exactly! i'm trying to push us out of just worrying about the law so literally and more into how their ages come about and what it means for us morally and the type of world we are showing kids and younger people.
we all understand that there's discomfort. if i'm acting in an intense sex scene with a 17 year old at 33, even in thailand or italy or japan or wherever there are diff consent laws, i hope we can see how off that is (his co-actor was 28...). and coupled with an industry known (literally in EVERY country it exists in) for it's exploitation physically, emotionally, and sexually of children, women, and people....i cannot imagine any other scenario where a parent would sign a permission slip for this honestly.
we find little interest in how our enjoyment can effect other people. and now this gets turned on its head of us being too puritanical and curbing choice when those choices are made in a very specific vacuum. another reason why they do it is bc they know they can get away with it :/

i'm not really into the law so my issue isn't legality but how that age is constructed. people are exploited so often but for a 19 (damn near 20!) year old to be with someone only 3 years older and for the dynamics to be created because of work...this isn't something to be upset over. there's nothing to indicate in their performances that this would be a problem story-wise or as they work! he may be exploited but this isn't the reason why! and one would hope he would feel comfortable with someone only slightly older. it begs the question: are these fans actually concerned?
