there are some characters that I don't really find as strong from this list, but it's nice to see diff opinions here :) I personally found the female lead in Save Me to be one of the strongest leads ever. also, Go Haeri from Vagabond was amazing as well!

oh right! the female lead in My Mister was also very unique and unlike any other female lead, I don't think much drama writers create female leads in the way they made her character. we need to see more leads like her.

I really want to thank you for this post, I love this actor ever since Save Me but I didnt know much about him so reading more about his works makes me feel a lot more assured! he's such a great actor omg he only got lead roles a few years ago, yet he nails them like he was in the acting industry for centuries *claps*

his character in Save Me was perfect. he was willing to go through whatever it took in order to protect what was right. his love for his grandmother though.. my heart :*( then, I was so excited for Mad Dog, but the plot was kinda too hard for me to catch up with lmao but he was still great there, love how he was supposed to appear as the heartless dude but was so sweet on the inside! then was the Great Seducer... I wish that drama didnt exist tbh it seemed like it would be interesting but idk it just wasnt... the female lead was like every other typical female lead plus some of the characters got so twisted at the end for the dumbest reasons I had to drop the drama.

now, his role in My Country. phew. he's so fricking amazing. he's the actual hero of this drama, he's juggling between all sorts of issues by pursuing his own dreams, pleasing the king/country, fighting his dad while also trying to satisfy him, protecting hwi, huijae, and yeon without being obvious about his love for them. I just adore how he's so secretive about his sincere emotions, he's struggling so much on his own and the only character who gave him the love he deserved was yeon :( anyways I hope woo dohwan continues playing characters as interesting and brave as the ones he played in Save Me and in My Country. amazing character with a bright future!

I don't hate her. But tbh, she is an average actress. Gets too much praise for too little of showing. I could…
I was saying how her overall presence in whichever projects she's in (not only dramas.. movies, cfs, etc) gives off nation's first love vibe, so it's not because of her acting. nation's first love title isnt even about acting, it's more about aura and visuals.

I thought UF was her worst acting honestly, while Vagabond is her best. She was also good in WYWS but I didnt even like that drama lol

her character in Vagabond is supposed to be clumsy, as she said in one of her interviews. she's a normal agent, just like hwasuk (her NIS friend) is, but she isnt gonna be as great as Gi Taewoong obviously because she doesnt have much experience the way he does. it's realistic and normal. at least she found out the main truth of the plane crash, and is able to not only defend herself but also dalgeon. she's very warm, independent, funny, and hardworking. I love the way suzy is depicting her role in this drama :)

she got the title of nation's first love not because of her acting but mostly because of her visuals, overall vibe, and her presence in whichever projects she appears on. but they still bash her to no end because of her acting.

i think she's a good actress, not the best or excellent, but shes good. and i dont think she gets too much praise lmao do you know how much hate she gets for her acting? she even spoke about it in her interview, she literally gets dragged for her acting when it isn't even bad anymore.

i agree, there are many other actresses who deserve better aka seo yeji she's amazing. but also, there are many actresses who get too much recognition when their acting isn't good at all. so it goes both ways.

I've seen a lot of people coming after suzy's acting and I just wanna ask those people, if they truly mean what they're saying or they're just trying to find some reason to hate on her because she's suzy. her acting is fine. not exceptional ofc but it's not bad at all... or bad enough for so many people to be commenting on to the extent where they're dropping the drama because of her acting.

this is actually her best performance, compared to her other dramas. I agree, there's some lack of intensity or seriousness in some scenes of her acting, and she doesn't have much body expression but hey. her character is mostly supposed to depict a quick, capable, funny, and warm character. so all her scenes arent only intense scenes where she needs show much intense body expression, so it's fine. just gotta bare with it for a few mins of not-so-great acting and that's it. and also, it's not like all the dramas we watch all have top-notch actors/actresses. plus she's doing the comedy part REALLY well, like she suits the humor aspect. one of the best actresses when it comes to humor. she's also very fast, she doesn't take 100 years to move which I like. she's like.. always on the run lmao.

so basically, her acting is good enough for her role as haeri. you'll see what I mean as you watch more than just one episode. she's one of the BEST female leads out there. not bitchy at all, very sweet, funny, totally productive, and not a damsel in distress. she doesn't need to be defended by someone else, because she does most of the defending for not only herself but for the other leads, whether it be male or female. she's truly amazing, and this is coming from someone who wasn't even a fan of Suzy until this drama aired.

ohhh you're right. tbh I forgot the drama since it's been years but I mostly remember her abusing her strength by hurting people more than she should. I understand it was to fill up the humor element of the drama though. but yeah I agree with you!

dang I didnt think you'd answer so coldly? I lost my original account last year so I created a new one just so I can enjoy articles and read enjoyable comments (like yours, but it seems like you're being overly rude for no reason.. and no, I've been here for about a year and I comment on other articles. now do I have to link you the articles that I commented on for you to see and believe me? ) I was too lazy to to add all the 300 dramas I watched previously so I'm just enjoying my time here.. but it's alright, if you're not interested, then that's fine. I just wanted to kindly engage with your comment because I was genuinely curious.

hey! you got me curious about who are your favorite kdrama female leads? tbh I like ha jiwon but I never got to actually like her character, she was strong to me, but I couldn't really like the character as a person. so I wanna which female leads you liked, if you dont mind!

hmm.. Bongsoon was only physically strong but I dont know if she was mentally smart... and her physical strength was something she didn't even gain with her own effort. plus, she used it excessively, causing pain on others so I don't really see it as a strong female lead. it's more of an unnecessary female lead who doesn't know what she's doing.

as someone who doesn't like sci fi dramas, I surprisingly fell in love with this drama. I never understood why people thought it was a messy drama. The FL was quite annoying at first, but she was such a supportive and dedicated bodyguard towards the end. I loved how caring she was to Namshin3.

I guess my only regret was that I wish the drama gave human shin more closure, he was my fav character tbh but the drama didn't show much of his good sides only towards the end. but overall, it was a very emotional, and cute drama. I loved it. Seo Kang Joon is a great and beautiful actor, too.

I love strong female characters who don't have to act like rude b*tches to prove their strength. they don't have to be dramatic fighters, neither do they have to be super cold, they're just realistically strong but also sweet kind females who believe in empowering themselves.

A best example of this would be Jieun, from My Mister. she may seem disrespectful and rude, but she just didn't know how to socialize like others did, she was always living under fear and stress, all alone. however, she had a soft spot to her as well. she tried her best to be like others, without losing herself. as the drama progresses, she was able to live as herself, but as a more confident and peaceful version of herself. I love her. she was never useless, or stepped down. she was always on the run. a true female heroine.

right it annoys me so much ugh it's mostly the fault of the writers' lack of creating consistent characters!

yep after seeing the latest episodes, "trigger" is the right word. I agree with you!

I guess it's not that we're picky with female characters or women in general, but it's that we're frustrated how writers don't give females the justice they deserve. they spend time creating a good realistic male character while ignoring the importance of women's role in everyday lifestyles. it's like women don't have any purpose in life but to support a man?? they have issues of their own to deal with, too. they can be strong and kind at the same time too.

hahaha true. honestly, I fall into this category because I really want writers to create strong female lead, with understandable flaws, just like how they create great male leads. I don't mind it when female leads do mistakes, because humans all makes them. but if it's not consistent with the female lead, I blame the writer for it. they always make a character strong for the first few eps but then make them do something reaaalllly stupid. or they'd create a strong but rude character... the overly done ones. or they'd just have create a useless stupid one. I just wish writers would treat females the same way they look at males. we're capable of being smart, strong, sweet, and independent, just the way male leads are.
