This is my favourite drama of 2021 so far.
I could happily listen to Lao Wen going "Ah Xu" all day long....
Thanks for the article...

Am I the only one who finds Shi Yinniang's character annoying? Maybe because I keep comparing her character with the novel version, her flaws stand out all the more... She's behaving like a typical white lotus female lead, who always treats everyone with kindness, no matter how badly they treat her. Even the people who scheme against her, get forgiven and she's...oh so ready to treat them with full sincerity- the typical Mary Sue...I simply couldn't watch past ep 22...Yes, I'm talking about her sister.
And the fact that Qiao Yinniang could actually outwit her.... that never would have happened with the original Shiyi. She's way too intelligent for that. And she absolutely would never do anything to jeopardize her position as Yongping Hou furen, because Shiyi is nothing if not level-headed and realistic. And the story is supposed to be set in Ming Dynasty for God's sake, and yet she frequently goes out and meets with men other than her husband, sneaks out in servant clothes...like the entire script is sooo messed up. I'd already given up when I realized that they planned to have Ersao raise Jie ge...but I still held on...and for what???? The hell was that? How could they do this to this wonderful novel? It's barbaric, a sacrilege...
I've never rated a drama below 7 in MDL, but they've gone too far this time. I'm never again watching a drama from this scriptwriter. I just heard from AvenueX that she was the same person who'd butchered Wei Yang.

Yes they completely destroyed the character of Shiyi. I hope they can turn things around.
Why is it that they absolutely need a secondary male and female lead? They did the same with Minglan. But there at least the character actually existed in the novel. But there is no such character, or triangle in original novel for Jin Xin Si Yu.
The court politics as well... why did they have to get rid of his sister, the Empress?
On L.U.C.A.: The Beginning Mar 10, 2021
I would've been more than ready to rate it a 9 or 9.5 after watching the first 8 episodes. But no, the last four episodes had to ruin it. What the hell were the scriptwriters thinking??? They should've stopped while they were ahead...showed the two of them riding off into the sunset, and called it a day.
I wish I could erase the last 4 episodes from my memory....
On The Sword and the Brocade Mar 10, 2021
The hell...
They've completely butchered thee novel plot.
This is turning into any other romance drama, contemporary or otherwise....
The best things about the novel were Jie ge and the complete trust and understanding between Xu Lingyi and Shi Yinniang (there was never any misunderstanding between the two)...and they've taken both out.

I don't read the original novel so i don't know how different this drama from novel. From my understanding why…
Oh yes...totally a fan of Qian Shan Cha Ke. XJX is my bae.....
On The Sword and the Brocade Mar 6, 2021
I don't get why they had to alter the original novel's plot so much. There really wasn't any need for her mother's death, right? Or is it because they didn't want Daniangzi to hold any weakness of Shiyinniang later on? And for Lao Taitai to be so biased in Qiao Lianfang's favour....
The drama's doing great too, but I hope they don't change it too much, which they probably will as can be assumed from the trailers. So I'm kinda dreading the future plotline.
The best thing I liked about the original novel was Shiyinniang's calm and cool as ice practical approach to dealing with every situation, as well as her relationship with the kids, particularly with Jie ge. But they're already changing his character....

That smirk at Simon Gong's face every time he look at Zhang Zhe Han made me grin like an idiot!!!!
OMG...same here.
Everytime he goes Ah Xu, I just die.....My cheeks are hurting from grinning so hard.
Gong Jun has made the character sooo damn real. I never thought he'd act sooo well.

I think censorship will mess up the malicious empress drama so I don't have high hopes plus I saw somewhere it…
What? For real?
How can they do that?????

This has to be the first cdrama I've followed ever since the rumors of an adaptation came out. Can't believe they're going to begin shooting next week...
Like Tian Ya Ke/ Shan He Ling, I hope the scriptwriter is a fan of Priest, because so far, it has made Shan He Ling a joy to watch. They're not even toeing the line between friendship and romance, and I love it. I really really hope the same happens with Mo Du. Because it's the best amongst all of Priest's novels (in my opinion), and it deserves a stellar adaptation.
Fei Du is such a complex character...I really really hope that Zhang Xincheng plays him well.
