After reading the comment section I feel like smacking the editing team.. the plot is so good and don't even get me started on the chemistry b/w Main leads, it's really unique compared to the other xianxia dramas.. but all of this went down the drain coz of editing team and the stupid directorial decision to drag the mortal arc just to give second female lead more filler times (which doesn't exist in the novel) since she was the one who bought the copyright.. I really suggest to skip the mortal arc and watch it from Epi 23/24, that's where the cannon plot begins and u won't be disappointed..

The ML looked sleepy throughout the drama, he just didn't fit the "cool" type compared to many other Chinese drama of similar genre where they had Male leads who fit the roles perfectly.. ML acting is amature. MC lacked natural chemistry..

The best modren drama I've seen so far (period).. this drama is so freaking good that I have no words to describe it.. I wish they would have kept the length to 46 instead of cutting it down to 40, they should have showed more family interactions (after the finale marriage ) instead of dragging the side plots too much

Unpopular opinion : the younger version's of MC had such a magical chemistry that it overshadowed the older version. I genuinely loved every bit of teen HYC & ZMS interactions, u can litreally feel that unique love between them but unfortunately I felt disconnect with the older version, wallace tried his best but Tiffany looked awfully uncomfortable through out the series.

Exactly, for him gender didn't matter as long as they looked even little bit like Shi Mei, so the emphasis goes to the Shi Mei not to those cannon fodders and shi mei is a dude.. infact the fist person MR fell for was CW who too is a dude.. the cycle of misunderstandings abt CW, made MR transfer that love towards SM, similarly the cycle of blind fondness towards SM made MR screw anyone regardless of gender if they looked little bit like SM... So even if we go by "Bi- Sexual" MR's physical attraction heavily leans towards males more than females .. yes let's agree to disagree on this one :)

U explained it very well.. my main wish for Shi Mei to be kept as male was because it would add more depth wen Moran realises his true feelings for CW and it would also highlight how awkward CW is with opp sex.. I personally think Moran was openly gay, the only reason he had intimate relationship with any females (or other males) was purely coz they looked little bit like Shi mei, so technically he was always either attracted to Shi Mei or someone who looked like Shi mei while being completely blind towards his own intense love for CW :)

That's why I said Chinese drama instead of specifying one.. Shi Mei has a important role to play when it comes to moran's affection which builds major foundation for the main CP since this was factor that makes Moran openly gay while shizun was still in closet.. it also changes the entire dynamic of the group since apart from Moran rest of group had no close bonds with female in general.. shizun never had any female contact (platonic) even xu meng, so wen u make Shi mei who is integral part of the group a female it obviously changes the whole dynamic.. it also changes all those subtle movements of jealousy and insecurity. I love the novel & also the main cast ( shizun and Moran) I don't know the actress who is playing Shi Mei so I never meant it as an attack on her.. it was a genuiene opinion.

I really hate it wen Chinese drama changes the gender of a character coz of their strict censor rules.. making Shi Mei litreally a girl changes the dynamic of the shizun and his disciple group .. but they got the perfect actors for the main role which makes up for it, period.

Every Chinese woman is the same? Then wat abt ur country serials?? Looks like u r more butthurt and have a grudge against Chinese dramas which is ur personal problem, stop making a fool out of urself in social platforms!

I genuienly hate such theme where cheating is potrayed as the begging of "true love" or "eternal destiny"

ML litreally cheated on his GF with the FL but they won't get any hate coz they are the protagonist and to make them look right the writer will always turn the GF into some kind of psycho!!

True, but for three lives universe it has different setup.. only certain realms has this kind of time skip but not for earth

I'd liked give some novel input to avoid confusion for the drama only watchers..


1) 90% of plot in TMOPB is made up, the only canon part in the drama is the story of BQ and YH

2) time line of three lives universe and realms is messed up by the drama TMOPB, the concept of 1 year in Earth is just 1 day in heaven realm is completely made-up theme of production team, it doesn't exist in the novel ..

3) Stories of side characters like Mo yuan disciples, DH & FJ are created by the TMOPB production team.. where MO yuan disciples background, love interest etc etc is non existent in the book, DH and FJ love story is roughly taken from the pillow book novel with the addition of 90% filler arcs written by the production team..

4) Mortal arc of DH and FJ is unfortunately divided in both "peach blossom " and "pillow book", infact mortal arc is the only place where DH and FJ characters make their debut in the peach blossom novel since its the only point where romantic storyline of BQ & YH timeline meets with FJ and DH timeline... DH and FJ are not present in rest of the peach blossom novel, they are only mentioned in name, Hence the timeline completely got sc*ewed up when TMOPB decided to used those few canon bits of DH and FJ mortal arc and mix it up with their 90% fillers ones which effected the mortal arc of ELOD in result..

5) DH never erased his name from fate of destiny stone, he was just not interested in any of the materialistic feelings and preferred the celibate lifestyle until he saw FJ,

FJ and DH were ill-fated couple who are not suppose to meet each other at all, but because of FJ unconditional love her actions end up earning a thin fate with DH that's when their story finally begins ( which is their fist encounter in there original form during the marriage ceremony of BQ and YH)

6) I highly recommend reading the novels of TQ which will help in clearing lot of confusions created by the fillers incorporated in the Season 1 "TMOPB"

Wayne character in TMOPB is a filler, the novel doesn't give any details for the mo yuan disciples apart from their identity, so the love story between 16th disciple and demon princess doesn't exist in the three life universe, where as "YAN CHI WU" is a canon character of the novel, it's just that production casted same actor to play the demon lord role coz in the book it says YCW is prettier than girls so production thought Wayne fill fit this role better... 80% of the plot in TMOPB is made up (apart from BQ and YH romantic plot) when as in ELOD 90% of the plot is canon based on the original novel..

Donghua in TMOPB is not real, his personality is completely changed (apart from important traits) since the TMOPB production didn't have copyright for the pillow book novel..

Donghua is more closed off than YH coz DH is the ancient good there are lot of secrets only DH is aware of which even the current heaven Emperor doesn't have the knowledge.. only those ppl who were real close to DH knew abt miao realm and it's demon form ( Miao luo).. to put simply ELOD Donghua is the real one, TMOPB version was just a filler made by the production team..

The whole concept of 1year In mortal world is just 1 day in immortal one is a filler made up by the TMOPB production , this doesn't happen in the novel.. according to the Canon plot there is no difference in the timeline, if u spend one day in mortal world then I means 1 day in immortal world as well.. .
So FJ and Gungun stayed for 200 years in mortal world and DH waited for FJ for 200 years in immortal world (heaven palace)

The reason DH didn't tell FJ about demon or the miao realm was because FJ premodial Spirit was deeply damaged when she gave up all her cultivation to fight the pythons for the pimpon fruit, DH managed to heal her spirit by using his blood in Aranya dream but still her condition was delicate and she needed more time to completely heal without worrying abt anything. In the book DH makes an fate enquiry after finding out the truth abt Aranya and SY, fate reveals that FJ and DH didn't have destiny in the beginning but because of their shadows failed destiny the real ones got fated destiny but acc to heaven rules when u make fate enquiry, which is considered as forbidden magic everything that was suppose to happen will be rewritten as it's price so all the development DH and FJ finally got can easily turn into dust within few secs, so to avoid such calamity DH alters FJ memory of aranya Dream to remember the only important parts (just her time spent with DH ) to keep FJ safely by his side till the calamity is passed, but unfortunately FJ ends up getting her memory back after the abandoned wedding ceremony and she becomes scared that everything she shared with DH /XZ in aranya dream could just be a made up memory by DH that's why she leaves to mortal realm, there is still more to this which explained in depth in the novel .. Drama couldn't cover certain parts because of the messed up timeline that happened during TMOPB and complicated concepts in Pillow book novels so production tried to simplify it as much as possible but it ended up confusing the fans

I have no idea how this drama got such good reviews, Plot wise the beginning episodes are so silly and confusing. I also preferred young ZMS than the adult one, the young version of FL had personality where's as the adult FL is like a dumb sheep. Acc to the plot they break up because of HYCs harsh words and FL goes to the states for her studies but wen she comes back to China it's the male lead who gets to act like he was one who got wronged and not they other way around, FL still decides to tag along with him without even addressing the main issue which resulted in their break up.. First few episodes are really frustrating to watch since it keeps beating around the bush instead of addressing the real problems..


P.S: just read the novel and all of my former confusion got answered beautifully from Gu man's narration.. drama really failed to adapt in their narration abt YCH and ZMS post break-up journey

DH didn't decive FJ coz it was the only reason to be with her. He altered her memory by replacing xize with DH which is not at all far from the real truth. He did that to buy time for her RECOVERY and to save the THIN THREAD OF FATE..

He choose FJ safety over Honesty, he explains this in the book .. they have lot of misunderstanding b/w them and if FJ decides she needs little time and goes back to QQ without him, the chances for fate to make his move increases highly, he also can't reveal her the truth behind giving Sasha fruit to Jh because then he must also reveal why curing her poison became his responsibility to keep his promise (Secret of JH being illegitimate daughter)

And for immortals age 1-40000yrs is very vulnerable coz their spirits can easily be damaged and during the heaven trail it can vanish into nothingness , So BQ was always extra careful when she was given the responsibility of rising young FJ, now FJ premodial Spirit is damaged and she lost all of her cultivation .. this is the not time to give speech of honesty in relationship, DH wants FJ to recover first (drinking his blood) before he can explain aranya dream to her.. and Abt JH he already told many times that she means nothing to him.. he just made a mistake of fast forwarding his time with FJ.. and DH and FJ were mutually in love but how is this same as JH chasing after a married man and blackmailing him with suicide and shamelessly using the promise that was meant for her father? Like seriously wat kind of screwed up logic is that?

DH doesn't owe anything to JH, she litreally has no right to even stand in front of him without his permission .. whereas DH and FJ are couple , from the start DH always treated FJ as someone who is special to him..

DH was never absolved from deception coz there is no deception, technically whatever part he inserted in FJ memory were all true, In aranya dream XZ and DH are one and the same person, Did u forget how messed up FJ memory was when she entered aranya dream? even though she remembered her events with DH she had forgotten his physical appearance hence she couldn't recognize XZ was DH.. FJ premodial Spirit was so week that DH concern was to heal her not to give her more stress.. who knows wat would have happened when FJ comes out of aranya dream with just 3000yrs of cultivation gained from DH blood? DH made a mistake.. he didnt lie or deceive to destroy someone elses happiness, there is a huge difference !!

JH destroyed the honor and trust of her father and used something that was given to her as a token of memory to do disgusting act.. her poison was almost cured she just had to stay in the valley for few more years but she enters mountain to get poisoned all over again and even confesses to YCW that she wants to die on their wedding night so DH would never forget her, her intention was to emotionally traumatise the couples and taint their wedding day for ever but YC being the dumb he is didn't understand her intentions.
Even animals like dogs are more greateful towards their saviour .. DH a stranger helped her on her most difficult moments for the sake to keep his promise , but she bit the very hand of the benefactor who had helped her when she needed it the most. Her extreme poison caused great damage to DH which effected in purifying the miao chasm and protecting FJ..

and now talking abt DH, he made honest mistakes.. after the fate enquiry their fate was hanging on a thin thread, fate warned him that one little mishap can end their destiny for good. FJ primodial spirit was greatly damaged and she barely recovered from it by drinking DH blood throughout Aranyas dream, so to protect her he thought let her be alive and well first and then they can clarify anything. Remember DH and FJ were always fighting external force (Fate) which was beyond their control whatever choice they would make they will be doomed forever.. FJ would need several more years to recover her cultivation , without DH she is not in the condition to even face the heaven trail which will happen within 10000years.. Out of real desperation to save her he made some mistakes yet DJ is whitewashed to u

But JH for her selfish desire and obsession over donghua used self destruction as a blackmail so she could separate DH and FJ forever yet it looks like a desparate act from a pitiful girl?
