Part of this drama is the story of how it's hard for both I know, but as a woman, how it's hard to protect yourself…
Every time i watch a historical movie/drama, whatever the story, i feel so glad that i was born in the current era. Be it a man or a woman those times, your life was on the wire 24/7, from a simple disease to an execution. Worse for women who didnt have a life at all. I like that in this drama its clearly shown that a woman's life, especially if she was low class, had no value at all. Not that the higher class women had a value, but they were more "expensive" as reproductive beings, for a heir. When the crown prince is informed that the intruders had step foot on the island, he only asks about his son...
Why why why I am start to watch this drama ðŸ˜ðŸ˜Now I have to wait for next ep damn my pathetic patience 😔
Try to find a "filler" drama -that's how i call the dramas i pick to keep my mind sane for the one that is still airing. I usually dont watch currently airing dramas for the known reasons. But when i make the mistake, i always find a filler one, something light and comfy
Queen in Hyun's man, it has one of the best (and real life at that time) couples, great performances and interesting…
Definitely one of the most epic drama couples ever! Im glad i ve watched it, though i first watched the chinese version with Jing Boran (he was very good but the drama was very mediocre comparing to QIHM), but then i discovered there's the korean original and though i had already watched the chinese, i didnt skip a single second! (Goblin is a leader-chronically-on its genre, and it started a whole new era in fantasy korean dramas. It was funny, deep, aesthetically beautiful and very heartwarming in so many ways-at least for me who love it that much)
Does anyone have recommendations for similar dramas based on the romantic development and the depth of the story?
Also, if you re into chinese dramas, there's Scarlet Heart and the popular korean Scarlet Heart Moon lovers (different stories). Both with deep stories and very very good performances by the whole cast. I have 1-2 more recommendations of chinese similar dramas, but i dont wont to give you headache with many titles. If you are interested though, just tell me so and i ll give you more
The Princess man’ Its old tho (2011) but it has aged well. Joseon version of Romeo and Juliet , very intense…
Though i wasnt fascinated by the story, the ML is pure hotness in that, and i just love the FL actress in all her works-even the crappy ones. Can we please take a minute to reminisce the scene where he's got that long hair, half tied up, half naked and puring water on him? Epic drooling-worthy scene!

Queen in Hyun's man, it has one of the best (and real life at that time) couples, great performances and interesting storyline with someone who's trying to change history. Its kind of epic drama like Goblin, on its genre.
Someone in a comment suggested that maybe the man in psychiatry prison can be ryang eum.Maybe ryang eum would…
That's exactly my reason for believing he is not dead in the present timeline. Nobody would care about his whereabouts if he was reported dead. They could easily delete everything about him in historical reports and case closed. Plus the fact, that they wouldnt give the ending at the first few minutes of ep1-at least not this director who clearly loves twists.
The story was one of the most pointless-if not the most-of every crappy drama i ve ever watched. Thankfully i skipped whole episodes. Who casted that actress btw? Her actins skills and body language are worse than a vegetable
I don’t want to throw a wrench in this but did anyone else feel the first scene on the beach was the ending?????…
I doubt this is the final scene. Its either the ML's ending and the story will have some more scenes of what happened to the FL or the rest, or its not a bad ending and there's a twist at the moment he s walking towards them (to be killed eventually). Considering the narration and the director's style up to now, he wouldnt give the ending in the first scene. He's even twisting the plot surprisingly in almost every episode (if not 2 and more times in each ep), so my gut is telling me that the ML is not dead at the end. +The guy in the cell is supposed to "wait for him to save him" and even if this is only his illusion, in the later years they are still searching for that man (the ML) so its not clarified that according to history he was found dead. +He is too witty to die that easily and so young lol
I thought the same about these 2 stories and thank god the characters in MD are written in a more complicated and multilayered way. Plus, in GWTW both Scarlett and Rett were a bit sh@tty as characters and the writing was pretentious
Ahahaha 😅 We're all quite excited about this drama here. Glad you found it worthy of the praise but if you…
You are right about the comment section in many forums (not only here, but on reddit and others too). As a very strict viewer, i have experienced a lot of hate comments, some people think that you can only comment on a drama if you find everything perfect in it. Im not like that, even with the dramas i really love, i always have elements i love and some i dont like at all in a drama. My dearest, to me, is a mediocre watch in many aspects but i really love the dynamics between the main couple, between the girls friendship and between the ML and Ryang Eum. I also love the male character as he is not the typical girl savior and hero who goes for it, but a controversial type of man who just caught off guard and have to sacrifice his own benefit for the girl's safety. Dislikes? Yeap, as i said before, i have a few. The ML as an actor is not that good. The direction is great-as a good director can even turn a stone into a good performer-but he only has 2 face expressions up to now. Also the costumes are a bit unrealistic-there were not such colors in 17th century-not even in the west. It hurts my eyes sometimes. The music is very beautiful, the folklore songs by Ryang Eum are special. i enjoy the fast paicng and the narrative up to now.
Citizens of Mydramalist, I come here with an urgent cry for help! Please don't shy away from answering my request...GUYS…
The Rise of Phoenixes. You wont get actual loving scenes, but very strong and obsessed love between the leads and overall better production quality, beautiful music, stunnins props and sets but too much politics (you can skip scenes). As for the dubbing, there is some but the best quality dubbing you ll find in a c drama. The acting is also a bit better
Yes sort of, it's not really clear but does look that way... but someone couple of weeks ago looked up the screenwriters…
Actually Scarlet Heart had a kind of open ending (they had the nerve, years later, to release some pics of "special" supposed episode, where they meet in our timeline in a museum. As for Smile has left your eyes, (its my top favourite but the jap version), bad ending was one way ticket as it was a pure tragedy (considering the actual relation between the main couple). I kind of believe that My Dearest will have a happy ending, cause up to now, the director likes to twist the plot giving you a first impression and then boom! So as he chose to tell us from the first few minutes of the drama that the ML walks to his death, i bet he ll turn the story upside down and give a happy ending or at least an open one. I also think that Ryang Eum will play a critical part on the story's outcome, so to speak, his actions will lead to the certain ending. Despite all the above, i really prefer to be ready for a sad ending than to have a shocking, rushed, horrible ending that is ony made for the sake of the drama's hype-as from the marketing's perspective, tragic endings, keep dramas trending for much longer.
Oh, I just rewatched it and can't believe I didn't recognise his voice! Maybe it's just an MBC easter egg?
Maybe it not his voice, but definetely is his presence. I guess it s just a part of the deal-contracts for his cameo and has nothing to do with the story

Reminds me of Wang So of Moon Lovers but better version, cause he had THE body at that time

But in a superficial way because she is the witty seductress of the village

maybe he 's part of the sets and decoration!
They could use Namk Min.
Any thoughts?
