Ok, finding out that he was a fitness coach explains why he is always shirtless in all his dramas. Like I get it - he worked hard for those abs and the should be shown off and appreciated - but some directors make it excessive. There was one where he literally wore no shirt, the whole drama like even under a suit jacket. He is a a good actor (not the best but pretty good for the genre that he is in) and he also happens to be fit. The production teams shouldn't reduce him to a just a pretty face with great abs. He deserves better and so do we, the viewers.
This is very good. Also, finally someone who tells the person, that am your childhood friend/crush/whatever early enough. Also the communication between the leads is good ironic since the ML was silent for like half the show
I watched the other version with Liu Shanglin & Wu Jialu as @Joyb619 recommended because I didn't like how the ML handled the breakup and trying to win her back in this version and I needed like a palate cleanser from his controlling behaviour. He was very manipulative, true he never forced anyone to take anything he offered but still it was very scheme-y the way he kept working to get rid of anyone who was interested in her.
ML is dumb as a box of rocks - FL has her issues too but at least she is not that DUMB!!! These characters are poorly written - Even the policeman who should be investigating the case quietly is discussing all the details with his close friend who is a prime suspect - no ethics at all!

I kinda feel bad for you- that must have been quite a shock. The 2 characters are as different as night and day. Ming Lan will always be my favorite character she's played but I also loved her growth as Shan Shan from dumb naive girl to successful business woman. --- for what its worth, which is probably nothing---- This and Story of Ming Lan are the only 2 dramas of hers that I rewatch on the regular. I just skip the annoying part with the delusional sfl
