I thought the exact same thing too, but I started watching it and I absolutely love it! It's not a 10/10 but I…
I will join the shallow discussion! I personally did not like the ML looks at the beginning but it is a slow burn romance and by the end you will be head over heels for him just as the FL is. Of ALL the Chinese dramas I have watched, they are my favorite couple. On the other hand, out of all the Chinese dramas I have watched the second couple in this drama has by far the worst relationship/plot. It was definitely a mixed bag except for the two leads relationship and their respective personalities which were phenomenal. (IMO)
Let the watering down unnecessary episodes begin!! 6 episodes looking for her! SMH, the flow of the drama was…
I would also agree that episodes 26-30 were a little bit of a let down expecially when we are waiting everyweek for six eps eng sub. But, we did get some great character development and some great set up which I expect to pay off next week with eps 31+. Another note is that the episodes have been so great and fast paced that good episodes now seem slow.
Is there a group out there that has a watch party on viki for the premier everyday or does anyone want to start one with me? It premiers at 2pm Berlin/8pm Beijing/8am EST fully eng subbed.
Top scenes I have replayed over and over and over and over (Cause they are my favorite) (up to episode 24) 1: Chang Ge waking out the front gate with the governor's head in a box with the snow falling around and the opening theme singing of abandonment but also hope. That was so sad but also so inspiring. 2. The whole scene where Chang Ge sets up a trap for Hao Du to spring, Hao Du kicks some ass, and we get the princess swap. I love when great plotting pays off in some great action. 3. Leo Wu deflecting the arrow, Chang Ge's relief, and that beautiful punch :) :).
seems like they switched their personalities. in the manhua, he was the impulsive one.
That's actually really interesting to think about. In the Manhua, I really enjoyed the fact that he was an unstable, emotional, sometimes irrational general. But here, Chang Ge being an unstable, emotional, sometimes irrational strategist just makes me a little mad. I think it is because this is a trope in dramas for woman and I was looking forward to it being the other way around but maybe I just need to realize I am pretty biased. I am really enjoying the drama anyhow.
The long wait is almost over! (at least for this week) Lets have some fun, if you where Ashile Sun, what would your three wishes of Chang Ge be? (or what do you think they will be). Remember, none of them can be ruthless or deal harm to Tang. Mine: 1. "Find a way for the Eagles to become less dependent on the great Khan" 2. "Kill Sher" 3. "Stay with me" (or an impossible task to make her stay)
Chang Ge was shooting to kill obliviously but I am less clear on Sun. I read it as he shot to kill also and the arrow was deflected. But he could have also shot to miss and the deflected arrow hit, or he somehow shot to deflect hoping both would miss or he could have shot to specifically hit the exact spot she got shot in before by artfully bouncing it off of her arrow (lol). How do others read it?
