone accept it. He has that "I know better than you" toxic attitude.

The fact that he feels betrayed is also absurd. Soo Ah never said she liked him, so everything he did was one sided. Therefore he has no right in judging her or getting mad. The fact that he likes Soo Ah doesn't mean he owns her.

I think his character is also a critique of society made by the author. Since there's a lot of people who are like this in real life.

Yeah I don't like him either. Just cause you like someone doesn't mean they're going to like you back. Being put…
Exactly! It's even worst because his own affections towards her are based on her appearance (so they are very shallow) yet he doesn't realize he's being hypocritical. To him Soo-Ah is the bad guy for having an opinion.

I loved your picks!! Couldn’t agree more with Kyung Suk and Gong Woo Jin! They’re so precious cuties!
Thanks! I just love when the ML allows the FL to make her own choices. All of these characters are respectful of each other and that's what sets them apart from the usual ML. :)

Nice article! Now I'll have to watch some of those shows since I've only seen SWDBS. My top five cute male leads (on par with Min Hyuk's adorable personality and not counting SWDBS):

5) Kyung Suk (My ID is Gangnam Beauty)
4) Gong Woo Jin (Thirty but Seventeen)
3) Noh Ji Wook (Suspicious Partner)
2) Bong Sang Pil (Lawless Attorney)
1) Ko Dong Man (Fight for my way)

I got really annoyed in episode 13 by that guy who likes Soo-Ah and dresses like Kyung Suk. The idea that he likes her because she's pretty, but then loses value in his eyes when she dares like a "good-looking guy (Kyung Suk)" instead of liking him is disgusting. Maybe because there are so many real-life cases of guys getting "revenge" on a girl (to the extent of using violence) when they dared to not return his feelings.

Soo-Ah's problems and personality aside, that guy's way of thinking is very toxic.

This zombie girl arc was ridiculous for this show style.
It is based on a real case and drug (it's a brazilian drug called flakka, aka the zombie drug).

In 2012, a naked man in the US even bit off a homeless' face when he was under its influence (just like Kang Center mentioned during the episode). It was all over the news internationally.

I am still watching this drama because I don't have other things to watch and I am a big fan of the manghwa but…
Every time I watch an episode I think about the same thing! I thought I was the only one a bit bothered by how slowly they all walk. And it's not just one character or a couple which would mirror real life (not everyone walks like they are being chased like I do haha)… but every single character! It's a bit distracting for me.

And, like you said, it's not just walking. They all react and turn around also in slow-mo. If I had more patience (and time) I would start the drama over just so I can time all those walking in slow-mo scenes. I bet they make up half the series, lol.

Tbh I was pretty annoyed at what Woojin did in this episode. Regardless of what his justification was, he was…
Agreed. I wished he'd talked to her before doing things in his own. That way she would've been involved in deciding what is best for her.

Plus all the time I was thinking that, regardless of the directors intentions, she could use the performance to find her family. Glad she pointed that out, because it was a logical solution to her problem.

Even if I usually enjoy this drama without any romance I can’t help but hope Kang Woo and Kwon Joo will end…
Hope is the last thing that dies! I do think the writers may be hinting at the possibility of a relationship since Kang Woo seems to have become fixated on Kwon Joo (and they have a ton of chemistry!)

I'm also hoping Kang Woo's psychotic break has to do with a trauma and, once that gets resolved, he would be able to heal. Perhaps the end of the season will have him getting therapy and season 3 will kick off with him getting out of the hospital.

Or, even better, if Kwak Dok Ki is the masked man's inside man (which I strongly believe he is)… then perhaps he's been literally feeding (he did buy him lunch on at least one occasion) Kang Woo a Colombian drug called Scopolamine (aka "The Devil's Breath"). Since they've already used the "zombie drug", it wouldn't be farfetched to use this one as well.

The Devil's Breath is essentially a "mind-controlling" drug, with the victim becoming hypersusceptible to someone else's commands. Most of the victims don't remember what they did during that time, so this would be one way to resolve the issue without risking Kang Woo's badge.
I've been getting the impressions these past 3 episodes that maybe Kwak Dok Ki might be working for the masked man... Maybe it's his obsession with Kang Center that ties him with the masked man in my mind. Like they both share that obsession. Plus, he would be perfect to give the masked man inside info on Kang Woo.

You are welcome and I agree. Her backstory doesn't excuse her behavior but it explains it. I always appreciate when bad characters are given proper reasons for why they became "evil". I am of the school of thought that bad people aren't born bad, they are made.

Can someone who's read the manga give us the back story of Soo Ha. I read a few chapters but I dropped because…
Just copy-pasting again the answer I gave to @Nad a couple of weeks ago :):

Episode 8 of the drama hinted at an important deviation from the webtoon (with the introduction of a grandma that seems to worry about Soo Ah), so the following is only for the webtoon version. I'll try to be as concise as possible, but bear with me:

Soo Ah's backstory revolves around one important factor: she's an unwanted child born out of wedlock. Unwilling to take responsibility, her mother abandoned her (referring to her as an "it" rather than a "child"). Unfortunately, her father didn't care much for her either and pretty much ignored her. So Soo Ah was raised by her stern grandmother (from her father's side), who constantly abused her verbally and physically.

With her father being a handsome man, her grandmother refused to accept her because Soo Ah "was hideous". The abuse and neglect got to a point where Soo Ah never washed because she was never told to. With matted hair and smelly clothes, she attended a school where kids bullied her, sometimes even turning the trashcan over her head "because she belonged with the trash".

At one point, her mom returns and, disgusted by her smell, washes and cuts her hair. Soo Ah asks her to stay, but her mom refuses. Before leaving, she tells Soo Ah that the least she can do is wash so she doesn't bother people.

When she returns to school looking presentable, her classmates begin to treat her better (keep in mind, this is the first time Soo Ah has been treated like a human).

As a result, she links "good treatment" with "beauty" and concludes that so long as she remains "beautiful" she has value. Soo Ah ends up mesuring her "beauty" by comparing herself to the other girls. Meaning, so long as she's "prettier than the girl next to her" then she's safe.

The sad and ironic part is that Soo Ah isn't mean because she wants to. She has such low self-esteem, that she truly believes the only thing she has of worth is her beauty, so when someone achieves beauty through surgery, she resents them (this includes Mi Rae).

Soo Ah's happiness is dependant on "being more beautiful than" whoever is next to her (notice how in both the webtoon and the drama, she keeps comparing herself to other girls).

However, it's worth noting that though she "craves attention" she doesn't really want to be with a guy. Men remind her of her vain father and the suffering he caused. This point is also touched upon in the drama when, after hugging Kyung Suk, she grimaces in disgust.

At this point I think we will see the FL reunite with him after she plays the violin during the music festival. It was sort of hinted that the director might want to exploit Seo Ri's story for revenue (when he said people will fight for tickets), so i think they will advertise it enough for the Dr. to find out.
