HAHAHAA! YASSSS I tried making my sister watch Hello Monster and she normally love thrillers too but she somehow just can't get interested in it (i know the drama starts out a bit slower) and the male lead's young version LOL She's so annoyed by the little actor lol She's like "I can't read what his emotions and what is he thinking LOL his "dead face" acting is too bad that it conveys nothing" LOLLLL
Wait, hold on. So did Lee Ahn lose his ability at the end of the show?? Also, this wasn’t as bad as everyone…
No he didn't. They don'[t show every single time he has a read what he is seeing. He was reading the guy at the end they just didn't show you what he is seeing.
I loved the ending LOL imperfect but not everyone or everything is always going to have a happy meaningful ending and that's okay lol
I respect everyone’s opinion but I do think there are more reasons. The most important one being her dad. Jisoo…
Haha. I agree that Jisoo's death might not be a good choice for everyone and yup totally not just for shippers LOL I personally liked how "meaningless" it gets cos I like how life is sometimes like a joke. They maybe able to do more with it but I like how irony it is.
I thought about the dad part too but don't know how much it will help cos he doesn't actually know what happened. It may confirm he's innocent, but he adds little to the plot. Also, he's still a prisoner, Ahn is not related nor no one officially know his power. They wouldn't let him be near to Jaein's dad I think. (Sure there are other ways they can sneak him in but then still he doesn't know anything about what happened that night.)
-8.5/10. Very similar to my rating for Hello Monster and The Smile Has Left Your Eyes.
- It's a drama require thinking a lot and reading between lines/understanding a situation without the director telling you in your face. - It's a drama that starts out light and turns very dark. But the lightness was much needed in order for us to feel the darkness. - It's a drama that's not for everyone. You will need to accept how complicated life is and someone smiling and laughing doesn't mean the wounds are healed and forgotten. You will need to accept that life is never perfect and we as human live and move on with our own scars. Not everything ended up worth it and is meaningful. - There are flaws and loose ends not answered but overall it was a great plot and directing. They foreshadow every plot twist WAY in advance honestly it wasn't even a plot twist for me anymore. - The acting were excellent. I know a lot of people think 2nd male lead was the best because of his story, but I sincerely think 1st male lead stole the show for me. 2nd male lead has an interesting story but 1st male lead has a rare personality in kdramas. He's the most emotionally stable and understanding character out of everyone given his tragic backstory.
I completely agree. Everything felt out of place at the end and didn't gel with the second part of the series.…
It was not disregarded tho. That's just how life is. I recently needed to put my beloved cat down I am very sad but my life still goes on. I can still laugh with my friends when something funny and happy happened. That does not mean I forgot her. She's a scar in my heart but life is about moving on while trying to live with your scars. It shows clearly how Ahn feels about Seongmo when they talked.
I'm conflicted. People in the comments n reviews either give it a 10/10 or awful.
Because the writer took a not so usual path. It's not easy to accept or a lot of people don't actually understand. But for those who do, I loved it so so much. Though I need to warn people who want to try this, you will need to think a lot the between the lines and read the actors and actresses' facial expression or understand the situation without the director showing you directly. The director said it himself he doesn't want to tell the viewers he wants to show it.
The romance felt forced. There was more chemistry between the brothers than the 2 leads.
I thought the two leads had great chemistry so is the bromance or Ahn x Jisoo or Jisoo x Jaein - I honestly don't really care that much for Seongmo x Jisoo - I really like them but seen this too often from kdramas I am numbed but I genuinely enjoyed the two leads' story.
I recommend. It just seems like many people need to remember that THIS IS A SUSPENSE AND MYSTERY drama. And as…
It's funny how much I do like this drama even tho it's not perfect at all, I also loved The Smile Has Left Your Eyes and Hello Monster so so much. I liked Tunnel but I can't finish Healer and While You Were Asleep LOL So 100% agree on your comment about it being more the first three than the last two you mentioned.
I respect everyone’s opinion but I do think there are more reasons. The most important one being her dad. Jisoo…
Agree and i can see your points too - there are lots of things they could do for the character. To me I quite like how dark it gets - despite wanting to achieve something and do something, the reality doesn't always do and all your effort can go meaningless. The irony in life is somehow my type of things (lol)
Though I won't be able to agree to Ahn overreacting to everything. In fact, he kinda normalizes all the traumas he has ever faced. Even when he got stabbed he was still laughing and joking it off. The same stab killed Jisoo - it is a very fatal stab yet he didn't even rest a bit or complained at all. When his brother abandoned him and came back after 10 years - he didn't even say a sentence of being mad and disappoint, all he said was he misses him so much. Ahn's character is one of the saddest male leads (who has never been a jerk to anyone around him) yet he smiles it off.
(parents died in front of him at 8, being the lone survivor with the heavy guilt, only family/brother he trusts abandoned him as a kid for a decade, left him being bullied heavily and isolated for years, gained supernatural power that made his life messed up the entire childhood and teenage life, sees the darkest deeds humans are capable of doing vividly as if he's experiencing them, the sister who has been there for him is dead, the brother who raised him, he trusted and willing to give up life for turns out to be the one who killed the only 3 families he has and has always been using him (haven't watched ep16 yet), and now the supernatural power not only can hurt him mentally but also almost killed him physically as if he experience all the death himself.)
Other dramas you will get some but not all these at once and those leads already usually became a jerk or have some kind of mental illness lol For me he should even show it more so the audiences know how much pain he actually suffers instead of yelling at him when he pushed Jaein away LOL (But again, that's just me lol)
The drama has become something even more unique after ep13 IMO - it's not done often (but with a purpose) and it's really dark. I prefer this type of fluffy exterior but actually SUPER dark dramas lol
If you are on the fence because of the rookie and kpop idols cast, the not so well known writer and are scared of the director’s past work - No need to worry. The casting was excellent. Everyone is very fitting to the character and the acting, despite the fact that they are newbies, they are actually surprisingly very good and natural. (The Director waited 5 years to finally find the right “Lee Ahn” with Park Jinyoung) The plot, storytelling, directing are all great, in fact, haven’t seen one in a while:
It’s been awhile I am so invested into all the characters and liking each of their relationships so much. Every one has dimension and has their own story. Everyone gets their chance to shine.
Also it’s been awhile that a drama don’t just throw everything at you at once. Some might feel the repeated “flash back” are unnecessary but every time they do that they revealed a missing puzzle we didn’t know before. It’s a very complete plot that was planned way ahead of time so the loose ends are being answered slowly one by one (but they will).
It might be a fluffy drama exterior at first, but don’t let the fluffiness fooled you. You will need to pay attention to the details and hints and think. The director doesn’t announce the emotions or why a character is doing something right in your face. You actually need to think in the characters’ shoes to understand why they do what they do.
Of course it’s not the best drama ever, but it’s one of the best this year, will definitely recommend it. Worth a watch but be prepared to think lol
Am I the only one who thinks detective eun and seong mo are more interesting than the the main couple?
I like Jisoo and Seongmo too but I am in love with the main leads’ line. That’s the beauty of this drama tho, each of the characters are full of life and their dimensions so some might be more interested in one or another - to me, they are all really interesting stories but my personal liking is the main leads lol Jisoo and Seongmo’s story can be a little typical kdrama lol (tho Jisoo’s character/personality is definitely not typical in kdrama)
aint it good someone actually die, i mean how many time a character in kdrama actually die, okay tbh thats just…
Totally agree. If they didn’t make us fall in love with EVERY SINGLE of them and all of their relationships, especially Ahn x Jisoo and Ahn x Seongmo, the audience would never understand how Ahn feels now and how much he hurts and to what extends!
It's interesting but also ridiculous. They catch him, he escapes. Like, how many more people will he kill before…
The police who lost him mentioned if he was told this is a dangerous suspect he would have been a lot more careful. He was pulled in half way and that makes sense to me tho
The whole premise of the story and the character's background was dark so the progression to a darker show made…
Kpop idol isn’t always light tho lol He was casted because how much he is fitting for the character. The entire premises and backstory from every single person is so dark. The director said too the story will go darker and darker from mid point on lol Yes, it’s not for everyone - some people just want lighter entertainment but it doesn’t change the fact that this is one excellent drama and story writing / telling lol
And it actually does nothing to the plot. At least in Stranger and SKY Castle, it helped to move the plot, it…
Will have to disagree. Her death makes the entire plot moved forward. They wouldn’t even be able to investigate this case without Jisoo’s dad support. He’s blocking all the pressure from the top and YSS and he’s barely surviving. Imagine with Jisoo, his biggest weakness? Current traits because of the recency of the case - timeliness is always key to every case. Jisoo connects to every single aspect of this case, her death is the last draw for every person to put their souls into solving it. It advanced Ahn’s power and gave him the last draw to reveal his power to the world because how much Jisoo means to him. There’s even more that her death have done to the plot.
I don't think she's alive tbh, I think that her death here comes to intensify Sung Mo emotions and the fact the…
Agree. She’s pretty dead. Ahn did a read on the body and it’s her memory. But her death doesn’t only work to intensify Seongmo’s emotions tho I think. It does a lot more to the plot and actually they can even be investigating this case is because Jisoo is dead (sadly) with her dad blocking all the pressure from the top.
I loved the ending LOL imperfect but not everyone or everything is always going to have a happy meaningful ending and that's okay lol
