I don't even think it was flirty whispers in the side of Yijin just "their special moment", maybe it is the viewers who are getting malicious thoughts over something that can be interpreted as an intimate yet still pure moment between the two. Again, intimacy can be achieved by many things like how they enjoyed that moment together in the beach while appreciating the sea sounds, whispering to each other and just talking about simple things.

Guys if you suddenly have a problem with the age gap now that Yi Jin confessed to being in love with her but not…
I swear nothing inappropriate behavior is happening, just two youths (yes, Yijin who is forced to fend for himself alone while navigating the adult world alone) with a very special bond, sharing comfort, admiring each other in the best way possible and pursuing happiness together. Even their affectionate stares are just soo sweet and pure in my opinion. I particularly love the scene in episode 10 where Hee Do was standing and starting at Yijin while he was listening on the sea sounds. That moment is pure and just beautiful!

i think so too. maybe this is the "they hurt each when they are 19 and 23 years old"
There's an updated description on tvN's website so they will be wounded at the age of 20 and 24.

I swear I did not think any of their actions was an intentional flirting, it's time that people view intimacy as something that can also be achieved through deep conversations, affectionate stares and just being there for each other when they were at their lowest. Them admiring each other and showing signs of affection are not wrong in my own opinion unless one pursue inappropriate behaviors without the consent of another and through the use of deception...

It’s not the age gap, it’s that she’s still in highschool. HD mindset it literally like a kid. She doesn’t…
It's obvious that what they have is not "merely" platonic but doesn't fit into the common manifestation of romance either. It's also obvious that both have special feelings for one another. The slow-mos are their own perspectives every time they are feeling a different affection to one another and I don't think its bad to feel that way especially because they do not take inappropriate actions to it.

While I'm a fan of Yijin and Heedo's interactions and I'm one of those people who strong believe that what they have is not strictly platonic but not full-blown romance either, I do not see that there was a single moment where they became flirtatious. Maybe, I'm being so generous, but I view everything they do while still intimate, is still pure and innocent.

Onto the other controversial scenes:
- The ice cream scene was part of Yijin's prank to Hee Do, he's smiling because once Hee Do saw that part he assumed that they were gonna have that carefree happy moment.
- The slow-mo, stares and their intense gazes to each other when Hee Do was asking Yijin of what he thinks of their relationship while rather intense is a pivotal scene so they can confront and acknowledged their emotions to each other. It was bound to happen regardless of their ages.

With that, for me, what matters is the next steps they will take once they became both romantically in love (which as of the moment is only lingering on that concept but not fully developed into that) as Heedo is still considered as minor in their korea despite her age being 19 and 18 (internationally). Will Yijin intimidate Heedo into the relationship and go beyond the boundaries and invade her personal spaces and trick her into getting her innocence while he knows that it's inappropriate given Heedo's age and current maturity level? (Though I believe, given the era and Korea's conservative culture at that time and even though Yijin had girlfriends in highschool which is surely short-lived, I don't believe he has even experienced on that. *Also, eastern countries are not that sexually-liberated as western countries, so if that's what you guys are worried about, IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN based on Yijin's personality.)

Anyway, if that really happens though it's very impossible, I do believe that's the moment where we should be worried. Yijin after confessing his love for Hee Do was just glad that she knows he loves her, I think that's already a green flag and people should really stop worrying about that age gap or Heedo still being in highschool when in fact, she's a senior and is about to graduate soon! YES HEEDO DOESN'T KNOW MANY THINGS YET LIKE THE LETTUCE SCENE, but I do think people keep forgetting here that Heedo wasn't raised in an environment where she works in their house, all she knows is fencing. She's an athlete, she already has a career on that and also, she's mature as a fencing player.

What kind of love Yijin and Heedo have for one another, it just can't be defined, it's just love. No pressure. No grand gestures needed. No need to date. Just pure comfort, respect and admiration for each other's vigor and strength. They will continue what kind of relationship they have now. It's rainbow. It's love. And I believe this is what they will do until the right time comes for the both of them.

I think their school trip at the beach is an ode to our youth days and also a gift to everyone of them. Also, I hope my dear Baek Yi Jin will be able to fully enjoy that moment. He deserves it so much after everything that he’s going through. Actually, everyone deserved it. You all worked hard and you guys never give up no matter how hard life has been. Rest well then have the courage to start again! To everyone who feels like Ji Woong, I’m rooting for you! Also to everyone Seungwan out there or someone who relates to her (and also to me who relates to this smart beauty) who has been diligently working hard and yet, feels like there’s still something missing.

Let’s do not be hard on ourselves, rest well, be calm then have the courage to start again!

Though there are some of us who have been hoping big leaps to the Hee Do and Yijin’s relationship, I still do find Yijin’s love for Hee Do pure, innocent and just comforting. It ain’t entirely goes into the conventional romance and burning passion, but it goes even more special especially to them who are receiving that kind of love. He expects nothing in return, he just wants her to learn that he is loving her and he loves her for what she is and for what she does. He doesn’t expect anything from her, he just wants her to be happy knowing that she knows he’s loving her. I think more than romantic gestures, what they need are just those simple moments of happiness and comfort both of them can provide to each other. ♡ No grand gestures, no need to date, no need to rush things, just that moment where you guys are just happy and you care for each other’s well being. That’s a very special relationship there you guys and do you know what is called? Rainbow? No. It’s love.

Also, let’s us all appreciate this episode for its simplicity and providing us beautiful moments of youth. ♡

Also, I don't think the age gap is even an issue now. They already acknowledged it's love. And while they will still need to grow, I believe they have reached a mutual understanding on what will happen to their relationship.

Also, it doesn't really need to be physically/sexually intimate as of the moment as again seen in common manifestations of romance. I would love it be pure but still intimate as of now, but whatever choices they make, again, they have a mutual understanding of their relationship.

Also, I know Hee Do is sometimes impulsive and can sometimes act immature, but I do believe her feelings are sincere as well as Baek Yi Jin and with that sincerity they have, I don't think what we need to do as viewers is to trust them both.

The most important thing for me now is that both Yi Jin and Hee Do knows how much love they have for each other; it is deep, respectful and mutual. I refuse to believe that they will find such love with other people. Yi-jin will never find another beautiful person who will comfort him the best when he's down and no another beautiful person will root for Hee-do that way and most of all, Hee-do will never have a relationship as what she currently have now with Yi-jin. If they want to date next episode, let them be, if they want to see things go even deeper as they grow I will support them. If they want to just pursue what they currently have now (because for me, this has already been romantic ever since episode 2) because what they have now is clearly way way way even better to the common manifestation of romantic love, I'll also support. What matters now is their feelings for each other has been acknowledged as "love" and I think let us enjoy them the moment~

"to me, the kind of love they have has already infinitely transcended the boundaries of the typical ‘love’ that is usually presented in media. yes, they're more than the clear cut platonic friendzoned love, but they're not at level of the kind of physical romantic type love usually employed. but rather, what they have is a really complex and deep relationship that is housed by blurry lines because genuine and pure love is something that encompasses so much feeling and depth and can sometimes be really hard to explain within the limits of human language."

thank you! ♡

Love.
I love you, Na Hee Do. I don’t need a rainbow.

After the endless screaming, crying, and giggling after Yi-jin’s beautiful confession of love and respect to Hee Do, I am so much inspired to write my thoughts about their relationship.

After hearing those words, I kept asking myself, what kind of love Yi-jin is saying? Then, I realized that I underestimated Yi-jin’s feelings for Hee Do. Throughout all these episodes, Yi-jin has kept a boundary with Hee Do making sure that it will not become romantic in nature, but it was all along love for him, and no better episode can express this than episode 9.

It doesn’t need to be romantic and physical in nature, it can just be about sharing happiness, providing comfort, supporting one another’s dreams, and caring for each other. At least this is what I felt about how Yi-jin is showing his love for Hee Do, especially in today’s episode. From smiling like his usual self because of Hee Do’s, “I have to have you” confession, to being vocal, serious, and sincere that he doesn’t want their relationship to fall apart just like that, how he kept emphasizing that she should trust him, to making sure that Hee Do wouldn’t be hurt and to being this sexy and mature rookie reporter who seamlessly says “no” to his superior because he wanted to be a good reporter because of Hee Do. Yes, dear 2521 fam, he sincerely loves her. When we thought that no one can top Hee Do’s confession of, “I have to have you”, Yi-jin did by straightforwardly answering Hee Do’s question that it is love for him.

May I also emphasize how he repeatedly said that Hee Do must trust him and how he wants Hee Do to answer him if she trusts him—because at first, I really thought it was just because he was being protective as an older “guy”. But it was just not it. He wants to be trusted by Hee Do because he wants her to learn that she inspires him to be better at his job and to be a better person in general.

When Hee Do’s mother said that he should keep his distance from Hee Do because he’s a sports reporter and when I saw how much Yi-jin really cares for Hee Do, I got worried a little bit because I thought it would harm them both, especially him. However, what surprise me was how he showed maturity in the best way possible. His affection and special relationship for Hee Do doesn’t harm him but leads him and inspires him to be better just as what he said to Hee Do in the confession scene. We also see this in episode 4 where he’s very vocal on how much Hee Do gives him hope.

So, yes, I love that kind of relationship built on a very healthy ground.

When Hee Do got hurt because of the reenactment of the simultaneous touch with Yu-rim, Yi-jin’s action proved that man is mature enough and his love for Hee Do will instead lead him to pursue better judgments. Like how athletes not just Hee Do could be injured and who would be responsible if that happens? My man is really smart, brave and very mature to against his senior. I mean, how can I not fall in love with him? I really hope for the best for these two.

So, when it has been love for Yi-jin? Can we really be better judgers at that? But since I love silly theories, I’m guessing that it was on the whole time they were apart and when he had a talk with his mother about that love that inspires each other to grow. Yi-jin already knew.

I cannot be sure of what will happen in the next episodes, but I do believe it will still be like what they are doing right now—pursuing happiness together just with acknowledged feelings of affection and respect for one another.

Gosh, I am so happy.
