I do agree with the last point but historical cdramas are also full of power-hungry moms who use their child's future as justification for their own despicable choices. I do believe they love their child in some form but not as much as they claim to. I appreciate a parent like Consort Yue who truly prioritized her child's safety & asked him to lay low even if it meant her own continued suffering. I'm glad CF didn't do that but too many parents use their kids as tools for their own ambition while sugar-coating it.

I don't see a need to both sides this. She was greedy, self-important, & arrogant then raised her son to be the same. She tortured a woman for how long out of jealousy? Her son didn't seem that bright so I feel like she could definitely have guided him to be different. She pushed him to try to kill the Heavenly Prince who wasn't trying to hurt them at all. That's just what I call FAFO. I don't hate her because that's the type of culture the Void Emperor bred...but it's also not like both sides were equally justified. 1 side was trying to stay alive & the other side to murder.
