Zhao Yi Qin is so much better as an unhinged villain than whatever gentle righteous emotionless character that his character was pretending to be lol
I was just thinking that...in Yanxi palace (same writer, same director), why did I still care for YingLuo despite her perfect almost always successful scheme? I think it's because we know her as a person, we know what makes her tick. She has clear loves and hates. For RSB, we've never seen her shaken in any way. Besides knowing she is devoted to her duties, we actually don't know that much about her inner life - if she has one. This makes her scheming enjoyable on a surface level, her general wit and intelligence respectable, but she as a character is hard to feel invested in. I actually feel way more invested in LJL. His character is fun to root for :D and even the second and fourth sisters. We know what makes them tick, that makes them seem human.
Is anyone confused about Jun Dai? He's originally a servant in the Rong's household, given to LJL by Shanbao, but he's now more loyal to Lu than he is to Rong, going so far as to leave the Rong family to go with Lu. What gives?
MAJOR SPOILERS for ep 12: yoooo i wasn't expecting that he planned all this. so now that he's memory is back,…
I don't think he planned it. It could be his ex advisor covering stuff up. He might already know that LJL lost his memory and is using it to his advantage. Let's see what he remembers vs not in the next episode!
No Xiao means Little, and Da means Big. Da Qiao is Big Qiao and Xiao Qiao is Little Qiao. Da Qiao is the older cousin, whose full name is Qiao Fan (Qiao last name, Fan first name). Xiao Qiao is our FL, full name Qiao Man. So Xiao Qiao is a nickname and should be in that order. And the characters are Chinese, whose name are last-first in order.
I lol-ed when the Bianzhou soldiers, after a very short fight with Yan, now all followed him. I greatly enjoy this drama, and find it hard to ignore how easily convinced all the NPCs are (e.g. when Manman gave a speech and turned around a whole town).
Ep 19 was so intense. Wu Jin Yan is SO GOOD in this. Also the number of people who died lol if a new character appears, I'm inclined to assume they won't last for more than 4 episodes (usually less).

Seriously curious tho, how does he show his "care" for AR?I'm watching this but all I can get from him is red…
He made the sister reveal Lu An Ran's burial location to save her; in the first timeline especially where he didn't want to kill her (I know, low bar), and in the current timeline An Ran also remarked that in the first timeline it took him 3 years to take in that concubine - and we know that the concubine knows him growing up and has always been infatuated with him, so it's not like they just got to know each other later. The 3 years was in consideration for An Ran (again, low bar, but Mu Ze has a really low baseline for caring here lol) just a few examples! As you can see, these are all toxic behaviors even if they're caring behaviors.
XR is our typical evil without a cause female drama character. Her whole existence in the drama is that she hates…
There are people like this in real life though. I do think she's a weaker villain, esp if you compare her to the other more interesting antagonists, but her motivation is realistic to me.
I'm still on #NingMengDon'tNeedAMan train. SWR is a shit boyfriend. If he raises his hand once against his significant…
Agree! I accept that people can use growth and forgiveness for past mistakes, but LJM hasn't apologized even once for all the horrible things he said to Ning Meng, even as he now acknowledgez her talent. So until then...he's still not a viable romantic candidate for her :(
When everyone was hating on the ML for being such a jerk, I already knew the writers were setting up a psychological…
It explains, but doesn't excuse his behavior. Taking care of Ning Meng when she was sick is the first step. There are many many more things he will need to do to redeem himself!
I don't see any viable redemption path for Lu Ji Ming, let alone a romantic path. I wish this drama was not a romance at all but a drama about how Ning Meng fights against all odds to achieve her dreams. It's so toxic that she would eventually end up with (as already spoiled in the trailers) the CEO who verbally and emotionally abuses her continually.
This drama is trying to be both a romcom and a workplace drama about the entertainment industry. Our main leads' dynamic is actually the most interesting part of the drama, but they only show it for less than half of each episode. The other subplots and side characters are not that interesting. I remember The producers did a good job of focusing on the 4 main leads while still showing interesting entertainment industry storylines that the main leads are involved in. I'll keep watching for the OTP, but will have to ff the other scenes!
I agree, the first half is better than the second. The part where she rode in the bus wearing a helmet was so…
Oh I don't think she ran away- she said she just wanted to go to the hospital to have another premonition dream. For a career woman like her it feels realistic to get a bit nervous and curious about how many kids she will have. She did say she was gonna come back and I believed it :)
