Title Why R U?
Yes, completely random especially the last scene. It's not even a question of missing scenes or lack of character…
You're right that's exactly what they should have done. Instead, it seems they're hinting at some boring love triangle in case of a S2 (and with the guy who looks old enough to be Blue's father...)

I've rewatched it and I'm still angry about that scene: I really hate it when writers disrespect their characters like that. Poor Blue barely had any scenes throughout the series and they give him that!!!! It's too bad because the conversation right before was actually sweet and they could perfectly have ended it after that. What made the whole thing even more disturbing for me is that he looks extremely young (and a lot younger than his partner) so the comedic effect they were looking for fell completely flat and ended up being totally revolting.

Title Why R U?
Dew & Blue’s scene was so random? We didn’t even get scenes leading up to their romance.
Yes, completely random especially the last scene. It's not even a question of missing scenes or lack of character development: there is no reason for Blue to be inviting this guy home like that! He's been presented as the sweet innocent character the whole time and in the scene right before that they're barely establishing a romantic connection. It's like the director can't be bothered anymore: at least, the spectators won't bother us with more Dew Blue scenes now that we've ruined their storyline...

I don't understand. You support her, but what about Bright who I suppose you're a fan of? He seems like a sweet…
I have to agree, she's probably a little too attention seeking and that 's not possible when your boyfriend becomes famous overnight. That being said, what infuriated the original poster (and myself) are misinformed people who end up siding with the crazy Chinese fans on extremely controversial topics (Taiwan for exemple) or accuse her of racism just because "she is soooo jealous of Win" (the Ratatouille post is so far fetched I can't believe people actually buy it)

I don't think we can consider his girlfriend a public figure (like the former First Lady): she's not a celebrity and she's not even his "official" partner. Therefore, she doesn't have any real duty to maintain complete silence on social media. Besides, the only thing she's "guilty"of is retweeting a conspirationist post: not a very smart act but she's far from being the only one to do so on twitter.

A lot of people here seem confused about what is going on or are sharing false information. Please check this…
Thanks for the link: the article and the comments really explained perfectly this absurd situation ( I think a few people should have read it before leaving comments here...) I learnt a lot about the toxicity of the Chinese fandom culture and it surely puts lots of things into perspective regarding the Asian entertainment industry in general.

I totally agree when you mention the fact that fantasizing is different from actually enacting irl. I mean what would be the point of fantasies if not for creating an alternate reality where you could do things you would never dare to do? The problem I have with this author is that in her stories the dominated character is always reluctant and appears to be a mere receptacle for the dominant character's desires. His own desire and pleasure seem irrelevant (and who cares if it's painful) which sounds a lot like what women have been led to believe for centuries (the famous "grin and bear it" motto) Thankfully we have moved on from that, and that's why I find it so depressing to find scenes like that especially in stories that are meant to be romantic.
Sorry for this overly long comment, I'll have a look at danmei novels now that you mentioned it. So far the only Chinese novel I've read is the Lawless Gangster.

I agree on everything you said from the beginning. I just want to add that BDSM relationships aren't about violence/rape/torture…
I'm divided between face-palming and gagging... What's even more sickening and worrying is when you realize lots of wattpad readers are young teenagers (or even pre-teens) who tend to take what they read without the necessary distancing.

Very good choice: the novel really isn't worth reading. I am also a big fan of the series and it's probably going to end up being one of my favorite (I'm just waiting until it's completed because I've often been disappointed by the second half of dramas)

As you said, it's been normalized: you just need to see the hundreds of comments after the rape scene in Love by Chance on YT saying it's the funniest thing they've ever seen. Or the simple fact that people are eagerly expecting Love Mechanics next week when the story is: guy gets brutally raped in the first chapter then falls in love with his rapist...

You're completely right when you mention internalized misogyny concerning the writers and unfortunately often their readers. I find it really depressing because fiction should be a way to escape from reality and maybe even open your mind to new ideas and ways of life. Instead, they're using it to justify the narrow minded ideas they've been imprinted with. When I first started watching BL, I foolishly thought "It's far from reality but at least it shows that people are becoming more open minded about it". Then I read comments like: "I don't approve of their choices but they are so cuuuuute" and I realized how wrong I had been...

I really feel that the author must have a twisted view of sexual relationships since the sex scene in Theory of Love is built the same way. It feels like a transfer of this outdated vision of relationships where the woman has to fulfill her partner's needs whether she likes it or not. After reading those scenes, all I want to tell the writer is: it's okay if you don't enjoy having sex but you shouldn't make your poor characters suffer because of it!

This series was going so well, and then Bohn had to go and say: "I don't like men. I only like Duen." Seriously??…
I could be wrong but maybe he used that excuse to get rid of the annoying guy in the bathroom. If I remember correctly he had said earlier to his friends that he didn't really care about gender which would be a more logical explanation. Anyway I hope so because this line sounds so fake and cringy everytime we hear it (I rewatched Sotus recently and skipped the entire scene where this line occurs because it's simply too embarrassing)

Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of the author's style or I was expecting too much from it but I felt it lacked romance: I'm sure they were some "moments" but it's not a good sign I forgot them after two weeks. That's where the series works great: as Bright once said, it's a classic romcom and delivers all the classic moments you're looking for in this type of show.

I don't get why people feel so attached to a book they haven't even finished (since it was taken down before the end) I was actually rather disappointed by the way the characters were presented: the book really lacks proper characterization where the series managed to give life to Tine and Wat almost instantly. The car scene they miss so much really was nothing special ( I barely remember it actually) Not to mention of course the frankly unsettling sex scene which seems to be a habit of the author since the one in Theory of love was just as bad.

It's funny how this series is like a guided tour in Thai BL land (what a fun theme park that would be by the way!) It takes you through all the tropes and clichés you've seen before but I don't really care because for the moment it's just sweet, silly and charming. When I read comments that complain about the show's lack of originality I am speechless: have you read the synopsis or watched the trailer beforehand? Come on, even the title is a dead giveaway! So, yes it's not a great show, it's sometimes completely all over the place, but at least it doesn't take itself too seriously and the characters actually seem to have chemistry with each other (take note Tossara...)

Well, I may have exaggerated a tiny little bit :) Actually, the actors in mainstream films are okay and some even very good. I was mainly making fun of some so called "films d'auteur" (art films) with non professional actors, a very thin plot and extremely pompous dialogues. I've had to sit through a few of those when I took film classes in the past and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

I think you nailed it, that's exactly the problem with this show. I could deal with the absence of a plot, the emptiness of dialogues and the awkward acting (I am French so of course I'm used to that!) but at least give us characters that actually look like they enjoy each other's company... It seems that the only function of the supporting characters is to try and convince the spectators that Bar and Gun are worth shipping. Poor guys, they signed as actors but end up as mere cheerleaders for that sinking Tossara ship...

I read the comments and thought: "pff people here are too emotional I would never cry reading a yaoi manga". I stand corrected, I've just finished it and I'm still sobbing. As others have said before, this show, if done correctly, has the potential to be something really special and moving.

I would like to stay hopeful like you are (lots of series actually have a rather boring first episode) but I'm struggling to find anything that could save this one for me. The only positive in my case is the actor who plays Bar who managed to somewhat flesh out his character in the middle of this mess. I guess I'll give it one more episode before I drop it. Since I'm stuck at home anyway, at least it won't seem like such a waste of time...
