If you like real good Dramas, Thailand has produced very good things ultimately. Unfortunately, people don't know…
Super late reply but I was perusing comments and saw that In Family We Trust was recommended but at the time didn't have subs. Just wanted to say it's on Netflix now with subs in case you were interested in that one and hadn't seen it. :)
Yeah, thanks to the chinese government for that :( You can watch all the uncut scenes on bilibili.
I saw this in a Youtube comment and it may be helpful. If you go to https://www.bilibili.com/ and type "刺客列传 [episode number] cut" (without quotation marks) you'll be able to find the cut scenes. I did that and there are a bunch of results that come up. Unfortunately they don't have English subtitles, and they don't seem to be the full episodes, but maybe it'll be a starting place to peruse when you have time?
I'm currently watching this too and am getting a little frustrated with the cut scenes, even though I know it isn't the writer or director's fault. It seems even the simplest things are being cut. I'm on episode 8 and the Youtube commenter said the scene that got cut was one where the King asked Ah Li what he wanted and Ah Li said, "What if I replied the moon?" And then the King said he would have someone build a platform to get it for him. The moon apparently represents yearning in Chinese culture, so the government couldn't have that in there! lol sorry for the long response/rant. Just wishing we could see the scenes as the writers meant for us too. :(
I will lie if I say I didn't shed a tear watching the trailer I bet this will be a full roller coaster of emotions…
I agree!! I feel like it's going to be one that makes me sad but also possibly happy at the same time?? Like, sad but also sweet and heartwarming. (Side note--I love Gun too! I really want him to have his own lead in a BL, especially after that PremWad letdown from SOTUS lol).
There's not much of a complete relation. It just mainly focuses on the relationship of Tharn and Tar's ex boyfriend,…
This also should have more of the backstory with what happened to Tar (at least in the book it does). I think Tum and Tar may also have a bigger role in this one than in LBC (though it may still be small compared to Tharn and Type), but it will be different actors. :)
I really want to watch it, but I'm afraid it'd be too gore for me, and I don't like zombies to begin with. But…
(Late reply so you may have already made your decision lol) I'd agree with the other user. It isn't too gory or explicit at all. I don't really watch the horror drama, but I feel like this is probably pretty tame to what's out there haha. And I'm not really a zombie person either, but I thought their role and portrayal was very clever in this drama, and they really did add to the excitement and intensity of the story! I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you have the time. :)
Thai BL encourage this underage romanticizing pedophile tendencies.
I understand the point you're trying to make. But I've yet to see it substantiated by any legitimate evidence. You made an inflammatory blanket statement about a particular genre based on one minor scene from a single show that really isn't even representative of the entire genre, nor did it contain an underage character or actor. If a majority of Thai BLs revolved around relationships between adults and minors, I would agree with you. But they don't (not even close; again--couples are almost always the same age), so that's where I'm coming from in my arguments. All I'm trying to point out is that looking at Thai BLs as whole, one can see that they don't in fact encourage the tendencies you're speaking of, which is why I objected to your very broad characterization and argued it was misleading. I merely wanted to have an educated discussion on the matter and respond to the points you were making, but I see it's being misconstrued, resorting to personal attacks, and not really leading anywhere, so I'll take my leave as well. We'll just agree to disagree and leave it at that. :)

You're right, there was a big age gap in Together With Me. But, as another person said, both characters were of legal age, adults. Was that scene problematic? Absolutely. But pedophilia? Definitely not. I would also disagree with your statement that "romanticizing relations between baby faces is dangerous" and akin to romanticizing peodophilia (which actually concerns sexual attraction to prepubescent children by the way and not teenagers or young adults who look young). As I mentioned, nearly all of the romances in Thai BLs are between characters (and actors) of the same age, and most are very vanilla, especially compared to Western shows where intimate scenes between teenage characters--straight and gay--are portrayed rather explicitly. Should we not have shows about teenagers or young adults falling in love? Because that's what most Thai BLs are about, as are romantic teen dramas from any country. And I think it's a bit of an extreme stretch to compare these dramas to child exploitation and human trafficking, the latter of which is definitely not part of the LGBT community. I'm sorry to push it, and I don't mean to be rude, but I'm just failing to see the connections you're trying to make, especially when it seems to be based on a single, minor scene that wasn't even pedophilia in the first place. And again, I can't think of any Thai BL that could conceivably be said to promote pedophilia or abusive adult-minor relationships. It just felt like an entire country and genre was unfairly and inaccurately called out.

Oh no worries at all! I was mostly replying to the other comment, but also wanted to counter the above-made point as it just didn't sit right with me and felt inaccurate and unfair. Was not trying to come for anybody at all lol ^_^ (I also wasn't sure how to @ both of you which is why I wrote two replies lol)
Thai BL encourage this underage romanticizing pedophile tendencies.
I can assure you that Thai BL does not romanticize peodophilia. -_- Most of the dramas are actually quite tame and vanilla, and couples are generally the same age (and if not then the younger one is of majority age).

As someone who’s seen several Thai BLs, I would have to respectfully disagree with this assessment, and feel it’s a bit misleading and slightly offensive. Now I’ll admit there are sometimes problematic themes, which is unfortunately common in the Asian BL genre generally, but I’m genuinely perplexed by your blanket statement regarding Thai BL. Aside from two exceptions, which I'll list, I cannot recall a single series where there was an adult paired with someone under age (the exceptions are two minor, minor couples from two different shows where one person was in undergrad and the other in high school, with an age difference of probably 2-3 years at most). Most of the dramas revolve around couples in high school or college. The romance in the high school setting is largely tame (one drama comes to mind that was a little more risqué, but by no means was it explicit). Even most of the ones in a University setting are very vanilla. I don’t find them that different from M/F romances in the same settings. I’m curious to know what dramas you’ve seen that give you this impression.
Lmao, seriously though. The bromance was literally the best part of Guardian. I'd even compare it to Jingyan and…
It really was!!! Such a beautiful relationship and fantastic actors. Now, I only watched 2 episodes of MG lol but I cannot believe that F4 would even come close to Shen Wei and Yunlan (of course, we can all tell these polls were biased, but still). I'll have to check out Nirvana in the Fire! :)
I don’t mind the darker themes so much and think they can make for an interesting storyline, but I swear if…
Ahh okay, I'll have to go check that out! That makes sense, then; that would seem misleading if the show turns out much darker. If I had seen the trailer without knowing the name of the drama, I wouldn't even think it was The Effect based on what I've read about it elsewhere. I can see a lot of people getting mad going in with one expectation and not being prepared for something way different.
