I know not many will like the whole amnesia plot that is super duper clichéd in dramas. But here i actually get…
I agree with you on your amnesia explanation. I hate amnesia tropes but it fit Hyun Soo's case and to be honest it really happens in real life. Lol.

The amnesia paved for him to own his sincere self and not lived in the shadow of being Baek Hee Seung.

But, I have a different opinion on Hae Soo and Moo Jin's ending, I think it was beautiful, a little bit vague but not too much, complicated yet simple.

on a scale of 1 to 10 what would u give this drama for romance?
100/10. Hahhahaha. What can I say? I love their relationship. It was a combination of heartache, longing, sadness and grace. The love they have to one another saved them through difficult times together.

Also, if you are looking for skinship and kisses, yes they have a lot. It was not explicit but the emotions are felt.

I have mixed feelings for this drama I mean honestly it could've been a lot better but it's still good I guess…
I think the romance of the main leads were the best and so humane. It was even better than The Notebook, whom I considered my top romance film. But of course, we are to have our own opinions. :)

Btw, agree that Moo Jin did extremely well. It was hard to be funny in a drama that's serious.

Totally agree! I kept expecting SOMETHING about Jung Mi Sook and her husband, and for such long episodes, there…
I agree that you did not like the ending that much, however, here are some points that might help you understand it better.

Jung Mi Sook and her husband reunion will make me happier, but I do think it will not fit with the kind of narrative they try to do with Hyun Soo. In addition, four months had already passed, it was said in episode 6 that Mi Sook's husband had a terminal illness and will die soon, never forget that he was in prison for crimes he committed. In a forum I read, since Jung Mi Sook and her husband's relationship mirrors Ji Won and Hyun Soo's relationship, therefore they were unable to get their happy ending unlike the two who've still got time.

For Moo Jin and Hae Soo not being together, I think it was good. It would have been too unrealistic for them to just become a couple after what happened. Hae Soo was lost for a very long time therefore she would want to find herself once again and relationship is the last thing that's in her mind. Of course, she likes Moo Jin, she even doesn't want him to see her in prison clothes and she likes the small talks between them. In my opinion, her ending up with Moo Jin after going out of prison will feel out of the place and somehow very dramatic all of a sudden. Still the drama did not end with them not being a couple, it was hinted that they are more than friends and they are still talking to one another. Just imagine that after 1 to 2 years, Hae Soo comes back and they get married.

For Hyun Soo's amnesia, to be honest, I wasn't a fan of amnesia, but for Hyun Soo, his *short term* amnesia fits him so much. Because of his amnesia, he'll be able to construct a different and most sincerest version of himself that he can proudly say that, it is who he really is. He can own his life and not live in the shadow of 'fake' Baek Hee Seung. His new found emotions will be his to own. "But I thought he can do it with his wife?" The thing is, if he didn't start again anew, he would be living in the expectations of his wife. He would try to be too perfect for her. There would be a lingering thought in his head that she likes him because of the facade he had shown her. But don't worry because it was already hinted that he's memory are coming back from time to time and he'll be able to own those painful and happy memories as Do Hyun Soo.

EDIT: I rewatched the ending and also based on some post on twitter, I realized that the memory lost was because of the big weight of psychological trauma he got in episode 15, with addition of the 14 years in hiding, almost losing your family and the prejudice the people in his village gave to him.

Without a doubt, Flower of Evil is one of Korea's masterpieces. This drama will surely warm my heart for a long time. By the way, the last kiss shared by the leads was the best kissing scene I've ever watched -- intimate, and pure of love and longing.

Flower of Evil is a 10/10 for me.

Oh my goodness. Can I just say, I loved episode 15 so much?! Until now, my heart is aching because of Hyun Soo…
"I see dead people."

That cry of Hyun Soo literally made me cry waterfalls. You must know how dearing that scene is if you have been so lost once in your life. Good job to Lee Joon Gi for acting that scene.

Jung Mi Sook's acting is very sincere too, I felt the pain that she had gone through, and yet, her kindness remains towards Hyun Soo and even to her killer, Baek Hee Seong.

I have not watched this drama. I am so confused by all the negative comments that I don’t understand how this…
It's a good drama, but it would have been better, if it was only 12 episodes. The lessons were there, it was touching and I understand the decisions of the characters and I sympathized with them, but the drama had dragged and became too long for me. Read Minarii's review, I personally agree with her.

I don't know if I should give it a try ... Is it worth to watch ?
If you like thriller, suspense and melodrama in combination, try it.

lee joon gi is carrying the drama, honestly.
well, to be honest, all the people in the production ARE carrying the drama. I loved Lee Joon Gi but this is not a one man show, even him, admitted that he's co-actors are really really good. He even praised Moon Chae Won (on his IG live) since both of them complement each other's acting.

Why MCY face is so different in this drama. Her face thickness is not original,it seems she got plastic surgery.
She lose some weight because she personally identifies to the psychological suffering that her character needs to go through (she already said this in one of their interviews). Her weight loss is evident from episode 6 up to the current episode. Notice in episode 1 that she still has that chubby cheeks. And, I agree with Nauriya's comment about her appearance, Moon Chae Won is doing great portraying Cha Ji Won and that's all that matters. Peace.

I hate the stupidity of some characters. Do Hae So went to the Baeks family and revealed that she knows something…
they outsmarted him. he thought he can corner baek man woo and make him confess. apparently, he didn't know baek hee seung is now alive, kicking and is the real accomplice, hence, he wasn't able to think of other variables. Hyun Soo is not dumb, it's just that, Baek Hee Sung is smarter, afterall, he's the accomplice.

psychologist who? physiciatrist who? kdrama taught us you only need to find a companion who loves you soooo much…
I don't know about other kdramas, I haven't watched them yet. I have only watched a psychological movie of Ryan Gosling named Lars and the Real Girl, which is an American movie and it's really good, then for a kdrama, Flower of Evil is my first.

Assuming you are talking about other kdramas, here's my opinion on Flower of Evil: Hyun Soo and Ji Won's relationship had span for 14 years and they have a child together. Not to mention that he also has his sister who keeps on pushing him to be better during those years when he was being mentally and physically abused by the village people. Therefore, I can say that Flower of Evil is not just a rom-com that cured other's sickness in a blink of an eye, Hyun Soo's emotional healing took many many years, it did not happen overnight just because a girl loved him, nope. Now, for his psychological state, we are still unsure if Hyun Soo has an ASPD. But if he has, I doubt that he's completely healed, the past episodes were just examples that he's not. By the way, I've read that people with ASPD can love their family although the way they show their love is not similar with how normal people do it. Back to Hyun Soo's psychological health, we never really know the progress of his ASPD diagnosis since there were no follow-up treatments, his last treatment was when he was still 12 years old. Hyun Soo is almost close to 40 now (maybe 36 years old), so there are many things that have changed a lot since then.

And, I do believe that the support and interaction that he gained from his little family have really played a huge part on his psychological being. Yes, we know that it's not a professional treatment but the love of his family is a lot lot lot more than we can think of, especially for a person like him (as others put it, his family is his safe-haven). In addition, even psychiatrist, as far as I know, they always put family support and healthy social interactions in the treatments of their patients. I mean, how in the world could a person just heal by only taking medicines and nothing more? He needs social interaction and most of all, he needs love and kindness -- sounds, overrated? I know -- but I strongly think that those factors are all part of making someone's mental health better.

I only do hope that Hyun Soo will receive a proper diagnosis before this drama ends and get professional scheduled treatment from a psychiatrist, so he improves more, although he has already improved a lot since his sister last saw him when he was just 18 years old.

(please, this comment above is just my opinion, this can't be purely accurate, I apologize in advanced if there were parts that I was wrong^^)
