Seeing her with an assassin character in MJTY was so refreshing by comparison. Both voice and personality of her bubbly characters are hard to swallow, and I had to watch the first 7+ episodes of LBFAD on 2x speed. It was a struggle but I did get invested and enjoyed the drama. but I feel dismay every time I watch one of her works and she has to do the same thing... It's not her fault and she isn't the only actress who gets these roles, but she seems like the main casting choice for them
Anyway I got through LBFAD and enjoyed it so I was able to get through this and enjoy it - but it's definitely in spite of her extreme cute and pure act, not because of it lol

and does Fu Yi have more personality than cardboard shown in the book

I just finished the show and can only assume we get such a vague end bc of censorship board, but it's unsatisfying because the last we see of the world they saved was still under the red moon. I wanted to see what happened to Fu Yi and Mu Yao! It's also too sad if there is no Mu Yao counterpart in real life. He needs his sister T_T I need the 4 bamboo masters to keep their promise

It's a great show! It doesn't become an entirely different drama after episode 19 despite the changes - this plot has been overarching and long set up from episode 1, and painstakingly built towards while taking it's time to get you emotionally invested in what's at stake. The plot was always there, it was always happening, and it was never going to be a simple fluff slice of life

Miss Wu admires Tingyun and has alreadychanged her aspirations to be like her. At this time when YJX is the most lovelorn over TY, this girl who has had her way of thinking changed towards a vision of independence like TY appears. Personally, I don't think it will change YJX for the better, but I think Miss Wu can give us a satisfying end to his arc while hopefully rising above him on her own. I really don't see her shaping him into a better man and becoming a good power couple like the main leads. Thematically, her marriage as a concubine already places her on unequal footing with him, and once he sees the traits in her that he likes in TY, it'll likely only feed into his delulu tbh. (Tho I guess there's also a chance he once again doesn't see something for it's true nature until it's gone/too late, that loser). I can only hope Miss Wu gets a chance to somehow make her own life for herself and come out of it all a stronger person.

I'm not sure the emperor's anger is even that personal. He's clearly a deep thinker, and the way he uses - yes, uses - Zhao Ling isn't founded in benevolence from the start. However he publically reacts will be because he chose to react that way. This man is aiming for checks and balances, and knowing that his every action affects how the court factions react, he is definirely aware of what he's doing.

Somehow I don't want it to result in the Yu family's downfall, not in totality. I finally got to see Miss Wu end up in the Yu household and I'm interested to see what effect she'll have on the Yu family (and the Yu family on her). I'm also really invested in what happens to Madam Yu - I admit I just like her too much! I hope she's still alive by the end even if her life is far more humble.

Don't even bother with the remaining few minutes of the last episode because it's distastefully done season 2 bait and there likely won't even be a season 2

This did everyone so dirty.... If the ending wrapped everything up properly I don't think even half as many people would be asking for a second season. It was a great ride until that last scene good lord
