Is this drama worth watching?

Only thing that bothered me was that we never get to know what happens to our star-crossed lovers or even if Tian Peng gets punished for his crimes. Obviously Yu Hai and Shen Yun are gonna face some sort of penalty, but it would have been good if we got some closure. Did she get a reduced sentence? Did they end up together? etc.

Much like "The Bad Kids", this is one of the best recent Chinese dramas I've watched. it started off a little bit slow and complicated but once the plot hit its stride from episode 2 onwards, it was such an addicting and enjoyable watch. The story is interesting, extremely well written and you never know what happens next, with little to no plot holes. The characters were brilliantly realized and acted - as a previous commenter noted, the chemistry between Gina Jin and Zhu Ya Wen was amazing; tbh, all the actors did their roles well. I would 100% recommend this drama if you're into crime, thriller, detective and whodunnit genres. Fair bit of romance too. 9.5/10 from me (why is the rating on MDL so low?)

What an amazing show! One of the best Chinese dramas I've ever seen. The story is amazing and all the actors did an excellent job, especially the child actors. Please give this a watch if you're into slickly produced, well written family/crime dramas. 9.5/10.

Sounds quite interesting

I'm on episode 6 and it's so good. I just wish there was a site I could watch it on with subs from aside from iQiyi. And yeah, I think there is an English translation of the novel, I just can't find it anywhere online.

This show could have been a masterpiece on the level of My Ahjussi, if they hadn't messed up the ending so badly.

All I will say is that this is the best Korean drama I have seen, no other will come close. The plot was airtight, logical, well written and never dragged for a second. Every actor did an amazing job. Even the OST slaps. I can write an essay on all the characters and the themes but for now... a solid 10/10.

Please keep going! It starts off a bit slow and very focused but afterwards it becomes a masterpiece.

I can't recommend this show enough. Started watching a way to pass the time but it was so good, me and my entire family binged in a couple of weeks (even my mom, who hates war movies). Every actor did their role well, the storyline was engaging - none of the 32 episodes dragged. Even minor side characters felt like real people. 9.0/10.

A Touch of Green has similar storyline and themes and won a bunch of awards. Might be worth checking out

Don't insult East Asian dramas like this. None will come close to matching Bollywood's needless melodrama lol.
