". It's just like in one episode, leads are like we should definitely get together and be in a relationship. "…
For me even that romantic line felt unnatural. A person attacking the female character for apparently no reason, male character beating him up... Ugh... Male character helping out in an orphanage, just because...
It all seemed like too much of a coincidence or rather should I say convenience. And then suddenly he are like Will you follow me to Africa, and afterwards she's like I'll go looking for him... Why..? Just because they spent some time together...
Wow...
It's like the producer of the show saying "they should just get into a relationship, make it happen."(There's no credible reason other than to make her get into a relationship to show that she has overcome her trauma) (just wow)...

I completely agree with your point that Kdramas are trying not to be kdramas anymore. They are starting to think that in order to appeal to the Worldwide audiences, they have to make their dramas like English series (especially with the involvement of Netflix in Korea). Nowadays, we are getting more series with multiple seasons which used to be a rare thing in kdramas (Actually not having second seasons, and reaching a satisfying conclusion/ending are one of the main features that drew me towards Kdramas). Also nowadays, Kdrama industry is more focused on not making Romantic kdramas. I feel like I haven't seen any other Romantic kdramas which make my heart flutter after Something in the Rain [maybe, One Spring Night (well, both of them have almost the same vibe)].
Even with CLOY, although the chemistry was off the charts and there are lots of comedy in it, I couldn't find that factor which makes my heart flutter, plays with my emotions, makes me anxious etc...
Just like you said, I thought that I've seen all the Romance in kdramas and that there's nothing more that I've left to see, and that is the reason I couldn't enjoy these dramas anymore.
But Recently I've come across the Taiwanese drama "Someday or Oneday" 2019 (A Masterpiece), and found all those factors that I've been missing in the Kdrama world. Even though that drama had elements which I don't usually like I had a Great time watching it (or should I say painful time) (It's one of the few dramas I could give a 10/10 immediately) (Definitely Recommended).
So, it's not that I couldn't enjoy Romance anymore, but there are no Good Romantic Kdramas anymore.
Nowadays Dramas are like what Ryan George says in his pitch meeting "They should have Romantic Relationship between them, because they are both attractive". There's no much development into the Romance or the Development of fewls into the Romance. It's just like in one episode, leads are like we should definitely get together and be in a relationship. There are no stakes in the relationship, [the only stakes are veey manhwa type wherein another girl/guy comes in, wants to be in relationship with the leads for apparently no reason and makes you frustrated for no reason (which by the way is just frustrating and lazy writing)] The romance is not tested with internal conflicts, trust etc... Maybe the writers are afraid or too lazy to try it out all again...
Anyways, I apologise for the long Rant.

Agree, the plot is quite predictable. But imo Yi Seo isn't a strong girl, she is just immature
I say that she is strong because she knows what she wants to do. Unlike many other characters from other dramas, She knows what to do even if it is to follow a guy or help him. She is not a character which could be pushed around and I like that.

I think I Aree with except character Yi Seo. She Is arise alot of interesting topic and problem, But because she…
Yi Seo's character is actually a child. She's just 20 years old. Although she is extremely intelligent, there are many things that she has to learn in life. The drama does not focus much on her character development but rather on the Revenge plot, which is the usual cliché in the kdrama world.

Oh God I feel you! Except I’m not getting the chance to finish it T T I still have 4 episodes left. I find the…
You Should finish it. The ending is somewhat unexpected and Satisfying at the same time. They tied up all the loose ends and made it into a perfect drama. After Finishing the Drama, I find that Chen Yu Run is Actually the strongest character in this drama.

In my opinion, the drama is a little overrated.
The plot is cliche and a bit predictable. The main character SRY played by PSJ is the typical good guy lead found in dramas (there's no mystery or a different shade to the character, thereby reducing the scope for character development). In short the character of SRY is typical PSJ character which he plays in almost all his dramas as the male lead.
For me the only reason to watch this drama is the character of Yi Seo played by Kim Da Mi. it's a unique character and is not the typical perfect girl type of character. The character has its own flaws and thereby leaves a room for plenty of character development. The character grows through each Episode. The only complaint I have is that, even though they made the Character of Yi seo into a strong one a she throws the first punch during a fight, they always make SRY to appear and save her which is Completely unnecessary and cliche. It serves no purpose other than to show that SRY is a good guy and can fight well (So typical, over the top cliche moment found in almost all the Dramas and Manhwas).
The Character Designs, Shot composition, Feel etc... of the drama is more like that of Reading a Manhwa. They even put in the normal cliche scenes found in Manhwas like girls sitting opposite of each other (while the main guy goes to get coffee) and bickering about their relationship. Sometimes while watching the drama I get the feel of reading the Manhwa, which is a bit weird for a Drama. It feels like they didn't draw any story board and used the manhwa as the story board. (Especially scenes involving Jang Dae Hee, his mannerisms etc...)
The twists, flow of the story, reaction of the characters are mostly predictable just like all the other typical Manhwas/Dramas. There's no much of a surprise element in the Drama.
In conclusion, this drama is a bit over rated and does not deserve the praise that it gets. There are far better Dramas out there. I am watching this drama only for the character of Yi Seo played by Kim Da Mi. If not for that Character, this Drama would be a typical Revenge Drama with nothing new to offer.
In my Opinion, Yi Seo is the only interesting character which drives this drama forward and makes it exciting. So watch this drama f you have nothing else on your watchlist and some time to spare.

It may seem like that I'm nitpicking, but I can't help but think about the Original Wang Quen Sheng (the Gay one), what is happening to him the time Li Zi Wei is in control of his body. Just like how Chen Yu Run was seeing Huang Yu Xuan using her body, Original Wang Quen Sheng would also be seeing Li Zi Wei using his body. What about the mentality of him, what will he be thinking when Li Zi Wei is doing all the things that he wants to do.
Also, this drama doesn't give any importance towards the relationship between the children and their parents (except Chen Yu Run's Mother). It literally treats the Parents like they don't even exist in the drama.

I HATE YOU...
I HATE YOU AS MUCH AS I LOVE THIS DRAMA.
This may all seem a little weird. But listen me out.
After thinking about it, I decided to give this drama a try.
And Holy $#! T, I've never seen anything like this before and I am pretty sure that I won't see anything like this ever again. This drama literally frustrated me for about 3 whole days. I can't possibly imagine how people watched this drama when it aired, they had to wait for fricking 3 WHOLE MONTHS.!!! I couldn't even suffer for 3 days...
I am not Amazed but SHOCKED by how an Actress could really pull of two completely different characters without any difficulty. The transition from Huang Yu Xuan to Chen Yun Ru back and forth is completely UNBELIEVABLE.!!!
She was literally like a fricking CHAMELEON.!!!
This Drama has everything that I hate like a love triangle (both ways), [two girls liking one guy two guys liking one girl (well, this one's just physically)] An Obsessed stalker, Time travelling, Perfect Boyfriend, etc...
But this is still my Favourite Drama so far from all the dramas I've ever seen.
I would Describe this drama as taking a completely stuck up knot, then understanding how each knot made it stuck up and then untying it. While watching the Drama I had the same feel of untying such a knot.
Each and every episode put me at the edge of my seat and I don't know how I was able to endure all the frustration. The Director did a really good job of making us feel the pain of the characters while watching it.
This drama is actually a dangerous relic. You can't binge watch it all at once because we won't be able to take in all the emotions, frustration and pain. Also we cannot watch it by taking our own time as the pain will be for too long. I just don't understand how could someone even think about something as complex yet beautiful as this.
This drama gave me the feel like when I first discovered Christopher Nolan Movies. Also I am afraid to look for more dramas like this because I am not sure if my heart can take any more dramas like this.
This drama exceeds all my expectations and also completely disregards all my theories, I could not even predict about what will happen in the next scene let alone about the flow of the story or the ending.
And just like Huang Yu Xuan said, I stopped expecting/asking for a good ending and believed in the director that he will provide us with a Good Ending. And boy he didn't disappoint. I can't possibly think of a better Ending. No, I can't even possibly think of any other way the story could be changed to make it better. This drama is Perfect from all the OSTs to the every last bit of detail.

If This Drama couldn't get a 10/10 in MDL, I Don't know which drama could.

PS: I apologise for such a long comment.

Although I agree with the movie news, death of the Actors and so, do we really have to mention the private life of the Celebrities like their divorce, babies, who they are dating etc..? Why can't we just leave the celebrities with their private lives, enjoy their work and judge them on the basis of their talent and work.?
Actually I don't want MDL to turn into another gossip spreading, hate Mongering magazine type webpage. ?

You're missing out, there are good gems but I'm into Jdramas and never got into Korean ones haha
The thing is that I'm more into Anime when it comes to Japanese. I know and heard that there are many good Jdramas, (even one of my favourite kdrama Mother was a remake of Jdrama), but still I don't know why I prefer kdramas, maybe I just got used to it. But there are times when I don't feel like watching kdramas (especially when it becomes repetitive and boring with same cliché stories), then I try my hand at Taiwanese and sometimes Chinese Dramas. I watched GTO because I just couldn't get enough of the anime.

De maari...As for me she was the only character that drew me towards this drama. The first two episodes were completely…
As a matter of fact, Yi Seo's character is actually true to her very nature of Sociopath. She can't be Sympathetic towards others and thinks rationally. Unlike other characters whose nature keep shifting their tone. SRY's character was first a sociopath, but then he starts befriending people and taking care of them out of nowhere, Soo Ah's character was more like a twisted one, but she started to become supportive and likable person just like that.
Guen Won was more like a bully type, but lately he turned out to be a comedy side character type of guy.
So in this old cliché type of story, Yi Seo's character is the only one which is like a breath of fresh air. Actually I don't know for some reason, I am starting to see the scenes in this drama more like a Manhwa, you know those characters who fights for one guy sitting across a table while the guy is gone to get drinks type, the characters helping out the main guy etc...

De maari...
As for me she was the only character that drew me towards this drama. The first two episodes were completely cliché and was extremely boring. If it wasn't for PSJ, people would have definitely dropped the drama after 2 episodes. Only from the 3rd episode after Yi Seo was introduced the drama started to become interesting. If Yi Seo's character wasn't there in this drama it would be like any other cliché kdrama. As a matter of fact it was onlybthe character of Yi Seo that keeps me invested in this drama. If they were to change her character, the drama would completely be a letdown.
Actually, Kim Da Mi is carrying the complete drama on her shoulders.

Seems like the plot will get to much complicated. And there will be Love triangles. I'm going to skip this one.
Ugh I hate love triangles. They unnecessarily complicates things.
Btw, nice article. Short and Upto the point without giving away much of the plot. You have a way to keep the reader interested in the article.
