The only drama I can think of that has a similar type of relationship is The Legends.

This has the best female lead in a Cdrama ever.

The FL is poorly written. That former prosecutor lady is a better written character than the FL.

I wish this drama didn't have the romance plot line - I think it would be better without it.

I am almost out of patience with Qiao! I felt sorry for her in the beginning because what happened but then her schemes are getting more sinister as time goes by- It would be laughable but she is so inept that I can't take her seriously. She is more a product of her circumstances than inherently evil but boy is she getting aggravating.
Hopefully in next weeks episodes we can have a proper villain to deal with - like on the level of Imperial consort Gao from story of Yanxi palace.

It would be safe to say that the drama is loosely based on the novel. Its like they took the skeleton of the novel and then put on new flesh

I kind of like this. That means the story was picked up based on its merits and doesn't have like a wide fan base so we will get less of those comments says but this different from the novel and why did they change it and stuff like that.

He is my favorite character too! He is soo extra but without crossing over into being annoying or unbelievable.

She doesn't really have an opportunity to interact with the boy. Since he is the legitimate child, essentially the heir, he is highly favored by his grandmother to the point of living in her wing of the house. Grandmother also defers to Qiao over FL about anything and everything so FL has to walk the fine line of making sure things don't go to shit without pissing off her mother in law and being branded as disrespect. She will get closer to him in the coming episodes

I found this little tidbit in the 1st chapter that explains why the character of Shi Yi behaves the way she does. Apparently she is a 21 century woman who worked as a lawyer and had won a court case but got into an accident and woke up 3 years ago in Shi Yi Niang's body.
