I feel the same way as you. I follow Avenue X on Youtube and she said that it is really hard to find great scriptwriters in China. It may get worst before it gets better. Also, many idol actors/actresses are put in roles due to the fandom. They are used to get sponsors per episode for the dramas. So it is basically about the marketing money.
Hope that he has a bigger role and not just a model. He was a model in real life before his Untamed role. Now he is on tour with The Untamed Boys Band.
