*i too am speculating but there is a lot more verifiable evidence that this happens—and is documented—to be the truth. maybe i can look into her and see when i have time.

my issue is that you all characterize china this way and say "evil regimes" as if you also don't live in places that are evil regimes. especially if you're from the united states of america. and people's sinophobia DOES play into this.

this man dies and then BAM we have all this info. i was lead to believe the videos were real because VERY few people had doubts but i remained confused. i had to scour for extra information and i still do. because where did this all come from?

so now we're all stuck with these images and ideas in our heads, no response, and a government (regime, whatever) that is hellbent on curbing unleashed rumors. it's a sticky situation. i'm not saying nothing happened. i'm wary because of a famous singer that recently murdered a girl and the fans were basically aware of the abuse. i'm aware that the truth is stranger than fiction. but now we have no way to get to the bottom of this. it's fucked up. people don't realize they're playing a part. it's clear people are expressing their grievances with how china decides to run their country and casting stones but not even looking at where they're situated.

frankly i hope this isn't true and that shows the absurdity of this whole situation AND shows how you cannot just delete what people are saying or ban things to fix a societal problem—people turning to the internet because they are alienated and forced to. that means that china is implicated on how citizens decided to express themselves after his death.

i'm not saying this is right but i feel like they're deleting things because it's not confirmed and they don't want misinformation spread. deleting his existence is another can of worms.

i'm not sure what to think about all this and the misinformation is frustrating. i don't ever trust police either. but i do think this is the government's way of immense crackdown because of the online ecosystem and their need to control. part of why this is blowing up is because people are pissed off at being silenced in general which i don't think is right. and then it gets picked up by asian arms of western news sources. they did rule it a suicide at first though which is weird. i don't think what they're doing is right but i don't come from a country that doesn't do the same (or worse).

what i'm truly perplexed about (and if anyone has answers lmk) is like...what prompted this? what prompted people to look into this? and if those videos aren't of him what are these videos? that's my biggest concern because this shit is so muddy and weird. how did this even pop off?? a lot of these comments are very misinformed about their own rights and people's rights in china. but i want to know how this specifically came about.
