《 To be honest, there are many things in life that can't be solved. When something is beyond your capacity, no matter how much you struggle internally or drain yourself mentally, it's useless — it simply can't be solved. That way, not only do you feel miserable, but the problem still isn't resolved. So I'd rather stop thinking about it, and just let it go. 》 This was the most depressing quote in the article to read. This man is burnt out 1000%. At the very least, he needs time to recover from that.

When I entered college, I was very ambitious and energetic, had much the same energy. I had all kinds of dreams and used to have so many stories in my head.
Now I'm about his age, and I have changed like him - which is why it's depressing.
I became like this because of disillusionment, under the weight of a flawed world crushing you down under its boot. I am still recovering from burnout, but nothing can recover my dreams, my ambitions, my faith in the world or my belief that a better world is possible. I am always so, so tired.
What exactly do I have to be excited about?

She gets to show a lot more of her acting chops in this drama and I absolutely LOVE it!
YES!! Literally looked forward to this airing to be able to watch her in it LOL
I think she does a really good job of showing HSM's personality both directly and indirectly. Yes she can be aloof and indifferent, she can even be commanding and callous, and then she'll spend her time with the senses having fun playing around. The difference is highlighted once she's in the void, where you can see more of the reasons why she behaves the way she does in different situations. She *had* to be able to be cold, commanding and stoic because of the nature of her position, so while having sense allows her to experience being human, being around Duan Xu himself lets her experience being a *person*. She doesn't have to be the Sovereign all the time

I just entered the spirit world in novel and he's not useless. he's learning the hierarchy and have met a Chong…
He needs to learn about her and the void for the sake of not only the plot but the narrative requirements for the relationship to be able to succeed permanently later. She almost went with him to Nandu, but if she had, probably not enough would change about their relationship for it to truly materialize into anything that lasts. This is basically a narrative device that happens in a lot of stories, where a couple almost gets together but something holds them back at the last second because they haven't actually solved all of their problems yet in order for the relationship to truly work out (which usually those problems also tie into the plot). It also lays out the reasons why HSM has reservations ab letting herself have feelings for him, and answers questions the viewer might have ab why they can't just be together now (i.e. why cant she just take him back to the void and why can't she just be with him in the human world - he needs to have his sense in the void to clearly show that it really isn't good for humans to live there)

But also, certain characters need to see his relationship to her, see he has the sword, etc. Setting up a lot of things for the plot later. I imagine both the war and the void matters might intermix later and have some shared problems. I don't get why people think nothing is going on when there's clearly a lot going on, the same way people complained several episodes of POJ were "filler" until they saw the narrative payoff. Is it just impatience?

I would like to point out a few things if I may just to have a reality check! 1. Artistic freedom is non existent…
Everyone should be reading this comment! ^^^^ Remember to keep your critical awareness of the media you engage with so that you can enjoy the things you like while not falling for propaganda, and recognize that a lot of the artistic decisions had to made in the context of passing the censorship of an authoritarian regime
It sucks but it's important!

I don't understand why they would bash the actor, the Director was only following what was written in the book.…
in recent years the CCP has taken on a very antagonistic stance to 'feminine men', like the way kpop idols look
this is more of their propaganda, and since there is no freedom of speech people can't take a stance against this when it's coming from an official military account unless they want to face the consequences
imagine how much more could be done with art if the whole world didn't put so many various limitations for their own agendas, smh

Title Love beyond the Grave Spoiler
Question for novel readers…
According to a comment elsewhere there is no amnesia arc in the novel, so I'm just gonna pray they handle it well...

Considering he just got politically stripped down and literally said that now the army will have nothing to do for a while (because of the political intrigue and hierarchy), what exactly is he supposed to do that can't just be done when he gets back?

People seeing a character with personality and layers: ?????

DX has had a really consistent portrayal the whole time, idk what makes people unable to read the screen since he showed he was sly and capable of amused banter right from episode 1, along with having a penchant for levity (which apparently some people can't grasp as a coping mechanism and think every traumatized person has to be dark and sober all the time). By some of the logic I've seen in the comments you'd think they expect a newscaster to go home after work with the exact same speech and stoicism as when they're on the job

I love Simu's range of expressions she quickly shifts through when she sees DX waiting for her there in 16! She has so many feelings in that moment, and goes from relief that he's okay, to concern and pensiveness, and ultimately coming to a decision right then and there, and proceeds to switch to a cold demeanour. I love show-don't-tell sm

I saw someone confused about the ml here thinking he abandoned his goals in order for this arc to happen, but I think they must have forgotten the fact that DX has a ton of downtime regardless of his own plans right now because of the developments a few episodes back..

Let me clear the fog for you. Chinese historical period/period inspired settings, whether based in real history…
basically the logic of wuxia/cultivation settings is the FL's dad was a skilled martial artist who mastered using inner force and passed down his skills; not everyone has a good foundation for cultivating this, or knows how to do it at all. ig if its hard to make sense of, think of it as most humans are only using 40% of their innate potential, and those who train and master inner force is a journey of unlocking the remaining 60%, to varying success LOLOL The more ability you've trained, the better you can wield your inner force to jump greater heights, land on lighter feet, send people flying with just your palm, etc.

yea, quite obvious after episode 25... maybe adoration and infatuation. Can't blame the dude.
he did a really good job communicating the mixed feelings on his face without even expressing much or saying anything when he was with his buddies after seeing Changyu with YZ. He successfully created a despondent atmosphere, especially with his seemingly casual replies lacking energy in a way that's really clear to read for the viewer who knows what's really going on in his mind
I JUST THINK HE'S NEAT

Let me clear the fog for you. Chinese historical period/period inspired settings, whether based in real history or fictional worldbuilding, all operate on the unspoken understanding that wuxia is always going to be real. You will always be able to cultivate 'inner force', develop qinggong, fight enemies like it's Dynasty Warriors Empires, do miracles with acupuncture and pulse reading, and detect poison with silver needles! They don't care about realistic fight scenes, they're Rule of Cooling it out here bc wuxia is more entertaining to watch for most people ahahah
