I love Simu's range of expressions she quickly shifts through when she sees DX waiting for her there in 16! She has so many feelings in that moment, and goes from relief that he's okay, to concern and pensiveness, and ultimately coming to a decision right then and there, and proceeds to switch to a cold demeanour. I love show-don't-tell sm
I saw someone confused about the ml here thinking he abandoned his goals in order for this arc to happen, but I think they must have forgotten the fact that DX has a ton of downtime regardless of his own plans right now because of the developments a few episodes back..
Let me clear the fog for you. Chinese historical period/period inspired settings, whether based in real history…
basically the logic of wuxia/cultivation settings is the FL's dad was a skilled martial artist who mastered using inner force and passed down his skills; not everyone has a good foundation for cultivating this, or knows how to do it at all. ig if its hard to make sense of, think of it as most humans are only using 40% of their innate potential, and those who train and master inner force is a journey of unlocking the remaining 60%, to varying success LOLOL The more ability you've trained, the better you can wield your inner force to jump greater heights, land on lighter feet, send people flying with just your palm, etc.
yea, quite obvious after episode 25... maybe adoration and infatuation. Can't blame the dude.
he did a really good job communicating the mixed feelings on his face without even expressing much or saying anything when he was with his buddies after seeing Changyu with YZ. He successfully created a despondent atmosphere, especially with his seemingly casual replies lacking energy in a way that's really clear to read for the viewer who knows what's really going on in his mind I JUST THINK HE'S NEAT
One thing I can't quite shake off is how much of a skilled fighter the FL is. I get the strength part. But to…
Let me clear the fog for you. Chinese historical period/period inspired settings, whether based in real history or fictional worldbuilding, all operate on the unspoken understanding that wuxia is always going to be real. You will always be able to cultivate 'inner force', develop qinggong, fight enemies like it's Dynasty Warriors Empires, do miracles with acupuncture and pulse reading, and detect poison with silver needles! They don't care about realistic fight scenes, they're Rule of Cooling it out here bc wuxia is more entertaining to watch for most people ahahah
Your comments are Weird, Why do you hate women so much??
idk if it's the same guy but it was the second completely unprompted and weirdly specifically targeted comment at women I've seen on an article this week, it's really exasperating
I read that the drama was supposed to be longer but then the Chinese government said dramas couldn't be more than…
evidently it didn't go well bc they already repealed the rule last august LOL, but not before screwing over this, TTEOTM, and many other shows yet to come out of approval stage
aight whoever i reassured ab that trashy guy not being redeemed i owe an apology since im less than 4 mins into episode 18 and hes already gotten romantic music for kissing a girl
Culturally, even during ancient times in China, it's was actually normal for men have worn flowers in their hair.…
Duke Su did receive a flower from the FL in his hair, and also, you are correct in that there is historical record of men wearing flowers in their hair as a normal part of established fashion and culture for a time. It's not like there's anything wrong with makeup and flowers on men anyway, aesthetic expression has always been ephemeral. A lot of things women wear now are what only men wore first, like frills and high heels LOL
Overall, I would say this was an ok adaptation. I absolutely loved the novel and the author's works. Her previous…
oh my god it's the same author!? Those are amazing, it really is a shame then because in that case I agree this could benefit from more episodes. I'm not even that far in but I feel like they have to skip over so much, and from what I'm reading in other comments there is wasted potential. It's a shame too since the 40 episode limit has already been repealed... I'm afraid we have yet to see a lot more dramas to suffer from the limit as they come out of the approval stages one by one
Can you believe the director is the one that did the Double? I mean that was so good, yet this is so bad. I can't…
The Double is one of my absolute favourites, this is so crushing to read! Even 11 episodes in, I never would've guessed this is the same director. I wonder if they completed filming before the 40 episode limit passed and had to cut it down, and then lost like 3 episodes due to censorship cuts too... The editing is really doing a lot of time skips. I'm having a good time overall, but The Double is like the complete opposite in terms of presentation and execution. It's a tightly woven story wrapped in a bow with complete intent and symbolism in every scene (really only the academy arc was jarring because of the sudden tonal departure we took for that arc, but it was still a good time LOL). I'm just as baffled as you are! Is the novel any better? I might switch over
