It’s that good, fresh romance Jung So Min always gives us!! I loved it, but the uncle plot was sooo bad I skipped…
Don’t expect anything deep.... it’s just a light, kinda silly romance. I feel like instead of that uncle plot they could’ve focused on her relationship with his family, but then it would’ve turned into ANOTHER cliché plot… and honestly, the worst one for me is when they reveal the leads met as kids. That trope is SO annoying

Ugh it annoys me SO much when I’m watching a K-drama and they suddenly drop the “they met as kids” thing. Like pleaseee 😩 this one even broke a record................ episode 2 already!
Aside from what I already said, the story is actually good. But I also think this is the Chinese drama with the most beautiful people I’ve ever seen. It’s honestly stunning.... the set design, the costumes, the special effects. Even though the story slows down a bit in the middle for me, it gets really good again toward the end, and the plot is well put together with no loose ends and a solid ending.
I started watching this show because everyone was talking about it on TikTok, and the beginning was really good, but after like episode 20 it gets super boring. I'm on episode 28 now and have zero motivation to keep going.
Also, I don’t think the main couple really matches. Lu Yu Xiao has a more natural kind of beauty and she fits better with actors who look more masculine, while the male lead here has a softer, more modern look. (rewrote my comment because the other one made me sound like a crazy hater lol)
The beginning was really good, but from the middle to the end I just wanted to watch Ruo Wen’s scenes. I actually think Ruo Wen’s secondary storyline turned out much better.
The performances were flawless, and it was visually stunning too. I have to say, when I watched episode 1, I came here and commented something like “Wow, I’m already having war flashbacks with Chen He Yi as the second lead again, please give him a main role, I can’t stand seeing him lose the girl to the ML one more time,” and someone replied “Enjoy the chaos,” and honestly, that’s exactly how I felt hahaha.
I really loved that in this series everyone has nuances, no one is completely evil or good. The villains aren’t just bad, and the good guys aren’t perfect. Sometimes the person who’s awful to you can still show love and care for others, and that’s just life.
I’ve liked Li Qin since Princess Agents, and this was my first time watching Chen Zhe Yuan. I thought they had great chemistry, but the second couple totally stole the show. I think that’s because the main couple’s relationship developed really quickly, they fell in love and confessed without fear (which was beautiful too haha), but by the end, we were more emotionally attached to the second couple’s story since the main one was focused on problems outside their romance.
And honestly, the second couple are such amazing actors. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for Xia Meng and Qin Tian Yu, they’re both so talented. I really hope this drama opens doors for more great projects for them, and also for Chen He Yi, who once again proved how good he is.
Overall, this one deserves a high score, and considering how many great Chinese dramas we’ve had this year, this one is definitely among the top for me.
Looks like the emperor and the delulu princess (2nd lead couple) stole the limelight (became more popular than…
I think it’s because the main couple’s plot wrapped up faster (in terms of them falling in love and admitting their feelings). But for me, the second couple totally stole the show. Their chemistry and acting were really good.
At around 20 minutes into the first episode, Chen He Yi shows up... when are they finally going to give this poor guy a main role? Every time I see his face I get war flashbacks from all the suffering he’s gone through in other dramas 😭😭😭😭😭😭
You did watch “Genie, Make a Wish,” right? Because the description you gave says otherwise.
Yes, I watched it and in my opinion that’s how I feel, feel free to disagree ^^
I’m not a hater of Bon Appétit though (if that’s what bothered you), I just think they got lost in the story and a lot of things ended up messy. It was a poor use of the couples’ chemistry and of good actors.
Well, the story isn’t really my type, I mostly watched it because of Lusi. I didn’t think the main couple had much chemistry. I’m on episode 23 and honestly not very motivated to finish it, and to be fair, she’s not exactly innocent either, they totally deserve each other, lol. I couldn’t really believe in his redemption arc, that he only realized he loved her after losing her. He was a rich guy used to getting everything he wanted and not being told no.
And btw, going against the current trend of Korean dramas (which have been REALLY bad lately), this one clearly had its 13 episodes properly planned, no unnecessary filler, and nothing got cut in a way that made the story nonsensical (like what happened in Bon Appétit). The romance is well developed, the story is beautiful, and the visual effects are really good. It’s sad all the hate, because now Netflix will just focus on those terrible shows with awful production, story, and writing that you all rate highly only because of the actors.
This one is really good, the story is well put together, it’s fun, with great chemistry and solid characters, both main and supporting. The hate it’s getting is totally disproportionate. It’s a fantasy story. Just like many others that draw from different religions, if you’re sensitive about that, then simply don’t watch it.
That is because it is the main theme, any main romance drama with 12 eps will start from ep 6 or 5 but this isnt…
I thought it was romance. I actually thought the two of them had good chemistry, but it was poorly used. Every episode felt like MasterChef. Unfortunately, it wasn’t really to my liking 😭😭
I think they focused more on the cooking than the romance. The romance felt way too rushed, while the scenes of her cooking and people eating took up like 70% of the episodes. There were parts where I just couldn’t stand watching her cook anymore and started skipping.
It started off really well but completely lost its way halfway through. And the ending? What was that? He just shows up out of nowhere in a suit?? I mean, sure, it’s fantasy, but come on. I’ve seen Chinese time-travel dramas handle the return way better. Anyway… as always, Korean dramas being disappointing. The days when they knew how to make a good romcom are long gone.
Not to mention the wasted potential of great actors like Kang Han Na, such a shame. The only good thing was Jo Jae Yoon finally playing an honorable character for once hahahaha.
