Title Overdo
Synopsis doesn't sound anything like Ru Guo Zhe Yi Miao, Wo Mei Yu Jian Ni, but does remind me of a few short series I have watched. Have to wait to see what they actually release. But I think Linghe fans would absolutely flip out if he played the original Murong Qingyi.

Made it to ep3. I want to like it. But the mom is making it hard for me to press play. So frustrating. I mean I get that she is supposed to be overbearing and that drives the whole thing but, damn, she gets under my skin. Does it get better? Does she get dramatically less screen time per chance?

Only 1 episode to go and I am so uninvested. I don't know if it is because this market is grossly oversaturated or bc we had a couple of really terrific Thai BLs come out in the past couple of years and the bar was raised, but I, too, am bored.

Tbh I liked the 1st 2 episodes and then 3rd felt like I stepped back into Thai world of bl 5 years ago. 4th episode it became a Dormundi cutsey reunion, which is fine if you want that....I just wanted the show I thought I was watching. Ugh.

I'm stopping a few min into ep 1 to give a huge Thank You for making me smile to whoever decided to add the hand-stand pushup. That was the best part of my day and seriously, whether this goes south or not, I have no regrets now!!

Title Dazzling
Seriously, we've got a Gobi Desert in the book? I felt the OG source wasn't that interesting so I never made it…
Tbh, there's so much difference. Prob the biggest thing in my mind is how limited in scope the series is. I expected a focused love story but the novel has that but it encompasses larger love such as that of "outsiders" and "undesirable" semi-rural china and the value that even street people bring to the community...trying not to spoil...also how characters think or their experiences or choices they make and how they interact...the subtle humor feels missing. When I started reading it, tbh it took a little while to get into it. What first caught my attention was that the novel and the show immediately felt very different. The series felt boring but there were fans that raved about the novel so I just held on with the novel and got hooked. All the questionable issues or boredom was knocked out via the novel.

Title Dazzling
I believe it's best not to compare the original source and the drama/film. It's a different product and should…
I hear ya. Sometimes I favor a novel, other times a series, a few times I've liked both a novel and adaptation that differed...but most times, I go in knowing there will be differences and am fine about it. Dazzling just really so stripped and morphed that a multifaceted gem is unrecognizable.

I started reading the book and now I have to drop the series. This adaptation completely baffles me. I can see where maybe a scene or two might "fade to black" due to censorship....maybe....but wt!^$&. The screenwriters omitted the underlying theme, intellectual commentary, completely changed the essence of main and secondary characters.....I mean they even changed the freaking Gobi desert to the seaside. The series feels like some weird inspired loosely by or shared universe, but definitely not Dazzled. Why do I care? Because it is actually multi-dimensional and good.
Maybe someone will do a worthy remake in the future. Or another country will try a true adaptation. As for people hating on this writer- it's so obvious that they haven't taken the time to really read it. Fos

Correct synopsis: "A high society Taipei pimp with a real estate side hustle becomes involved with the pregnant mistress of a married and comatose business tycoon" (from Tubi).
This description also pretty much says it all. Acting etc is great, it's just do you want to watch a slice of life on this subject matter. Probably checked out by most because of sexual content.

@ep5, only thing I've seen dazzling is Wu's hair when wet. Someone wrote that the series feels cathartic. I can see that.

Beautiful. I watched it bc I'm a fan of both Qu Chu Xiao and Wang Zi Wen. Once again, they were terrific. Even the child actors did an amazing job. I definitely recommend. If you watch it, make sure to watch through ending credits.

Them talking in English made me so cringe lol
Kids at my hs always busted out in any language they could pick up whether though classes, media, or home- so to me it feels like- oh, they do that too.

It's gone from hilarious and entertaining to thoughtful and insightful- a change that has pleasantly surprised me. I've loved this series because not only is it very relevant but it had me literally bursting out laughing multiple times (nice). Now, it cleverly comments on coping with drama and social responsibility. Indeed you can't judge a book by it's cover. Usually, I watch heavier stuff and I am glad I didn't dismiss this.

The synopsis sounds like a morph of Love and Deception. Anyone seen both? What's your take?
