I think that the relationship with her parents changed. First they weren't that close, she even thought they would be better without her, but her dad still prepared the money and her mom was running towards her, not paying attention to stay composed and such. So I want to believe they will raise her with more care...she needs that after, well...ALL that happened to her and all that SHE did.

She's from wealthy family (over-vise they wouldn't like to kidnap her brother). She is very respectful of the elders (the way she waits for the "big brother" to eat, the way she greets her mom..), probably very obedient , studies and does what is told... That's what I've noticed.

I don't think you can use the transitive property in all cases, he's not a passive entity, his actions and decisions mattered too. Also, rather than comfort I see them as helping hand, an action rather than just words, something like this. As for the fact that it makes her weaker, definitely, but maybe that's what makes her happy and she's not success-oriented after all?
