yes, I've noticed that many characters in this genre are driven by those feelings, but like I've said in my previous comment, it's idealistic so it breaks the immersion in the series for me a bit because I can't relate or find it much realistic. As for Zhi Bai's actions it's different. I don't feel the same way about his character, it was more credible and deep. Also don't get me wrong, I still find this drama excellent.

I get that, but there are other jobs they still could do once they come out of jail. Of course there is stigma and it's not easy, but it's not like they had no other choice.

the vengeance for the 5th buddy was included in my comment. I still think that wasn't something normal people would do. Their loyalty is something else. Their results may have been messed up, but that's not a death sentence.

there's love between two characters in their past, but not much skinship is shown, it's more platonic lingering and grief.

I think that Zhi Bai's friends' loyalty was a bit unrealistic. They dedicated their youth (10 years is a lot!) to just the vengeance for their friends and did nothing else?! That's not something one easily does for a loved one, let alone academy friends or sense of justice. Felt a bit like an anime or plot convenience.

This reminded me of the j-dorama of 2015 called Ouroboros. Both are very sad and have protagonists consumed with vengeance. Overall I liked it a lot, although at times it was too overdramatic and idealistic.

If you think that some things are strange or seem wrong at the beginning just wait. I was about to comment that some things didn't make sense, but there's an explanation!

The mind palace is so cool. Gives Sherlock vibes (although I'm not a big fan of the BBC version). In fact they even talk about detective Sherlock later in the drama!

btw if you liked the theme of the finale, I recommend watching the series DEVS that also has a "villain" doing a similar thing with the worlds, but instead of magic he uses science (if you've fished you know what I mean).

P.P.S.: they totally forgot about the tiger at some point and it was nowhere to be seen. Maybe too expensive to add (it's made entirely in CG and it takes time to animate the movement and add in the video in post XD)

The overall sense of boredom stayed for me till the end. The villains kinda disappointed, felt cartoonish. I've read someone said they're Team Rocket level and I agree XD. Overall I like the message of the drama (the characters realize that the most important thing is to cherish the time they have with their loved ones, and not things like: the material wealth, eternal life alone&bored, power and ambition basically) and the finale was fair and sweet even for some grey characters. Recommended if you like the cast and "same love in multiple lives/incarnations" trope and tsunderes. ^^'
