actually i don't really get the "over the top" comment from some intl viewers. i've been watching jdramas my whole…
that's what I'm saying!! her acting - and the acting in jdramas - is not even the OTT! idk why ppl criticize jdramas so much... if it's a manga adaptation or straight comedy, yeah, there's some over acting but most Japanese content has a perfectly naturalistic style.
I'm seeing a lot of kdrama stans criticize the FL and the over-the-top acting/comedy... When essentially, ELY is Japanese creators paying homage to the kdramas they love. I didn't even notice all the kdrama tropes until this Reddit comment pointed it out:
"Comments from non-Jdrama watchers regarding Eye Love You always give me a laugh. I don't think they realize how much of it reflects tropes that people in Japan often associate with Kdramas. The wishy washy female lead, the pushy male lead that's given a pass because he's cute, the love triangle being rounded out by a male best friend that's always been secretly in love with her... all classic Kdrama tropes."
IDK if it's the script or the cinematography but it feels really subpar. The interactions felt immature and cheesy.…
they spent so much effort into getting a Korean actor, they forgot to spend time on the writing 💀 but idk I'm enjoying it but it's not my fav or something I look forward to, if you know what I mean?
mfs had an AESPA MV in the middle of the drama ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ did they put the bloopers in the middle of the episode... god I love this goofy ahh show so much, even Kwon Nara and the ML were cracking up lmao... also wasn't Nara a Kpop girlie too back in the day?
man, that grandma cannot catch a break, does she really need to die in everything she's in? they really killed her off just so Bon stops being selfish and helps him out?? also, look, Bom has very valid reasons, but I didn't like she shot down the ML. like she didn't know it's literally life or death for him but still... agh, it's all complicated.
no way she falls him in EP. 4... Ik this is just 12 episodes but ... stop playing with me previews...
where did you watch ? I have been waiting from the first day for it to be subbed in a good platform. I wanna start…
download her subs, download these raws from the link below, and open in player of your choice like VLC. voila! I would recommend since her translations are actually good unlike Netflix or the AI garbage, she also has notes explaining the Japanese language & cultural nuances.
it's a romcom, ofc there's some silliness. live action adaptations, comedies, some Shoujo stuff...ofc there'll…
yeah, I'm saying none of your criticisms are applicable ONLY to jdramas. there are many jdramas, and not all of them are like this. whatever cringe or silly FLs you do find in jdramas can also be found in Korean stuff. I mean, have you seen the FL in Behind Your Touch? the over the top comedy on Waikiki?
Netflix is driving me crazy. wdym y'all are dropping the rest of the episodes in 4 weeks?? why can't we jdrama fans have one episode each week like kdramas?? it's not like we're asking for two episodes per day like cdramas ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ’€ðŸ’€

I've also watched a lot of Japanese movies and dramas, my guy, I've even subbed a lot of them. it's a matter of genre. if it's a gritty crime drama from WOWOW or human interest story for NHK or just an average slice of life, the acting is understated and realistic. the FLs act like normal people. most jdramas are like that
Godzilla Minus One is literally Kaiju movie at its heart. and it was still very grim and toned down, despite a few moments...
again, literally everything you mentioned can be said about kdramas or cdramas so idk why you guys say this only about jdramas.
