That kiss was too vanilla for me. The 2 main leads are inspired by 2 basically avant-garde, mainstream and popular…
There's a movie: Frozen Flower-one of my favourites though very violent and cruel.
I leave aside the extreme sex scenes between the 2 of the 3 leads
The body language of 2 men in their own scenes (there was mutual attraction but not a single actual intimate scene) is just perfection.
Ok the acting level of those 2 men cant be compared with our ML here-one of them is one of the best korean actors-but there was also a magnificent direction which made the scenes precious!-

Yes they indeed had one dead fish kissing scene but all the other intimate ones were fine (not that many but decently executed)

I didnt expect passion either.
But i expected emotions and i didnt see them.
As a said before, passion has many ways to be conveyed
I was so triggered when i saw that scene, being reminded all those wooden doll korean scenes, emotionless bodies and faces with zero soul inside
Of course its a matter of personal perspective, but there are also objective factors that ruined it such as the bad montage and wrong angles.
If they ruin the upcoming intimate scenes (if any)
i will have to kill the whole production team including the actors (ok except my babe Ryang Eum) hahahahahahah

I havent watched everything from the above list, but most of them are no fantasy-pure realistical stories. Yeah Park Shi Hoo is not a proper actor but damn me, he is HOT in Princess Man-especially in the second part. Go and watch a few scenes to check him out-or with a simple google search.
he was uncontrollably hot!
(his co-star saved the day in that drama. She was VERY good, though her character was a bit pathetic, but she nailed it to the point that you didnt even notice ML's no acting lol

(Princess man had no fantasy elements but the few loving scenes were perfectly executed, though the ML is not that talented actingwise-he's more like an idol performing in a standard way. Same goes for Empress Ki)

Personally i didnt expect passion, but all the things you mentioned. But i didnt see them either.
There was no angsty breathing, no certain posture, no nothing.
Passion is a feeling that can be expressed not only in an aggressive way. Our bodies, eyes and face expressions have unlimited ways to express every layer of any emotion

A full passionate kiss would not be appropriate at the current point. BUT, a heavy briething of the actors, full of angst, an awkwardness, the general feeling, all these things that were bottled up from both of them, should be conveyed and they didnt. We just saw 2 wooden dolls approaching each other and that was all. If it happens again, means that its the common case of 2 actors who are very good at conveying their emotions solo, but together it just doesnt work. There are many factors to achieve that "chemistry"-no matter if its lovers chem or other kind. e.g. Ryang Eum and Jang Hyunn, they have it when acting together in a scene. The choreography of both, looks very natural and their body language is flowing smoothly on screen.

The montage was a failure. Different body and hands position in a supposed to be the same pose. This, together with bad execution in terms of body language-very wooden very awkward totally director's fault-ruined a kiss that was very crucial for the story as it was meant to be the crescendo of their relationship up to now

Truth. My frustration with FL (Scarlett O'Hara) childish antics was big tbh. She's damn stupid and selfish and…
There's no adaptation of GWTW. This trope: arrogant female who has a crush on other than the ML etc, happened again in asian dramas
There were some viewers who noticed the resemblance with Scarlet and the war happening at the same time and maybe someone from the production team mentioned 1-2 common elements but that's all

I love Korean historical dramas, but this one is so boring. I don't have the nerve to continue watching it.
I know what you mean, since i myself am not into korean historicals as well. Depending of the genre you like (eg if you are a romance addict or skinship addict or fast paced etc) you can wait until it ends-both 2 parts and judging by the comments you decide if you watch or not the whole thing. This always saves time. Im doing the same thing, though i watch the most crucial moments but as i ve experienced slow burning romances in historical dramas A LOT, i get easily bored. As for negative opinions in general, MDL is not fandoms place, everyone can and should express his/her opinion cause there are people who read and want to be informed about many elements regarding a show, so the more controversial the comments, the easier for a potential watcher to decide

Personally I would disagree with the others that you don't miss things if you skip the political scenes...I feel…
Imagine how burned out are my brains by watching political historical dramas (mostly chinese), that i found this one, having little to no politics
hahahhahahahahahahahahah
i should put an end!

I cried for him too. He was not the typical patriotic type of a man, he just wanted to do something great in his life, be it him marrying her or go to war or anything.
He had that young boy's innocence, i was so sad, especially with his last words

I mean... between Gil Chae and Jang Hyun, Jang Hyun is more of the adult. He makes stupid choices, he gets stupid…
For sure!
Plus the very comforting thought of:
"well there are people who f@ their lives for nothing, more than i have"

You know whats the worst part? That SHE DID this thing with the chubby unlucky boy on early episodes, when she asked him to be her fiance and sent him to war with that false expectation

You said that we all here share one brain cell and not a functional one but as i see it, the mains in the drama also share one non functional brain cell as well.
We ve got: a supposed-to-be-cassanova who cares only for his as@ but he fell hard for an airhead girl when he saw her on a ...SWING (not even dancing around a pole for cryin out loud.
Then the above airhead who sh@tilly pursues her bf's fiance
Then her bf who is marrying the above bas@ard and finds excuses about her poor friend who pursues....HER MAN
Countless idiots making their lives miserable for no reason at all

To tell the truth, if someone tells you: "promise me you ll never think of certain someone and i wont go where i should and be in danger", you owe to answer: "i promise" and you save him from being in danger. Then you 'll have all the time in the world to think of your stupid ass@ -supposed-to-be-your-first-love-who's-married -to-your-bf
If there's anything else but straw in your f@ brains.
Otherwise you sit and cry holding his clothes, making spells on a rock
Just sayin'
