There’s nothing wrong bringing these kinds of things up. I actually thinks it healthy having these conversations…
Okay, I think both of us have different interpretations regarding on how the writer is weaving their relationship and this just proves that art is very subjective, but I still believe that what they have is a very very beautiful relationship that started on good friendship and has been pure ever since. And that is also has so many green flags. No taking advantage, no sexual behaviors and just them adoring, caring, and supporting one another while the other is still on the edge of her youth fighting for her dreams and the one who's youth is suddenly taken away and had no choice but to face the adult world...alone. I can't find a single argument to rebut the loving gazes because it is not a problem to me given the context on what I understand they are to one another, however, what I can only keep emphasizing here is that it was not sexual and depending on how you view art, their loving gazes can be interpreted as pure, full of comfort, and hopeful.

Also, I think the reason why we don't want a minor and adult relationship it is rooted in the adult taking advantage (e.g. sexual relationship) but here, we do not see that in any kind, so that alone, for me, is already a good sign why that four-year age gap should not be considered as a very big of an issue in this drama and I hope that more people can further look into other meaningful interactions between the two and the other characters because there's really more and they were all special.

"It’s the way the show is framed even thought nothing ever goes beyond small touches & glances. It’s still framed in a romantic context."

Because it is a youth romance drama, however, my point here is even though it is, it is not painted as suggestive or a sexual predatory behavior. Even in the confession scene, it was not, and it was even handled very maturely with how Heedo responded that her feelings are not there yet and with how Yijin respected that. In real life scenarios, that can turn out bad even if with both teenagers. There are boys/men that act like their feelings should be reciprocated and just entitled to the girls’ feelings, but Yijin did not. Moreover, his confession is even more meaningful and sincere, so to paint that, again, as a romantic confession between a minor and adult guy is just sad and pure disservice.

Goblin, don't worry, I won't call you out on Goblin because I haven't watch that, but I do understand there's really something wrong with Goblin even though I haven't fully watched it because that's literally a highschool girl and a man who looks to be about 40. That really is problematic and not to add that they even have a bed scene when the girl's age is probably not that even grown up (though probably at legal age).

Here, the story was not provocative and for me, their moments are nothing but pure because I always try to look at the intentions of the characters.

Lastly, it's not that I don't want this topic to be discussed—if we can have an insightful discussion to this, then it’s all good. But, as of now, every time I visit this site, it was like a recurring very serious issue, and it even goes to the point that other meaningful interactions of Yijin and Heedo are being set aside or looked over.

I think I just need to address something on this site because I really love the show, how they weave the stories, the emotions and the inner turmoil between characters, the friendship, the rivalry and the story of Heedo and Yijin, so behold, this will be a very long post—because, honestly, going into this site makes me a little sad and turned off as recently there's a repeated emphasis on the age gap, romantic relationship and the timeline. I personally think at this moment these kinds of conversations are not healthy anymore because for me, they were no longer insightful and were just repeated personal sentiments.

To readdress the age gap issue, again—their relationship has been nothing but supportive and respectful to one another. Even before the acknowledgement of their feelings and relationship at episode 9, they have already been like that—having their happy moment and being the comfort that each other needs.

Nothing sexual predatory behavior is being encouraged; both are still young (though Yijin is considered a young adult) but both will still need a lot of growth along the way. But what makes this story good is even though ages are not the same, they meet each other on an emotional level. Heedo may not be matured on some aspects in her life, but she has this mental vigor that Yijin admires and sometimes jealous of. Might I also add that her philosophy in life is not something that everyone can achieve no matter what their age is because it is all rooted from her heartbreaks, perseverance and spirit that made her mature emotionally and this is where Yijin’s admiration of her—I believe—is rooted from. The romantic framing? This is a budding young romance after all, but the romantic framing is not used in a way that it encourages sexual predatory behavior from a four-year age gap. Yijin respects Heedo. That's the end of the story. He respects her, he admires her, and he cares for her well-being and most of all, to her youth. The hug this episode? Why has it been inappropriate when first and foremost, before everything else that happens, they are friends? The confession? Why don’t we stop on too much criticizing this issue and look beyond the lines and the meaning of why it was said? Because it very meaningful and a beautiful scene and to see it being reduced as just romantic confession between a minor and an adult guy is already disservice to the writing, the drama itself and Yijin and Heedo’s relationship and friendship. In my sincere opinion, it was very respectful and mature; it was pure acknowledgement of Yijin’s love, affection, and adoration to Heedo—to the person who she is—and how she inspired him to be a better person in general. Heedo, for so many times, she felt like no one supports and loves her but she’s much more confident now because she has Yijin who loves her in any form. Here’s a much thoughtful explanation for the confession scene: https://twitter.com/imzeroclock/status/1503870402552119300

I doubt some of us already found this special relationship that they have and to taint that into something weird or sexual predatory because apparently—Hee do is still at 19 and Yijin at 23 is really saddening. The drama respects this issue while still being able to show the growth of Heedo and Yijin. I know you guys love the drama that’s why you guys are watching this, but can you trust me on this one that it’s not in any way encouraging sexual predatory behaviors and advantaging minors? You don't want to view it as romantic, it's fine. I don't even view it in a pure romantic lens because for me, it is something that goes far beyond that and even more precious and beautiful in itself and the fact that word "romance" has been tainted by many dramas and movies as something sexual in nature, even I won't want to cage what they have into only that kind of love.

As this issue is being put into a bad light every time, I am also afraid that some of us are not able to appreciate how the drama is weaving their beautiful relationship just like what it has always been since episode 2.

Second issue, the rush into a romantic relationship. I love Baekdo like you too, but more than romance, this drama is portraying a much special relationship and that’s always how they are each other’s comfort, home and soulmate. Moreover, aside from the romance, this drama has always been about youth, friendship, and family as well, even Yijin who’s being “painted” by some as an adult is still a very young man who longs for his youth, currently navigating his life, finding new dreams and has this consistent longing for his family. I hope we can all enjoy the innocence of youth and the lovely relationship Yijin and Heedo has so far because there’s consistent development to them and that's why it's more special than other romantic couples out there. ❤️ Let’s also to cheer to the youths of Tae-yang high as they are working so hard and burned-out as they prepare for college.

Lastly, for the timeline, I think let’s settled with what Yijin said tonight, “Life is long, and fireworks are short.” Meaning to say, let’s stop worrying about the timeline, it will come but for whatever it is, let’s enjoy the stories and emotions they gave us as the story keeps on moving forward to the end.

Episode 11 is such a beautiful episode because it isn't only able to provide pure Baekdo moments but sensibly showed Heedo and her mom’s relationship, addressed the present timeline and shared Yurim's behavior towards Heedo at first and how she's still scared of her. So many good things happened in this episode but I’m not going to list it all down, because it's better if you discover those yourself, just wanted everyone to appreciate the episode more instead of those issues above because once you do, you’ll understand how the writing has been sensible and just great to weave all those emotions and stories in a single episode.

At the start of this episode, 41 year-old Heedo is talking with Min Chae regarding the chairs of her mother created by her dad that she's fixing then the voice changed and it became 19 year-old Heedo talking with Baek Yi Jin. That transition alone already proves that they will be together in the end. They are married and Min Chae is their child. For the surname issue, adoption theory has already been going and intensified by episode 10, check that.

Also, some folks from twitter noticed that Heedo's picture are also saved in her album when it was Yijin who only got a copy of that...so that's it.

Behind a woman’s success are her heartbreaks—just pure tears, tonight.

Episode 11 highlighted the story of Hee do and her mother. I am also more convinced that the present timeline have got something to with them. I don't think it is put there just to become something insignificant, today's episode proved that, something needs to be shown and need to be fixed. Anyway, this is such a beautiful episode, just fixing all the inner turmoil of one another especially with Hee do's family and Yu Rim and Hee Do's past. I loved it. It also put more moments for Yi jin and Hee do, their dynamics, their beautiful friendship and their even blosomming relationship. It was also nice seeing Yijin act like a kid on the stationary store. Plus, those pure moments of Jiwoong and Yu Rim, this is another well done episode.

For my thoughts regarding the happily ever after story of Baek Yi Jin and Hee Do, I'll write it on the spoiler.

Also, we can all just enjoy the episode and not always worry about the timeline? Just like what Yijin said to Heedo, "Life is long and fireworks are short." ;)

I'm going to put this on the spoiler, but I do think at least there are still things to be addressed in the present aside from nostalgia and story of youth concept and minchae's dream, so maybe these are "too much" theories or very sad ones, anyway here they are:
- heedo's mom have dementia <--- could be a redemption arc for her as the story might actually try to tackle her motherhood story in last few episodes
- yijin has childhood issue need to be addressed like he is adopted (as hinted in episode 10)
- the emphasis on yu rim x hee do friendship/rival might lead yu rim to die at an early age
