Is there going to be season 2?? oh goshh I miss this drama so much.
I remember watching the finale and crying so ugly to the point of having a headache, so I don't think I can handle the season 2 hahaha. But the drama has ended beautifully, so season 2 is out of the question.

Lol at the last part haha. I put flower of evil as a suspenseful poetic melodrama and more of as a tale rather a realistic one. I think this is also the writer is trying to convey and they succeeded in that narrative so I gave this a 10/10.
I haven't watch many of Lee Joon Gi's drama aside from Arang and Scarlet Heart, but he's extremely good at this one. I've been thinking of watching Iljimae and The King and The Clown soon. :)
I reviewed this drama and gave an overall 10/10, but 8.5 for the music. However, after digging the instrumentals on Spotify, I am getting an LSS so I feel like changing it now to 9 or even higher. Lol.

I remember waiting for episode 5 so bad, after spoiling myself a bit, I managed to watch it early in the morning without subtitles, thankfully, I was able to understood it a little bit. Haha. I'm going to binge-rewatch this soon after my project has finished.

I see you love this drama as well, alongside Flower of Evil~! I can't believe people who compared this to My Father is Strange, this is a melodrama more than a romcom. If I can only remove the top 2nd review, I will. This is best appreciated for people looking for serious, deep and meaningful dramas that are enjoyable and heartwarming at the same time.
Flower of Evil is a melodrama in the guise of suspense/thriller, so...you cannot expect much of a comedy here, but, there are some fun events that you'll likely enjoy!
Wow, I loved your review T-T Almost the same as what I felt about the drama. The theme of depression sold this drama for me. I enjoyed the female and male lead romance, but I was most rooting for Seo Tae Soo not to die instead of them ending up together, I was very much invested on his story.

Moon Chae Won proved that she can do a rom-com! I am not fan of her character but her portrayal was shockingly great! However, I did not like the story and how her character was being objectified by men, so...yes, that's my big reason for giving a low rating. Also, I got bored watching it in the middle that I only thought of finishing it years after.

I'm not invalidating your opinion, but this drama did not even declared itself as a full-blown thriller in the first place. It was a melodrama suspense, with melodrama taking the higher percentage, therefore, it was centered on character development and relationships. The suspense part was only created so the story will move through. I will agree with you if you insist that it was not a hardcore makjang and neither a hardcore thriller, but those things are not what most people who watched this drama loved for.
Audience like me who is pretty much invested on emotions and on themes of healing, mature relationships, and morals is giving this a high rating because the drama delivered on those aspects. The drama is able to give me the subtle emotional feeling I am looking for. So, it is insulting to say or even suggest that people rated this highly because they are fans of the lead actor. I know popular dramas where lead actors have large fanbases that are struggling to retain the 8 score here in mydramalist. Also, the things that you mentioned about directing, story, plot, characters and acting are mostly what others are praising it about and yes, that includes me.
For me, it's a 7? I haven't really watch many korean thrillers, but I've watch some western. As what I've written on my review, the thriller is only a facade of this drama, it is melo centered, and that's the reason many liked it, including me. It has a humane story, so if you are for full-blown thriller, crime or any procedural dramas, this might not be the one for you. But, who knows, maybe you'll still like it because it's well-written, well-directed, well-acted and well-paced.
Highly recommend for those who like a suspense thriller drama that not much "Dark". The story and plot twists…
Also for viewers who enjoy deep and meaningful dramas. It's also highly centered on character growth and relationships, so for people ready to watch combination of suspense and melodrama, go ahead and enjoy the ride!
