Yes, at the start she lends it to the ML. Then she recovers it for a while, but the ML takes it back. Last week she asked him about the necklace and he told her he didn't know where it was, but he is using it.
Loved the scene where the mom is caught between Kyung Suk and Woo Young, then immediately chooses her son haha. Of course she'll soon be playing a wonderful cupid for her son and Mi Rae!
Agree with almost everything here, except the music. I some of the choices made scenes turn extra cheesy (the lines were already cheesy enough), so i didn't like the music all that much.
Probably the most frustrating was the "romance" and how poorly all the women were written (underdeveloped, always thinking about a man, without real purpose, goals or identity). Though, to be fair, most characters came across as underdeveloped.
Anyone who read the webtoon responds to me if the senior is going to fall into Soo Ah's frames and walk away from…
In the webtoon there was a girl (she confessed) who was about to start dating a guy before Soo Ah breaks them apart.
So I suspect they will break this couple apart, since it ties in with Soo Ah's backstory.
Whether the couple survives Soo Ah's sabotage is another point. In the webtoon we didn't get a resolution outside of the guy confessing to Soo Ah and she rejecting him.
This drama is so pureeeee. I usually cringe during embarrassing scenes, but for this drama I find those scenes…
I grew! All the actors are so charismatic that they can pull off acting childishly without turning the scenes cringy! I really love the FL on this one!
Webtoon just released her story and let's just say, bad people aren't born, they are made. I had my suspicions…
Yes, I was surprised by that. Though we only got one scene, the drama seems to be hinting at the fact that Soo Ah may be abusive to her grandmother rather than the other way around. Though I guess we'll know more once we see "inside the apartment".
Another deviation to Soo Ah's character occurs when she returns Kyung Suk's phone (this never happens in the webtoon) which leads to a misunderstanding and then a sort of "fencing" of their relationship (into quasi-friends).
In the webtoon, Kyung Suk keeps a distance from Soo Ah and only really addresses her when she's doing something mean to Mi Rae (or when she's acting like someone she's not).
No, I think you've got the 'kiss' thing (really, the stupidity to act like CPR is a kiss overwhelms me) backwards…
Except that I'm not determining that the CPR was a "kiss" (I find it just as ridiculous), BUT the show is (and I guess the SK culture since it happens on many dramas, alongside other idiotic rules such as: a woman can't break out of a guy's grip, females have glass ankles and if a female lead get a leg cramp when swimming, she has to be rescued or gets drowned...).
So when I make theories, I have to consider the rules the show and it's culture of origin has set (which most of the time involve suspending my disbelief). In this case, 2ML called the CPR incident as a "kiss" and FL does regard it as a "kiss" as well (otherwise she wouldn't have worried about it).
Having said that, you might be right that he gave his power to her if we consider that he might've been keeping his powers hidden (meaning he was aware of them but chose not to use them). The problem with this is that, if that was true, then why didn't he use his powers to popularize his webtoon to begin with?
If we think about it more, this opens other theories as to why 2ML got his power:
1. The grannies sudden adoration of him might've kickstarted his powers. I think the timing is suspicious. Just as they treat him with respect, we're shown that he has powers (which perhaps he's unaware of yet). I like this theory because 2ML will become something of a tragic antagonist. 2. His hate for the ML fueled his magic. This one also opens up another theory. Maybe it's not that men can't be witches, but that they are forbidden to be witches because they become dangerous. If female witches get their powers from "love/appreciation" then perhaps male witches get their power from "hate". In this case, 2ML gets his power from hating the ML.
I do agree that ML is the FL's "fated guy". The reason why his kiss didn't fully recharge her could be because he doesn't quite "love" her yet. He's getting there, but he's still holding back. Proof of this is that ML does notice her mark flickering in one scene (before the whole ER thing), so we know he can recharge her.
Webtoon just released her story and let's just say, bad people aren't born, they are made. I had my suspicions…
Sure thing! Episode 8 of the drama hints at an important deviation from the webtoon (with the introduction of a grandma that seems to worry about Soo Ah), so the following is only for the webtoon version. I'll try to be as concise as possible, but bear with me:
Soo Ah's backstory revolves around one important factor: she's an unwanted child born out of wedlock. Unwilling to take responsibility, her mother abandoned her (referring to her as an "it" rather than a "child"). Unfortunately, her father didn't care much for her either and pretty much ignored her. So Soo Ah was raised by her stern grandmother (from her father's side), who constantly abused her verbally and physically.
With her father being a handsome man, her grandmother refused to accept her because Soo Ah "was hideous". The abuse and neglect got to a point where Soo Ah never washed because she was never told to. With matted hair and smelly clothes, she attended a school where kids bullied her, sometimes even turning the trashcan over her head "because she belonged with the trash".
At one point, her mom returns and, disgusted by her smell, washes and cuts her hair. Soo Ah asks her to stay, but her mom refuses. Before leaving, she tells Soo Ah that the least she can do is wash so she doesn't bother people.
When she returns to school looking presentable, her classmates begin to treat her better (keep in mind, this is the first time Soo Ah has been treated like a human).
As a result, she links "good treatment" with "beauty" and concludes that so long as she remains "beautiful" she has value. Soo Ah ends up mesuring her "beauty" by comparing herself to the other girls. Meaning, so long as she's "prettier than the girl next to her" then she's safe.
The sad and ironic part is that Soo Ah isn't mean because she wants to. She has such low self-esteem, that she truly believes the only thing she has of worth is her beauty, so when someone achieves beauty through surgery, she resents them (this includes Mi Rae).
Soo Ah's happiness is dependant on "being more beautiful than" whoever is next to her (notice how in both the webtoon and the drama, she keeps comparing herself to other girls).
However, it's worth noting that though she "craves attention" she doesn't really want to be with a guy. Men remind her of her vain father and the suffering he caused. This point is also touched upon in the drama when, after hugging Kyung Suk, she grimaces in disgust.
I love the manga just wondering F it follows the manga pretty well
For the most part it does, with some key changes. My advice is to give the drama a shot. Think of it as an alternate version of the manga/webtoon story. ;)
I'm really curious about Soo Ah's backstory, I want to know what made her like that, what made her want to ruin…
Webtoon just released her story and let's just say, bad people aren't born, they are made. I had my suspicions while I was analysing her character, and I was right as to her motivations. I seriously hope they keep the essense of what made her who she is in the drama.
Updated: Spoilers for Soo Ah's backstory (as told by the webtoon) in my reply to nad below.
Could that be the secret of what's on the tape? Him physically abusing Ji Eun Han because he wanted to make her a submissive?
Idk, just throwing things out there cause they are taking forever to reveal things haha.
