I understand what you are saying. I also love this drama and look forward to watching each episode, but this has…
Maybe it's because of her character's calm demeanor as a detective. It was actually very contrasting to her senior is a little bit bulgar and instead of focusing on facts, focuses on his own institutions or biased judgments.
However, I do think that they did a good job on building up her character as a smart detective (as what they've shown on the ending scene of ep 6) whose judgments are not clouded by her own feelings but rather focuses on only the truth.
it's not the end of the world if people dont like her acting. also it's part of the show. and just because someone…
I know this is just my opinion, but on the romantic aspect, I don't think that the director meant to show their love story being romantic on the first three episodes, however slowly, they hinted us of their married life dynamics until they've reach episode 4 and showed us more clear view of Lee Joon Gi's character's feelings.
Going back on the first three eps before episode 4, I think the romantic aspect was really meant to be calculative, artificial and a little bit creepy. I mean, they gave a creepy scene of Lee Joon Gi (I loved his role and his acting, btw) then putted a lovey-dovey scenes of the couple in the next, so it would be expected that viewers will not find their scenes endearing or heartwarming. I just don't think that this is because of the female lead's acting. If you are also to watch the scenes where Lee Joon Gi's character tries to play with Eunha and act cute in their home with her or try to laugh with her wife, it also looked artificial for me and it was not because of the actor because I know he's doing great, but rather it was the atmosphere and lack of the story that they showed for the married couple in the first few eps. Actually, because of those first few eps, a lot of people actually thought (including me) that this drama will be a full blown thriller.
I respect your opinion if you really don't like her teenage character, but if you are pointing out that the actress is bad just because of the character she's playing, it is biased. (: Btw, you've said that her character is annoying then said that you don't like her acting but loved her character, your comment above made me confused o.O
I am not really a fan of this kind of story, first half was kinda slow for me and I did not like the personality of the male lead's character, but the second half is better. Overall, it turned out to be a good film, at least for me.
Btw, other might've not noticed it but, I loved Moon Chae Won's expressions on this movie especially when she's trying to push the guy's antics while they are working together. I think her expressions are natural and I really like that!
To me she is one of the best Korean actresses and worldwide. I've seen her first in The Princess's Man and her…
Going back to her tongue surgery, I haven't really seen it. Do you have a link of it? I've been following her since 2013, although I was not quite active, but I haven't really read about that. Maybe what you've seen was her eye surgery?
To me she is one of the best Korean actresses and worldwide. I've seen her first in The Princess's Man and her…
I still haven't watched, "The Princess' Man" but it aired on my country last 2012. I wasn't able to watch it before because it aired so late and I was really busy with school (but, my dad who doesn't want to be called a fan of kdramas watched every episode of it xD), but I am planning to watch it soon because I've really heard very very good news. Moon Chae Won even got many awards and nominations for that! One is best actress nomination for baeksang and one nomination on Monte Carlo Awards.
I've first seen her in The Innocent Man and I loved how she played the role. I've watched her other dramas too after that (except Goodbye Mr. Black and Criminal Minds) and I will agree that most of the recent dramas she played after The Innocent Man did not have much layers so her skills were not explored more. Good Doctor was an amazing drama but it did not give much avenue for her emotions. Still, I loved her character there!
Btw, my favorite movie of her is "The Awaiting", I know it's very very short but I literally cried so much on that film, her acting was well captured and portrayed there as the young image of an old woman who waits for her husband to comeback from north korea.
I understand your frustration, but criticisms are good for improvement, still one should do it respectfully. But…
I understand your point, when I watch some dramas (especially if it becomes too popular) there are few people in who are even early in the episode that will hate the character the female lead is playing and turn against the female lead, however, I seldom see this happening to the male lead.
This is so full of suspense, it's crazy! I've have never been more invested in a drama. Each character is so well…
Right? I hope more kdramas have a character like the female lead. She's so strong and goes straight into facts instead of letting her emotions rule over her.
To me she is one of the best Korean actresses and worldwide. I've seen her first in The Princess's Man and her…
I haven't read an article that said she had a tongue surgery. And, I don't have a problem with her modulation. I am not good in Korean but I've watched fair shares of kdramas and I know when they act well or not, or when they make extremely cute voices (and I hate it when they overdo it >.<, other times I cringe, other times I just laugh it off xD).
But, I don't think Chae Won is bad on this. She actually aced this role! First few episodes showed here calm demeanor as a detective but in episode 5 to 6, she took all of her mask to save her husband and confront the truth about her husband's dark past.
Episode 1 to 3 is not meant to show the real dynamics of their married life, it was meant to become creepy to the point that even the scenes where they are lovey dovey will be looking artificial and creepy! But I still liked it tho. Episode 4 shed some light why they ended up together in the first place and we are able to relate on their story (like why they are meant to be as Hee Sung said on the first ep) . Episode 5 and 6 switched the theme from thriller to a suspenseful melodrama.
Btw, I think few have problem with the flashback scenes as Chae Won's character needs to act cute and is chasing him, but I don't think she acts weird on that. I actually liked their flashback scenes, I hope they will still show more. Btw, it's normal for her to be awkward when talking to him especially on ep 3's flashback, because of all, it's her crush and he's being super cold on her, who would not be awkward? I will surely be awkward. Episode 5's flashback also showed her character being drunk and she kinda acted cute there because her character needs it (this is unrelated but even Joon Gi said that she's cute when she said it like that xD, sorry I kinda ship them now, behind the scenes are so cute). If others would've watched her other drunk scenes in other dramas, it was actually so funny because she does good in acting so bulgar when drunk xD But in here, it's a little different, she's still straight forward but her character in 20s has more like an innocent and brighter personality.
What other dramas of her you've watched?I think she's a great actress, I've watched The Innocent Man, Good Doctor,…
Btw, it's so sad that you dropped, The Good Doctor, I think it is a masterpiece T_T The story and the autistic doctor's character is very well written plus Moon Joo Won's acting is daebak! Perhaps, you've watched the american version of it?
The FL’s acting is really off. She’s too stiff, sometimes she’s overreacting, other times she’s too calm…
I don't see her overreacting especially on the scenes where she took of her detective mask, to go and save her husband. I think she actually did very well on that and I can relate to her sudden outburst of emotions. The scene in episode 6 where her calmness broke off when Hee Sung / Hyun Su said she needs to go home, sleep and take a break is fantastic. I actually felt their raw emotions on that.
But, I agree that she's too calm on the first few episodes, but that's her character demeanor and personality as a detective, very contrasting to her senior who's swayed by his own institutions (tho, I liked the senior detective superb!!! but I would want someone as calm and as professional as Ji Won in real life to solve the cases as a police officer).
Moon Chae Won's acting is superb and she can pull off any roles. For those peeps who said that Chae Won's acting…
And lastly, if it is because of the husband and wife moments in first few episodes, I don't think it is Moon Chae Won's acting that some felt their moments artificial, because first of all, it was meant to be felt like that. Yes, their relationship on the first 3 episodes was not meant to be heartwarming and look real, it was meant to feel artificial and to good to be true, because they are staying with their synopsis that the male lead character only faked his love to his wife.
They gave us more creepy scenarios then suddenly put a scene of them when they are in love and as much as I want to squeal in that, I can't, because even with their lovey dovey scenes became a little creepier as they went in the road to show Joon Gi's character much more darker. But, I still loved those moments become they showed layers of Joon Gi's character.
But everything starting to felt real when they introduced episode 4 starting with the flashback of their date in the rain and in episode 6 we are now able to relate on their relationship for the past 14 years. Now, I'm convinced that Joon Gi's faking emotions with her family is not because he did not love them, but because he felt safe and comfortable with them, he wanted to become normal for them. They showed thriller on first few episodes, and they are keeping the suspense but with melodrama as the main focus as the story moves along its climax.
Moon Chae Won's acting is superb and she can pull off any roles. For those peeps who said that Chae Won's acting…
The other reasons I see why people said that they did not like her acting is because of the biased judgment they have on the character she's playing especially now that we are on episode 6 and her character is digging into the past of her husband. I personally loved her character now that I'm seeing layers of her, unlike before that I wasn't able to see through her, her character seemed very mysterious to me in the past episodes tho I know she truly loves her husband. Plus, the way her character is loyal to her husband even though she lied to him is a big big plus to m, remember when he woke up? She immediately hugged him she did not lashed out on him and say bad things towards him.
The scene in the hospital where she broke? Come on. That was a fine performance between the actors and I can't believe some people did not like that scene. T.T She obviously loved him and she's very hurt that he's not waking for 10 days, it's similar to losing a family member and it's always difficult for the family member to cope up with the lose, hence her reaction. And to be honest, her reaction is actually calmer because she knew that he's Do Hhyun Soo at that point but she did not confront him about it!! If I am her, I would have lose it.
I personally loved that she's investigating the truth instead of believing those hear sayings. Her love for her husband and her family is commendable.
To be honest, in some drama comment sections I've gone through, I seldom see hate comments for the male lead, but mostly on the female lead except if the female lead is the center of the story, well in this case, the first few episodes showcased Joon Gi's character more than Chae Won, hence the sympathy will be gone through the male lead's character. Don't get me wrong here, I sympathized with Joon Gi's character, I loved the male lead, he's very good at this. I first saw him in Arang and the Magistrate and although I wasn't particularly impressed on his acting there, I liked him and I was also able to see Scarlet Heart where he gave one great performance and I'm convinced that "aaaah, he's a great actor!"
I remember watching The Innocent Man once again at the height of DOTS popularity and many people are very biased. They complimented Song Joong Ki, but they say they hate the female lead, she's annoying and all and they are only watching it because of Song Joong Ki. Then others also commented that Song Joong Ki is also bad in this drama, etc, etc, well in fact, Chae Won and Joong Ki aced that drama and received good criticisms for their acting. Both of them are in same caliber and they delivered their characters very well done. I can't forget the scene where Chae Won's eye is almost cut because of her father and her glaring eyes is wow. Her scene with Soong Joong Ki when she had an amnesia is truly good too, although others did not like that she became pitiful. Now, what I'm going to say is, there are people who are really like that, they can be biased of their opinions on the actors based on the characters they are playing.
Going back on Flower of Evil, Chae Won's character is doing better here and I'm loving how she acts now that we are heading towards episode 7. Btw, expect more hate as Chae Won's character will start to investigate her husband~!
Moon Chae Won's acting is superb and she can pull off any roles. For those peeps who said that Chae Won's acting…
I see some talk that she's stiff on first few episodes (particularly ep 1 to 3), but if one should carefully look into the personalities of character, Ji Won in her job, she's mostly really calm, she's not baffled by her emotions and if she did, it would affect her most lightly, and this is very contrasting to her senior detective's personality.
I personally liked her senior detective because he's very fun to watch, although in real life, I will prefer a cop like Ji Won who take on facts instead of her own biased judgments.
However, I do think that they did a good job on building up her character as a smart detective (as what they've shown on the ending scene of ep 6) whose judgments are not clouded by her own feelings but rather focuses on only the truth.

this drama from the way I'm seeing it is even better than it's synopsis. I'm surely enjoying the emotional ride that this drama is giving me.
Btw, other might've not noticed it but, I loved Moon Chae Won's expressions on this movie especially when she's trying to push the guy's antics while they are working together. I think her expressions are natural and I really like that!
