Great review. You write really well and I couldn't have said it better myself. I wish I can write well like you, but I will say what I can say in my own humble way. I am really glad that both you and I really love this show, and I hope there will be more of this great quality story-telling drama in the future
After reading all the comments below about the ending, I am still going to finish this drama because it is a drama about an epic journey after all (to love? to save the emperor? whatever?). I love the warm family-like relationships between the squad and the princess and the blooming affections between the main ML & FL. All of them have endeared themselves to my heart and it's only fitting that I watch their whole story until the end. Never before have I loved a historical C-drama like this before; and I have watched so many C-dramas in my 20 years of life. This shows how much historical C-dramas have improved. A Journey to Love (AJTL) has great story-telling, directing, cinematography, funny moments, fight scenes, bromances and passionate acting of all the casts; I am sure the whole film crew also put in their hard work too. It's definitely is one of the best C-dramas of 2023.
I wish this drama is also shown on Viki. Even iQiyi only shows the one with Thai subtitles. I am currently in South Korea and whatever VPN I try to use, the version iQiyi has only the Thai version. Can someone help me please? Maybe I should ask Viki to get this drama because it is very good and very popular. LOL
I guessed I can summed it up like this - It was just a dream, only a dream. LOL Sometimes, I have lovely dreams too and when I wake up, I wished that I can return to the dream and stay there forever.... hahaha.... wishful thinking.
I will start this drama just for Leo Wu... I really love him in Love Like the Galaxy, but not for his subsequent modern dramas. Maybe I will like this 2018 drama too. :D
I saw on social media that Korean men are also afraid of cockroaches; there's one where a group of 4-5 guys screaming and jumping on sofas and coffee table when one of their friends were bravely chasing after one cockroach and spraying a whole insecticide bottle at the poor captured roach. The same reaction can be seen with the flying chicken in one of the episode. Hilarious !! LOL !!
I am usually uninterested in fantasy genre. But recently, ongoing kdramas are mostly fantasy genre so I succumbed…
I am like you, and I agree to all your questions. I actually dropped other fantasy Kdramas aired this year because they were not executed well. For example: The Durian Affair, Destined with You; Moon in The Day. Somehow, the story don't appeal to me. But those mentioned by you (except Behind Your Touch) are the ones I really liked. :D
I finally dropped this drama at episode 7. Why is it even 14 episodes? This could have been a 8-episode drama with the way it dragged on and on. Sigh... LOL
